I think finding creative ways of getting around the energy issue of the warp drive I proposed/linked to is a lot better for the game then just being handed some convenient wormholes.

The closest black hole is around 1000 light years away.

I think one of us is misinterpreting that article, mather. Since once of the properties of exotic matter would be negative mass, and thus being repelled by gravity, that part was basically asking whether or not antimatter was exotic matter based on it's mass.

Walka, being able to do whatever we wanted and ignoring physics would make it more interesting, but also really, really stupid.

But if we use StarGate's rules the distance from the desired destination doesn't matter and the black hole would give the gates all the energy they could possibly need(if you've never seen StarGate there's a whole wikipedia page dedicted only to the physical laws aplying to the gates).

Or we could try to get the ship to emulate a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachyon or tachyon I'm not sure if this is possible but if we could do that then it would obviously be ftl travel (but would probably require immense amounts of energy.)

Norse mythology then? Maybe if you "discover" a new habbitable planet you could call it Ygdrasil(world tree(not a translation but it's job)).

Mostly Greek/Roman but I am Norway in this game so I went with Norse ;) . My colony on Mars is called Thorland, then I have Bifrost and Asgard stations. I'll eventually make it through all 8 worlds in Norse mythology and then work on other words.

You might have to skip over Midgard, to avoid confusion.

Midgard is what was formerly Gisele D.

Tachyon's don't have mass. They are exotic matter. Nothing with mass, according to Einstein's theory of special relativity states that to travel at or above lightspeed would take an infinite amount of energy.

But, the way that the warp engine I linked to would work is this. It's similar to a wormhole, but a lot less energy, and a lot more practical. It would condense spacetime in front of it, and expand it behind it, in a bubble. This would make it's distance/time make it seem like it was faster than light, but it wouldn't actually physically go faster than light, and would break no laws of physics.

We already discussed that.

Do you have any idea how much power a wormhole takes to maintain?

I think Doom found something to do with FTL travel, so we just have to wait till she comes online.

I do know how mouch energy a wormhole takes, it's 5,083,280,782,100,000,000,000,000,000 elektrons or 5,083,280 terrawatt per quarter for a 6m gate.

In theory. It's a theory.

Wormholes exist, stable however must be man-made. I calculated that, knowing that for a wormhole to exist there must be created a "barrier" of elektrons moving at the speed of light, at which point they will shimmer blue(just look at the pic at wikipedia), and some sort of gas or liquid to keep it stable at both ends, that would be created using lasers to ionize the air inside the portal.

That picture is just an artists impression.

The idea of the most accepted idea of wormholes is a combination of a white hole, which is hypothetical, and a black hole.

Wormholes are only a theory, as I said. The theories are possibly correct, but we don't know.

For Christ's sake!

I'm putting my Haven scientists on task to make white holes less myth, and more factual. I'll make a god damn white hole if that's what it takes to make a worm hole. Screw physics. We have friggin' Mars colonies!

Hmm that seems that it would work. If you made it would it be available to everyone ,or people who helped fund it, or just you?

Putting some crap on a planet a few lightseconds away is a lot different then being able to travel millions of lightyears in a second.

And we'll see how research on the drive goes, before we decide on it's availability.

Ah, true. I was actually planning on skipping the name Midgard anyways because of it being Earth and all. Now I realize there is a legitimate reason :) .

No matter how mouch more logical it is, we need near-instant travel not day-week long travels.

More players, duh!

Or maybe we can break up a few empires ;-)

But yeah, I was joking about the white hole nonsense. You guys obviously wouldn't allow it to come true, I was just pointing out that we've broken rules before through "research".

TerrAvenger production is continuing on schedule. blah blah blah. I really can't afford to do much else. And before people point at me saying "lulz you have no oil", I also don't have a military to suck all my oil up. I'm probably the most efficient country around now. And the most unified. former Germania over there probably speaks like 40 different languages. Same for Brazil.

You can have almost any of Dusty or my african countries. Except for a few I'd rather not lose.

EDIT: RPG, the language thing is a problem for Africa. In my first or second post in the thread though I said I'd require all children to learn spanish and english, so it's not a problem in the Americas, other than some indigenous minorities, who pretty much all speak another language as well.

Yea, I can't get your map to work either.

I'm fine with trading Sweden for Finland, though I don't have any claims around there.
