In a Hurry?!?!

I went for a walk today, and as I was crossing the road, a car that was trying to turn onto the road I was crossing got beeped at while waiting for me to cross. It got me to thinking. Why are we always in a hurry?

Hurry to go to school, hurry to get out of school, hurry to work, hurry to appointments, hurry to vacation, hurry to eat, hurry to drive, hurry to get married. Even on Runescape, there's a hurry to level, hurry to get money, hurry to get items. Why? Why are humans always in a rush?

I don't have the answer to that question, but rather a solution to the problem. Slow down! There's no need to rush everything. Stop and smell the roses. Look at the clouds and the stars for a few minutes. Relax. If you're afaid of being late for something, leave earlier. There's no reason why we should always have to rush everything.

You'll get there when you get there.

Using this solution has actually helped me out a bit. I actually started slowing down a few weeks ago. It's made me a less angry person. My stress level has dropped dramatically.

What do you think is the problem with the world? How would you solve the "rushing" mentality?

I like the rush.

Give a point to each of your actions.

I like to spend as much time as possible relaxing, and 'smelling the roses'.

After which I realize I have stuff to do--and so what can you do? Hurry, hurry, hurry.

Doesn't seem stressful to me. Maybe a little challenging at times.

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

Because time is limited and the future always come far sooner than we would have ever expected. I probably have a really bad case of this to the point where time actually scares me. I get pissed too easily at people in front of me who walk really slow and also when I'm sitting around doing nothing while waiting on someone else.

It all stems from time and scheduled lives. Which is exactly why I don't make plans in my life (whenever possible). For instance, when I go on road trips with my friends - we don't make an agenda, we just welcome spontaneity along on our trips.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

It's the way of life today. Unfortunately.

If you don't hurry, you stay behind, you miss the opportunity, you are late for something,... If you don't try to be better and work harder, you practically can't achieve anything in capitalystic way of life =(

I usually don't hurry, i try to do everything the slow and fun way. When it comes to school/college, i am very lazy and i usually do everything in the last moments and that is when i rush =P

Oh, and i walk fast too. I got used to fast walking, so i mostly get nervous if i have to walk slow =]

It's interesting to watch the rush from far away. But when you're stuck in it, it's nowhere near as fun. Like a forest. From outside, it's beautiful. But on the inside, you can't see the forest for all the trees.

I tend to take things pretty slow. But if I'm intent on doing something, I rush pretty hard. Zerg style. Judging by some of these posts, you guys would hate me. It'd taken me an hour to walk a mile with some friends, we go that slow.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I [bleep] hate slow people. always being slow, and not letting you by in the hallways, those people piss me the [bleep] off.

Totally with ya, man. If I could shove them out of my way, I would.

I've been having difficulty fighting the urge not to lately, everyone's decided to walk slowly all of a sudden.

Cbf to say it 10 times in a row, though. My solution is to try my best to be patient. Hard, but I try.

The more we rush, the more free time we'll have. Plus the majority of the human race's large ability to leave everything to the last minute meaning a rush is required.

I prefer rushing, means I have more free time, the only things I don't rush are those I like or am serious about, don't rush gym workouts, don't rush when I'm out with friends etc

What's worse is when people stand in middle of the hallway to chat to their mates or queue up. Talk about slowing you down.

People are so impatient today because everybody is used to getting everything they want now. (I'm also very impatient)

Imagine having broadband (fast internet) and then having to change to the slowest internet connection. I would get very frustrated and that just shows how impatient I am. :P

Everybody's in a hurry because there are deadlines and there are also consequences if you don't follow those deadlines. (e.g handing work in late)

Whenever I'm stuck behind people it's at school where we have 3000+ students and the hallways are as packed as a slaughterhouse so there isn't a very good chance of them hearing you or of caring. Plus I don't like the idea of using manners to people who walk slow just to look cool, at the expense of everyone else. Yes, people at my school walk slow to look cool...

or when they stand in front of your locker, and don't move, or when they hug in the middle of the hallway, and take up a load of space.

I like the rush. The "Rat Race" as many people call it.

My dad bought some land inland and wants me to live there when he dies. My inentions are to sell it and buy an apartment in the city.

I LIKE modernization. I LIKE the "Rat Race"

I try to do most things at my own pace. I feel that when people rush is when they get hurt and make mistakes. I'd rather slowly do my own thing properly, and watch Joe Blow cut off his hand. Then it'll be time to rush.. to a hostpital.

I'm very lucky because all my courses this semester end at odd times, so there's hardly ever anybody in the hallways when I do my class hopping. The only time I'm in a rush is when a city bus is late, and if none of my friends are on to distract me from the anxiety.

I think a forest is the nicest from the inside.

People are in a rush because time is limited, and everyone has a big invisible clock next to them, ticking towards death. Also, people tend to leave at the last possible minute for things, so they rush to get there.
