The owner is just ONE person. The whole chat is about the community, not the owner. The owner doesn't change the community. Sure, the owner might have different rules than that of the previous owner, but I imagine codguy's rules will be generally the same as evil_mumm_ra's.

 

The owner has quite a lot of power over the community, he/she can decide who gets banned, generaled, on which account it will be hosted etc. I can assure you, it can go wrong.

 

 

 

Regarding you not seeing why people get so hung up over this.

 

We'd like to have a host which isn't a complete moron and that we can get along with that person (you don't want to spend time in a chat which is lead by a [puncture]). The best way to achieve this is by voting for the person which you think qualifies most for that task. To make this decision you must also know the other contenders' qualities. Lets say that of the 100 votes here 50 aren't chat regulars and probably don't know any of the contestants ( I think I'm being generous there, actually ), that means that around 50 of the votes had no valid base.

 

 

 

Now, I'm not saying any of the leading aspiring-owners are not qulified, I'm merely saying that if they are really up for it then why not let the people who can probably judge them best and will have to deal with them weekly/daily decide, and only them? We'll have a host we're comfortable with and the owner will be comfortable with the thought of having the full support of the chatters.

 

 

 

If you can't understand this then I think you have nothing to do on this thread or in this poll.

 

 

 

And Evil, I'm sure you could find out who's a reliable source with a little effort, I'd be willing to give you a list of names of chatters I regularly see in here as I'm sure others/other generals will.

And trust me, once you become leader, at leats when I did I was spammed with messaqges on tif "hi i wwas kicked like idkj 2 days ago ban fhkafjl232 i know it was him." Even though said person was not even general at the time. >.< ALSO: beware, if two of your bestfriends get into a huge fight, you will HAVE to choose a side, and you may lost a friend, or both. i'd honestly have to say one of the reasons i'm currently leaving is cause of the chat. i got tired of dealing with the immaturity, so much so that i just wouldn't come on for a few days on end, or i'd come on late at night when the idiots were asleep. now, i know it's not good to call the people in my chat idiots, and by all means i am not talking about all of you, if you aren't banned, you pretty much are not an idiot. i took a harder stance on idiocy, and immaturity, and trolling towards the end, but i don't really think it helped much. whoever wins it (most likely codguy it seems), be prepared to deal with lots and lots of pm's, at least until people can get a feel for how you are as a leader, if you are too lax as a leader, you will get taken advantage of, if you are too harsh of a leader, people won't like your chat. beware of wannabe mods, beware of lurkers, etc.

Just wanted to give a heads up and explain why you may have noticed I've been less active for the last month. The reason is that I'm extremely busy with a game I'm coding and therefore have prioritised Runescape less.

 

 

 

However, I don't think it's fair that such a circumstance shouldn't stop anyone from voting for me. I've been in the chat almost everyday for the last year and actively moderated with the exception of this last month.

Edit: The number of votes people got surprised me tbh. Ace has only 3 and Faith has 7 when Ace has been around since the beginning of all blogscape chats and Faith has been here for like 2 months (no offense to faith btw, I think she'd be a pretty good leader actually.)
