Featured Replies

K, so i was looking through the GE database looking for highend members armour i could wear, i check the bandos cp and tassets charts for 180 days then go wtf when i see this.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PRICE DROPS ITS ABOUT THE CHARTS BEING CLONES price drop=merch clan.

and that o_o

Their exactly the same!!

when i talked to wizzkid785 on msn and showed him this he looked up the bandos godsword and the armadyl helm and plate and said they were also the same!!

why are they exactly the same when the chestplate costs more than the tassets..?

Armadyl items seem to have the same pattern, they drop on May 12 significantly.

EDIT: May 12 was around the "Missing my Mummy" quest update.

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~

Perhaps because they were merched, raised, then dumped all around the same time and for the same percentage every day?

and what are the odds of that happening? o_o

I wouldn't even be able to speculate, but I do know that BCP and Tassets were merched and dumped within a day or so of eachother, and that BCP and Tassets weren't so different in price to start with. Maybe by a mill or two prior to the merch.

The graphs aren't EXACTLY the same, there are small differences. And because those numbers are so large, that small difference could be a couple 100k or so.

There's a lot of items that have very similar graphs, even with having nothing in common. It has to do with 'how the RS economy is doing that day'; it may sound silly but that's how RS works really.

Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!

It's because they're generally used together and, therefore, tend (heavily) to follow the same trends. Items just being similar to each other and falling under a (very) specific "category" can also cause this (h'ween masks are like this as are most party hats).

Everything had a similar pattern, zerker rings, DFS godswords, armadyl.... it was only a few weeks ago they crashed.

Everything crashed at the same time then rose i price again together - me thinks Jagex had their hand in it.

Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!

not the drop thats becuase of merch clans, why are the charts EXACTLY THE SAME?

Because Jagex are manually changing the prices of some items back to how "they think" they should be, which is why you can't even buy some items that aren't "bought out".

They are roughly the same yes, but they are a set of course they are going to follow a similar pattern.

But they are not identical.

Here I took the chest plate line and coloured it red before overlaying onto the skirt one.

Not the numbers of prices r smudged out becuz the two items are in different price ranges, but the increments are the same on each graph.

On its own graph the plate started at the exact (or as close as i could get) same point, as I have placed it.

wow nice work on overlaying. i think its not really that odd tht the graphs are similar. i think jagex's got their hands on price manipulation as well. or its just those darn merchers

Maybe Jagex link items like these in the same way they do with potions and their variants(prayer pot (1), prayer pot(2), etc.)? But from the overlapping seen above, it might only be a weak link :?

Link or not, the items are very similar and often used together, so you'd expect a somewhat similar graph.

It's not really odd. If clans are merching both items at the same time, they'll be bought up and sold out at the same rate.

Also don't forget that these are two items for the same set of armor. Generally sets go in a similar price direction, when one goes up/down, the rest follow somewhat.

People usually buy/sell both... It is a set you know. I'm betting that if you look at the graphs for the vast majority of the sets, that they will be similar.
