RichieMcD
Wow. Your mad about this? I suppose I would be too if i was the girl, but I would get over it because I know It's for the good of the country and it made sense. If they suspected her and had good reason too, go ahead, search. I would probably want to go into a restroom with a female officer, but nevertheless. You think they're reacting too strongly about ibuprofen? well, guess what? they would have to take it too a lab and test it (probably) to make sure it was ibuprofen. if it wasn't, and there was more in her underwear, then she would probably end up going into the restroom to smoke some meth on the airplane. How did you jump from a 13 year old in possession of Ibuprofen to her lighting up in the toilet of an airplane? How is she supposed to get meth through customs and onto an airplane? I really do hate people with your attitude, how is strip searching a 13 year old for Ibuprofen "better for the country"? There is so many ways to handle the situation in question more careful and morally. I really do hope someday you experience a strip search for something so minor to know how embarrassing and aggravating the situation is.
magekillr
i make a post in the 4th amendment thread about this and all i get is one reply but now that its a new thread people complain that its a violation of their rights? :? i especially love how the princaple told the press that since they found nothing the girl should have nothing to complain about. Sorry that I missed it, I was more angry at Scalia's reasoning than anything.

Lenticular_J
Errr, why don't people stand up for their rights? I know she's thirteen, but by then I remember being able to stand up for myself. In fact, I remember refusing to let the principal search my school bag when he thought I had drugs in them. School authority has no business doing any sort of searches, students are responsible for letting them know. Because the idea that schoolteachers are the [bleep]ing second coming of Jesus is drilled into our heads every chance we get there. I've thought about joining politics just to raise a [cabbage]storm with how terrible our schools are. I've learned more playing videogames than I have in my history class. I know more about literature just from reading than English. Math, well, I don't like math anyways. And the teachers that are terrible at teaching (9 out of 10 are) are the worst. Half the time they're only teaching because they had no ambition for something better or want revenge on kids like the ones that [bleep]ed up their lives when they were kids. It's horrible. We also have a convicted sex offender that coaches at my school. And nobody's ever been told. I find that interesting. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

IGoddessI
I think that's disgusting. They could have contained the student in a room, called the police who could have used a sniffer dog to see if there were drugs anywhere else and then given the choice to turn around and hand them over or proceed with a strip search from a female officer. I also find it weird that ragmar12345 has the same mod quote as Mercifull in his signature. RpgGamer
In January 2009, the United States Supreme Court decided to review the 9th Circuit's ruling. WTF? Doesn't the supreme court have anything better to do? The case is like 6 years old now, get a new case. regardless, it seems a bit muc hto strip search a 13 year old for any reason. Especially cause she didn't have a record of any kind. Under different circumstances, I'd agree with the decision but this girl was clearly innocent.
