RsArrow
All good things must come to an end... Just post how and when you would Imagine the end of Runescape and Jagex. How would the players react to your scenrio? My scenrio would be that JageX would ether leave Runescape for future sucessful Mechscape (as RSC was left for RS2) As far as the end of both I would have to say, bankruptcy. After Jagex is seeing that they will no longer hold up as a company, they decied to sell Runescape. The new company would then take over Runescape but fail to do things players used to like (I.e. updates, customer support, banning players). With the same contant that would not be updated and Autoers marcoing to 99, Runescapes population would begin to dwindle at an increasing rate untill the players were in 100s. At which point Runescape would be turned offline, once the number of players went below 100. forestfrolic
I can't think of any non-fictional way the game or the company would end. Maybe you should supply your own theory first? Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..
Kenshinjapan
A mass attack of chinese gold farmers that don't pay their membership fees cause Jagex to go bankrupt overnight : . That'd be quite an interesting end. YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!
Toad
With constant updates it can't really end, people will always play runescape, people still play counterstrike, doom etc.. Before internet we never had RPGs on this scale, even if we all quit on this forum, eventually a new batch of players will begin playing.
LegsOSkill
I honestly don't think RuneScape will come to an end; or at least not in my generation. It will be one of those games you can tell your kids about. It's flourishing as it is though, so why worry about its demise? To sum up: I can't foresee it dying anytime soon. ilovecuttingyews
The only way I can see RS falling apart anytime in the next 10 years is of another game of WOW's stature comes with F2P and spends millions on advertising to kids to prevent new players from coming into other games. langer
I see RS2 being replaced by a newer version of the game in the next 5-10 years, but I don't see the end of this game anytime soon. A very worst case scenario of a 30% loss in player base per year would result in still nearly 30 000 players at the same time playing this game 5 years from now. With minimal maintenance cost, the game would still probably be profitable. And that would be a worst case scenario in terms of popularity. The very worst case would be if Jagex made a huge investment and tried to compete direclty against Blizzard and failed. This could lead to a quick bankruptcy and they might have to sell their rights of RS. I don't expect anything like this to happen. Mio
If it did end i'd proberly think it would be via bank ruptcy is the most likely thing that would end runescape.. But jagex seems like a stable company, so i doubt that would be happening anytime soon.. :)

nerdboyxxx
No way mechscape will take over runescape, it is a completely separate project, just like Blizzard's Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft games (which are all been updated with newer versions atm). So, that wouldn't be the end. Honestly? I'd have to say bankruptcy. If they can't get enough members into the game (for example, a major update that just destroys members altogether). Then they'd probably sell the game off to some other company or just give it up. Either way, I'd quit. It just wouldn't be the same without Jagex messing things up, I don't need another company doing it for them ;) This game is so popular there's no way it's going out of business anytime soon :D

Star_Fox
it wouldn't be something i would pass out as a tradition. plenty of online games are considered dead but there will always be people that'll continue playing. i still find potential matches on my wifi connection for mario kart ds! online games can't literally die overtime. it can only be considered dead unless the company that owns it shuts off the content itself. Bauke
1. Runescape will start losing players gradually. 2. Once the player base is down to a certain level, Jagex announces they will stop supporting the game. 3. Player base continues to die out. 4. Eventually Jagex will shut the servers down. That is how it most likely will happen. The question is... when. I reckon Runescape has many more years to come. Zepheras
I think it'll be a good fight between who would die out first, Polemon or RuneScape. \ "Do you really want to go back to the time when Falador was grey, lesser demon look like goats, dragons look like cows, hellhound look like cats and your character stands as stiff as a statue?" -F1775
