The Dark Lord
Dusty, I've seen AK-47s for sale in the States before, so I assume that it's legal for some odd reason. I live in Dixie, so there are a crapload of guns here. I've shot some pistols, .22 rifles, and shotguns at targets before. They're pretty damn fun, but the recoil from shotguns can make them harder to shoot if you aren't too familiar with them. .22-Caliber rifles have little to no recoil to them and are much quieter to shoot. Pistols are fun, but if you have to load a new shell into the chamber by pulling the top part back, you have to be careful how you hold it when firing. The top part has a tendency to pinch the living hell out of you if you aren't careful. I've also shot Civil War-era reproduction rifles. Those things are kind of fun and you can see the flames come out of the barrel. It sucks that you have to open the black powder pouch with your teeth when reloading. Black powder tastes kind of like salt if anyone wanted to know. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. Albel
Im not the biggest shooter when I was 10 years old. I shoot, every now and then, for fun and some R&R. I own... a 50 caliber black powder rifle, and a 12 gauge shotgun. My uncle however, has enough gund for a army. back in the 70's he worked for the Ruger gun company in Connecticut. He shoots a lot more then me  [hide=Quotes]Albel/JustinAlbel doesn't say anything anymore, just comes in, leaves an arrow and vanishes into the night :(Probablypractising some euphoniumYou nearly had me fooled, you fooler youEuphonium/10.9/10. i_love_burritos
Eh' I'm disgruntled with Australia's primitive gun laws. [Actually if they were primitive, guns would abound] Anyway, despite this fact, I've shot on a few occasions. Namley .22 and .303 Rifles only though. No shotguns, handguns or the like. I'm a pretty good shot, average about 50mm groupings. Then again I haven't gone since, well for a few years.
Kriegsmier
I've shot pretty much everything under the sun. Benefit of the military. .22 pistol to a Browning .50cal. I love it, love getting that rush when you get behind the gun. My favorites so far are the .50cal and the MK 19 grenade launcher. I don't want to brag but, i'm trained to hit black at 500 yards with iron sights on an M16 ;) I currently have a Springfield Armory field grade (Shootable not a wall hanger) M1 Garand on order that i will receive once i get back into the country. Can't wait. I currently carry an M16A4 with an ACOG every day. Still waiting on my M4 Carbine i requested months ago. Will also be getting issued a Beretta M9 very soon, can't wait for them to bring the .45 back into service. Just a small list of some notable stuff i've shot: -M2 Browning .50cal -MK-19 Grenade launcher -M240 -M249 SAW -M16 (A2/A4) -M4 Carbine -AT4 The trick to shooting and hitting what you are aiming at is sight alignment and trigger control, thats really all you need. Everything else falls into place. For anyone that hasn't shot an M16 or M4 before, it shoots very much like a .22. Very little recoil with a small caliber round. Lemme tell you, theres nothing like hearing the sounds of a .50cal or MK-19. They will literally rattle you're body and shake the dirt around your feet. The power is incredible. Love this topic btw. Furah
Stupid Australian gun laws. I have never shot a gun and will be a while before I do. I've looked at what I need to get a shooting licence. Only plausible one would be to join a shooting range, problem is the local one won't let you join unless you have a shooting licence. It's catch 22 and I turn 18 in April next year, so I really want to fire a gun when I'm 18. Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. Quote of 2013. Nom
I personally own a .22 and a 12 gauge, and I can pretty much go set up some targets in the yard and shoot whenever I want. I want a clay pigeon launcher, those things are insanely fun. Haven't shot anything in a while, though. I want to shoot a good compound bow with a decent draw weight. I've only ever shot crappy recurves and this old "junior" compound bow I got years ago. Filling cans with water and shooting them with BB guns is great fun, also. Nero
Dusty, I've seen AK-47s for sale in the States before, so I assume that it's legal for some odd reason Yea, I think there was some weird loophole in the assault weapon ban in the states that allowed you own an automatic rifle as long as you had purchased it before the ban. There's also a handful of miniguns that get passed from collector to collector in the states as well, and they're legal since they were owned before some point in time. I had to work range detail for an MP company once, and they brought a MK-19 mounted on a Humvee. The recoil was so strong it was pushing the truck backwards as they fired. It was such an awesome sight. I had a friend in Minnesota who got an AK-47. It wasn't an automatic though, only semi-auto. He had to get a license to carry first, which didn't make much sense. What are you going to do? Baconxl
Can't talk about hunting? Pfft. I've shot 10, 12, 16, and 20 gauge shotguns. Own a 12 and 20, the 16 one I shot was from WWII which is awesome. Own two .33s and two .22s, getting hunting license in a couple weeks for bow, shotgun and rifle. Only 16 so that's good so far I suppose.
indy500fan
I only own one gun and two bows. The gun is a Mossberg International .22 702 Plinkster: I have a really weak bow from when I was younger, probably 10 pound pull, just a kids bow I got when I was 8 or so. No accuracy to speak of. Then I got a training bow when I was 13 or so, I have it cranked down all the way so it's around a 45 pound pull (65% let off). It has OK accuracy from what I remember, haven't used it in years. Wow that sounds extreme. Where I live guns are only ever used for hunting, so I've used a .22 to shoot wabbits ;)

Not really a loophole, but just designed to make sure the companies didn't go out of business. A pre-ban m16 costs like a few grand. A semi-auto AK isn't banned though. A full auto ak-47 made before the ban is legal, if you have the right license which costs a few hundred bucks and a background check. They're crazy expensive though compared to other guns. You could buy a barret 82a1 sniper for the price of some pre ban guns. The most recent assault rifle ban which is now expired is just stupid. It bans things that really don't matter. Like a shotgun with a telescoping or folding stock. Oh noes, folding stocks. Ok sorry about discussing laws, but whatever. My friend's uncle has a pre-ban ak-47. I haven't shot it, but it's pretty cool. Hegemony-Spain
transcript80
Never shot a "powder powered" gun... not sure how you'd call it. I only shot light air powered rifles, the crappy kind you find on fairs. The one my uncle owns is barely heavy enough to shoot a small bird. I think a paint ball gun doen't count. I'd really like to shoot some "real" guns, rifle, shotgun or hand weapon, but the gun laws are very strickt here (which is good). You have to have a permit to even shoot a hand gun or rifle on a range, let alone own one. There are very few fire ranges anyway. You can only own gun for hunting purposes. I'd like to go skeet shooting sometimes, I think it'd be really awesome. For some odd reason you don't need a permit for that. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked... llamster
^The term is firearm. I've shot a .22 rifle at summer camp before. But I'd really like to shoot a pistol. i_love_burritos
What's with all these .22 ? No higher calibres ? No recoil, no chuk dwuf. No fun. Even in Australia with these draconian laws you can get over .
Kriegsmier
I agree! I prefer higher calibers. Love shooting .40 and .45 pistol, also .30-06 for Rifle. .22's are plinkers!

My dad was making fun of me. He was a combat engineer in the Marines, so he got to shoot all sorts of [cabbage] - tanks a couple times during his time in the service, his M16 just about every other day, mounted weapons as often as he could ... He never shot a .45 unless he had to, though. I always thought that was wierd. Anyways, when I start living on my own, I plan on keeping more guns than my father. He never really kept many around, I had to go to my extended family about guns. But now I really like shooting. Hunting still isn't very exciting for me, but, who knows. Maybe I'll learn to bow-hunt. Or just jump out of the trees and wrestle bucks to death. :P catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
