The genie summons a hole to hell, but he isn't sending you there, he just wants to summon fires from hell to attack you. He is doing that for wasting his time by not deciding what to wish for, and he got enough of waiting. You're not dead, you're just in a hospital, for five years, then you will get back to normal.

Since you didn't wish for anything, the genie uses a spell on you to make everyone (even the ones you care much for) hate you, and inanimated objects, (like DVD player and computer) work like crap.
