A while back, maybe 4 months ago, when we still had the ooooold 26k system i was standing around gaining EP. I was wearing the normal anti-PK'er gear. Skillcape, Dragonhide, Dragon Boots, Neit helm, Barrows Gloves, Fury, Dragon Scimitar and a Rune Defender. Sure, to anyone from afar it might look like i am decently prepaired incase i get attacked, what they did not know that in my inventory was hidded a SGS. Obviously i would not just attack anyone that came along, i was risking far too much.... Well, anyway. Long story short. I missclicked, got skulled and got taken out so fast i couldnt even think about flicking on my Protect item Prayer. I ended up loosing a great deal of my bank. I got what most EP'ers deserve.

 

After losing what i have worked on for a few months i decided that RS sint all about the money, its about the fun. I startesd PK'ing for fun. Bought myself 3 full Statius sets, 3 Whips, 3 D boots, 3 Furys, 3 Rune Defenders, 3 Barrows gloves and 3 Skillcape(t)'s. Along with that i spent about 1mil on food and potions. I also bought 2 Dharok sets. I now had nothing left in my bank (maybe a few 100k). First 2 Statius sets made me back the money i spent on it, last one i lost after i got 3 hit the first time wearing it :P Dharoking was the best though. Deciding on whether to eat or hit as you drop below 20 HP. Anyway i ended up loosing both the Dharok sets after about 4 hours of PK'ing (people saw me as a fool for being willing to skull with Dharoks). Even though i lost about 120m in the space of 2 days (Not to mention the Claws and various other items i lost) i still enjoyed myself. Even though the drops werent always too great, i felt i got more satisfaction out of beating another player. I guess what i'm trying to say is:

This is not a queationare. As i hope to discuss the different views of PK'ing instead of just asking a blunt question. Also if you feel this belongs in Graveyard then move it if you must. and if there is already a thread like this you ave my apologies.

I don't pk. I'm not serious enough for it, I just don't pay attention or don't care about actually killing the other person. It's actually pretty boring if you ask me, most of the time you spend in pvp isn't even spent fighting. I guess I'm just not into the competitive aspect of it that much, I don't care if I beat someone else, I'd just rather not die and lose stuff.

Hardest part of PvP is finding an actuall fight. Most of the time i have to spend half an hour before i find someone gutsy enough to take on Statius and Stat Warhammer.

I pk to make other people lose stuff nowdays. I know it sounds cruel but watching someone lose a 200mil bank from 2 cannon shots is amazing.

Now only if there was a way to get even 1/100th of the worth of stuff I've downed with a cannon #-o

Ive never really tried Ranged or Mage based PvP. I've always stuck with my trusty Whip and Stat Warhammer.

I keep meaning to seriously PK, but the cost/reward for true pk'ing is worth less then "tricking". I hate the idea of tricking so its not appealing to me atm.

 

I loved the old system, you risked your items to get there items simple as.

I don't PK anymore either. Even in the old system there was way too much waiting around/hunting for a fight; there was also never enough of an incentive to get normal players into the wilderness.

 

I did used to enjoy the tactics and weapon selection though, I also used to enjoy posing as a green dragon killer to go after the pkers there. These days however, I wouldn't have the first clue about what to take or what to hybrid together...

yeah pretty much, rs is boring. i'm not spending my money much these days so i see no point pking for money

i was a dh pker, be4 the 'permanent skull' came out, and I did use a stat hammer as a k0 wep once, then lost it -.- (thanks pjers! you really help me lose my cash!) now im stuck with only 11m to spare, and I accidently lost my best eqipment due to a glitch. so im not really a fan of pvp nemore, unless I get a team together and own everyone in sight :D

I did something very similar, yet not as much of a loss.

 

I found myself with 42m cash in my bank, with nothing to do. A couple of statius sets, a vls, and a star hammer later, I found myself with 25m. I think 17m is a good price to pay for a couple of VERY fun days.

I used to pk for fun, but now you have to risk too much to be in contention.

 

Let's not kid ourselves, rsc pking was the best, it was unparralleled. And I can guarantee over 80% of players then were pkers, it was what the entire game was based around. Since rs2 it's gown downhill, no longer can you 3 hit, people can reduce ur dmg dramatically, armor is way to inpenetrable, blah blah blah. So jagex moved more into a pve style, no more were you skilling to further your chances in the wilderness, you were skilling to ... get levels - lul. So yeah, eventually pking has come to this, and it's nearly out of existance.

 

I haven't pked for 3 years now, don't know if I can get back into it.

I PvP, but only in places where I do not lose my items. Which pretty much means either 1-iteming in BH +1 worlds, or Clan Wars FFA.

 

I do it for fun really. Nothing much.

For fun, chasing down runners and 1 itemers is where its at. <3:

As long as they dont attack me while im pking, i really dont care about 1 itemers.

 

I generally pk for fun,loot is what makes the fun continue by covering the cost of pots,food,lots weapons, ect.Deep wild pking is the best, although its kind of hard to survive out there compared to edge.Still a lot of fun.

If you want to call what I do pking, then I do it for something different. I take my DDS and run around Falador killing other 1 itemers. I let the actual pkers pk and pay no attention to them unless they start attacking me, in which case i keep coming back and poisoning them :D

 

I usually try to find a full outfit of stuff I get killing people or taking what others leave on the ground..never made it to full gear, lol

I pk just for fun and occasionally for money.
