But the playerbase is far too strong for RS to just fade away, especially with the management it is under now. If it were to fade away, I'd predict 20 years before such a thing would happen. There are alot of dedicated players playing RS. Me_Hate_Libs Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 As much as they preach that they love that their game as an in browser game that you can play online, as a business, if it makes sense to them, I can definitely see them producing a console version, then having it be exclusively on Xbox live or some such thing. If not that, by the time it dies, I won't be around. The last thing I want to see is it being dragged out and made to suffer an painful, slow death long after the game has reached its peak for content, creativity and fun. Just watching it stand there, being propped up and covered in make up like a corpse in a coffin. And people constantly complainging and not realizing that the game has died long ago and now it's just there as a momument to its own continued misery. I really hope that doesn't happen. It will be one of those games you can tell your kids about. It's flourishing as it is though, so why worry about its demise? To sum up: I can't foresee it dying anytime soon. I doubt a series of continued updates on a particular part of the game will make everyone happy/angry. But if they have one huge update that affects the entire game (I mean EVERY aspect of it) and the game is just ruined, then everyone will quit. Those who do stay have about 4 months at the maximum before they will be forced to stop playing when they turn the servers off. This is such a depressing topic... Have you read the recent Q&A? In it he says that he really doesn't decide on updates, he lets the experts do that and he just pretty much just gives the yes or no. But yeah...you can only release so many items before it gets a bit to redundant. For melee we have up to level 75 atm....at a new weapon every 5 levels that gives us 5 new weapons before meleers quit because of nowhere to make better weapons. And, how many new skills can you come out with before MMG admits defeat and releases sailing thus forcing all sailing hating players to quit. Think about it - the panic that ensues from either the 2012 or 2038 doomsday scenario is sure to have some super-panicked technician misplace one or two critical pointers in the game server's OS, thus causing the game servers to not only shut down, but also cause the financial server to be knocked offline for a week and a half. That'd probably be enough to do the game in. Seriously though, even if it has to come to an end, most of us will be well into our forties or older, and we'll be way too busy dealing with our angsty teen children playing some god-forsaken online MMO to remember RuneScape... thunderlord Posted August 8, 2009 Share Posted August 8, 2009 more and more people come that think they are the rulers of the game and annoy every other player they meet, prive manipulating clans grow bigger and bigger, a whole new generation of botters, people find more and affective ways to afk and gain giant amounts of xp overnight, G.E must be admitted as epic fail by very unstable prices that can go from +50%/-50% price fluctating every day because of the manipulating clans. due to all of this Jagex decides to make mechscape the main project. But when the time is ready I will teleport myself to antoher dimension Codenamed "mechscape" Where I will start just as I started off in Runescape.
