There are currently 2 things slowing you down with the eating/cutting method. The first is not getting a caviar/roe, where your next fish will then occur after 5 ticks. The next is there's always a chance that you won't get a fish immediately after 3 ticks. If you fail to get a fish, it won't try to give it to you for another 5 ticks(8 total). By having the purple sweets, you can reduce it to 6 ticks by eating. The sweets will also replace the caviar/roe if you don't get it. So while it won't be 124k Xp/hr due to the chance of not actually getting a fish at 3 ticks, it should still be 100k+ Xp/hr with the addition of the sweets. The urns will also increase the Xp/hr a bit.

=o cool thanks. I caught and banked 1000 fish, the average fishing xp is 65, average agility/str is still 11 now I'll check how often you don't get roe/caviar.

 

EDIT: You get food 84% of the time. So from 99-200m you would need 460k sweets. Lol! they are 10k each now so that would be 4.6B. But it save 330 hours so you only need to be able to make 14m/hr.

And for purely sweets to be better you need to be able to make 44m/hr I don't know if that's possible with merching now.

 

You're also completely neglecting to calculate in the times when you don't get a fish after 3 ticks. There's a small chance that you will fail to get one(I am NOT referring to caviar/roe) and will be forced to wait another 5 ticks unless you ate again, in which case it'd be only another 3 ticks.

 

 

Also, @all the guys speculating about suomi,

he's currently intending on using his effigies on slayer and saving his extra melee xp for moneymaking. He'll be doing 200m rc all the way through right now unless he decides to change his mind again. He has been considering doing 200m slayer now as well.

I thought you said that didn't happen with sweets. So then what is the xp rate of purely sweets? And when you said I was neglecting to calc did that refer to the costs?

Also, with urns it is 1 agil xp to 17.2 fishing and 1 cook to 7.9 fishing.

It referred to both costs and the times/hr that you're eating sweets. I won't know specific rates until Foot gets around to testing how many sweets he'd use per hour. He won't test it until he has some more cash.

Update of the top 15

 

1. Skiller (previously Aasiwat) : 2,55B xp (+18M). Bouncing back after a slower week, skiller is back to training slayer. He's consolidating his position as the player with the most skills over 100M with 13 once he get that last 50K ranged xp. He's also closing on 2 more skills over 100M. Coming milestones: 100M attack and 100M summoning

2. Jdelacroix : 2,40Bxp (+13M). Not much new skillwise (dungeon, slayer, thieving and farming), but focusing on thieving and dungeoneering, Jdelacroix reached 2,4B xp and is widening the gap with Drumgun and about to get 2 more skills over 100M. Coming milestones : 100M xp ranged and 100M HP

3. Drumgun : 2,40B xp (+10M). Still working with wood full time, Drumgun is on his way to become the first player to 10 and 11 skills at 200M and will reach 2,4B xp next week. Coming milestones : 2,4B xp

4. Zarfot 2,35B xp. Inactive.

5. telmomarques : 2,29B xp (+33M). An effigy dumping week for this ex rank 1 on the highscore, still training slayer, he reached 100M HP last week for his 10th skill over 100M. I wouldn't be surprised if he catches up to Skiller before summer. Coming milestones : 200M str (8th), 2,3B xp and 100M ranged

6. Elvis : 2,28B xp (+20M). Still training herblore and crafting, Elvis has moved back to slayer last week. He will reach his 10th skill over 100M with herblore later this week-end. Coming milestones : 100M herblore, 2,3B xp and 200M crafting (6th)

7. Elias : 2,12B xp (+25M). Elias is still slaying and he has reached 2,1B xp last week. Contrary to a lot of top players and like Skiller, Elias is not hoarding effigies, but is using them on the spot which means he doesn't have deflated XP. Coming milestones : 100M magic

8. Gertjaars : 2,02B xp. Inactive.

9. S U O M I : 2,01B xp (+23M). He became the 2nd player to achieve 8 skills at 200M when he maxed out dungeoneering last week as well as the 10th player to reach 2B xp. He then moved on to training RC, another slow skill. He gained a rank from Paperbag and he will pass Gertjaars next week. Coming milestones : nothing in sight

10. Paperbag : 2,01B xp (+13M). Still training ranged and farming, Paperbag reached 2B xp last week but lost a rank to Suomi in the process. He will pass Gertjaars next week and since Suomi is training a slow skill, I wouldn't be surprised if he passes him too. Coming milestones : 200M ranged (8th skill)

11. Tezz : 1,98B xp (+22M). Still slaying and no effigies dumping this week for Tezz, he's about to max out both slayer and Str for his 6th and 7th skill at 200M. He has multiple milestones coming and with magic and ranged unfinished once he gets 200M slayer, I expect many more effigies for Tezz. Coming milestones : 2B xp, 100M summon, 200M slayer (6th) , 200M str (7th), 100M magic and 100M ranged.

12. Kingduffy : 1,89B xp (+5M). About to reach 1,9B xp, Kingduffy had a slow week for a top player mainly training FM and dungeoneering. Coming milestones : 100M WC and 1,9B xp

13. Lan : 1,87B xp. Inactive.

14. Erw J : 1,85 xp. Inactive.

15. Green098 : 1,80B xp (+6M). A slower week for Green, she's dumped a bunch of effigies and trained some magic last week in the process of getting 1,8B xp. She has a 70M xp lead on Skiller 703 at rank 16, but he's gaining a lot on her lately. Coming milestones : 100M HP

I can easily see Skiller reaching 3B xp in 2011 (means 450M xp in 300 days) as well as Telmomarques and Elvis if they keep the same pace they are on.

I wouldn't bet against Drumgun also...

You could just get the number of sweets used/hr when using only sweets and take away the number of roe gotten, since the purely sweets method would include the extra sweets needed if 1 isn't caught after 3 ticks. Sorry if I am wrong again >.< I don't understand eat/fish very well.

If I am not wrong do you know the sweets/hr of purely sweets?

I'm guessing that if you don't get a fish within a certain timeframe, and have no caviar to eat (Reset fishing timer.) That you eat purple sweets to do it so you can get another fish faster.

I THINK that that is what they're talking about, Don't quote me on it.

What is this whole purple sweets thing we're discussing?

 

Ok if you are doing barb fishing and you have say level 10,000 fishing (ie. you never miss a fish, ever.) You will get a fish every 5 ticks. Now if you eat something in between each fish you can increase that rate to a fish every 3 ticks. This is can be done by the cut and eat method. This is where you cut each fish so that you get caviar/roe, then you eat that, thus giving you the next fish in 3 ticks instead of 5. Occasionally when you cut the fish you won't get any caviar/roe when this happens you won't have anything to eat meaning that you will get the next fish in 5 ticks. This is where the purple sweeties come in. They are the only stackable and tradable food. You eat one of these when you don't get caviar/roe so that you can continuously get a fish every 3 ticks.

 

Now we don't have level 10,000 fishing, we have 99 (at least for these calculations.) With 99 fishing you get a fish almost every 3 ticks, but sometimes you miss the opportunity to get a fish on that last tick. Because even at level 99 you still "fail" occasionally. (Just like falling during agility, or burning a fish while cooking) so then you have a wait another 5 ticks to get another fish, only 3 ticks if you eat sweetie. (Just like when you didn't get the caviar/roe; expect now you didn't get xp, but you still had to eat.)

 

So this discussion is about trying to figure out about how many times you fail to get caviar/roe and how many times you fail to get a fish per hour. This will tell us how approximately how many purple sweeties we need to eat per hour thus giving us the cost of the optimal method to get 200m fishing. This will also tell us approximately how much xp per hour we will get thus giving us the time spent fishing to 200m.

 

 

 

In other news suomi has gained 6m cons xp today, looks he will finally get max total relatively soon.

Hey Jebrim or anyone else that knows a lot about fish/eat method, would it be possible to have some purple sweets in the inventory and eat them when you get fish offcuts and gain the full 120k/hr or whatever you would get with purely purple sweets.

 

It works, but I don't think spending 8k to save 2 ticks is worth your money.

A "tick" is Runescape's most basic unit of time and each tick = 0.6 seconds. Every action takes up a certain integer of ticks. For example, take combat. Every time you attack your opponent, one tick is the actual attack, and the rest of the time until your next attack is 1.8 seconds (3 ticks, then the tick after, you would be attacking again).
