A year ago I never knew I would be making a thread like this. I have always been drug free, never even smoked weed; and at my age (22) that is pretty rare these days. I've been going out a lot since my ex girlfriend cheated on me, we're talking upwards of 3 nights a week at bars, clubs. I got sick of the huge alcohol tabs and wanted an alternative, so per a friend's request I started snorting oxycontin pills....It was all fun and games at first but doing it every time I went out turned into almost every night no matter what I was doing. Thankfully the pills are really expensive so that helped making quitting easier. I'm on day 3 now, thankfully I'm stopping after only 2 months of recreational use, I can definitely see how incredibly addicting painkillers can be. I strongly discourage use of these other than their intended purposes. Please share any stories of addictions here and maybe we can all help each other get over them..

Prescription drugs are very addictive, which is why I've never done them.

Umm.. not addicted to anything I want to stop. Good to hear you were able to help yourself, though. I just don't see why you'd switch from liquor due to the tabs to a pill that you say is really expensive.

I find weed to be more addicting than cigarettes oddly enough.

in 7th grade, runescape was a major addiction. kids next to me were specifically gossiping about me because of runescape, i called my friends by their runescape names, and people simply hated me since i was so addicted to it. :wall:

I seem to have a small dependency on prescription tranquillisers. I was prescribed them a couple of years ago for anxiety attacks; and although I probably don't need them now, I start feeling a little out-of-sorts if I neglect to take any. Not really like an anxiety attack, just... odd. It's usually a few days before that sets in though, and I barely take them anymore.

I don't get why people are so afraid to try weed because of addiction. I can assure you painkillers are MUCH worse than weed. Hell, Cigarettes are much worse and they are legal!

Eh well, i've used Snus (Swedish tobacco product) since i was 14 (21 now)... I have quit two times 4+4 months... But the crap drags me back. Tried quitting 2 weeks ago, was without it for 2 days... But on the evening i was about to punch a hole in the wall... So, off to the shop.

 

I wonder how many 100's of euros i've thrown away on it. I will try quitting again in a couple of weeks, it's no good... It messes up my stamina and blood pressure.

the state of mind that marijuana gives me is addicting, but i've not actually had weed for a while except recreationally with friends a few weeks ago. there is no better antidepressant if you ask me. cigarettes for stress, marijuana for depression. all the medicine i need. except for the occasional cold/flu medicine. :P

I had a titanium bar surgically placed in my chest a week ago, and now I'm on percocet, aka, oxycontin.

Marijuana is the dried form of the Cannabis bud. It really is just a plant. Any smoke is harmful to the lungs, but the fact of the matter is that nothing in marijuana smoked has been linked to any kind of cancer, and THC has actually been shown to reduce the size of cancerous tumors.

 

 

 

But you can reduce any kind of risk by 100% by simply using a vaporizer, and reduced quite a bit by using some sort of water filtration when smoking.

I think there is a legitimate case for smoking marijuana.. but the plant argument fails because there are a lot of plants and natural things that are very unhealthy. So the fact that marijuana is a plant, doesn't mean a thing.

When they say that they mean that there is just Marijuana when you smoke it, whereas in a cigarette there are many chemicals including stuff like tar which they put on roads and nicotine which is highly addictive. Someone already posted exactly what is in it.

I'm glad to hear that you're quitting oxy, imo it's the worst drug to get addicted to. I lost my best friend to oxy, he did whatever he could just to get a hit and ended up screwing me out of $200 just to get some pills. We're no longer friends and now he's selling drugs and is living on the street.

 

 

 

I got addicted to xanax 2 years ago, my anxiety kept me from sleeping so the doctor had prescribed them to me. At first I took the recommended dosage, but I soon found out they could get you high. I would take them one after another to get high and to stay high, and this went on anytime I could get my hands on them. I loved the feeling they gave you and I started to experiment with other pills, and soon I started to try just about anything to get me high. I continued this for quite awhile before I finally realized how bad I was getting, soon after I quit.

Yeah, but then they go and say it doesn't count as a plant, because you do something to it to make the drug, all the pothead's at my school say "weed's not a drug, it's just a plant, there's nothing wrong with it it's natural." Which is [bleep]ing stupid, because it's still a drug, even if it is just a plant, and essentially all drugs come from plants in some form or another.
