In BF3 you can use jets, tanks, choppers, mortars, sniper rifles, etc. Add to that the fact that MW3 maps are almost universally tiny and BF3 maps are generally very large, and you end up using a lot more strategy and thinking than just reflexes. It also matters more what guns you use, since in MW3 everything kills in under a second (I checked the official gun data). Under a second. I doubt anything but a sniper with a straight pull or a powerful rifle with a headshot could do that, but in MW3, a second to kill is a long time.

Just saying, I have yet to see anyone kill anything with a jet. Also sniper rifles, choppers, and mortars seem quite difficult to use well.

I have been killed in under a second quite a few times because of folks who sneak up on me and loose a few bullets with a PDW or other automated weapon. Unlike BFBC2, there aren't really any buildings I've seen that you can just defend.

I've seen 2 types of jets flying around, those that are just starting and those that have like 500+ jet kills. The latter of which is shockingly difficult to deal with, especially when they equip dual flares. Choppers are easy to pilot, but are likewise easy to die in, so most of the killing will be done by your co-pilot/gunner assuming you know how to work together. Mortars, I haven't really seen used effectively yet, and I mostly just do it for fun. They'd be much more useful when combined with a recon's MAV. Sniper rifles disappoint me in this game. It's practically chest/head shots or nothing. literally put three rounds in a guy and only got a Kill Assist 37. 3 rounds for 37% damage? bogus.

  • Well considering the game should be for PC and was catered way too much towards consoles meaning that the game was much more limited then it could have been for pc, you should count yourself lucky

  • For the mobile artillery, if you bring up your map after you fire, you can see where missiles land. It gives a little splash mark where each one hits.

Is this PC? Because you can't do shit with jets on the console versions as far as I can tell.

A single guy with mortars and an ammo box probably got 30+ KDR in a short match I was playing a while ago. He just sat in the enemy spawn point, I was the only one to even try shooting him.

PS3. I literally just played against a guy with a 813 Jet Kill dog tag. No idea how he's that good with it though. I'm curious as to how no one killed the mortar guy in your match. That's just bad team work.

It may just be me, but the jets seem to take ages to turn. I try to take out another jet, it gets out of my LOS, and by the time I've turned around I can't find it again, thanks to the fact that for some reason it won't let me spot them while I'm in one.

Shooting them down is hilarious though, especially when you watch one crash into a rock right next to you.

Funny moment with an enemy jet: it had gone down, but survived somehow. I go up to it, thinking there's nobody in it and start repairing it. A few seconds later I get a kill from killing a guy in the jet, because apparently repair tools...destroy things?

Talking a lot about jets...randomly, if I crash accidentally, I get flung into the sky and out of the boundaries. It's pretty hilarious when you're parachuting for about a minute and watching everyone from above. :shades:

Turn the afterburner off when you're turning in a normal banking turn as it increases the size of the jets "turning circle". If you want to make a tight turn in a dogfight or whatever, hold down the left trigger/brakes (on 360) and turn in the direction you want to go. This bleeds all your speed and makes the jet turn faster, but obviously at the expense of forward speed so get on the throttle and afterburner once you're facing the way you want to go.

As for boosters, which game modes are they most prevalent in? Had a dude go 101-0 in a conquest game with like 50,000+ score. I dunno if he was boosting or if he was just ridiculously good.

I have only seen my friend get one, maybe two kills if he does nothing but fly the jet for an entire game of rush. And that's when we lost while defending. Snipers are really hit and miss with their damage consistency, since I've been killed in one shot by a MK11 MOD O (no headshot), and I've had times where it takes three hits to kill a guy with my SV98. Straight pull bolt doesn't affect damage, just makes it so you don't have to scope out to put another round in the chamber. Mortars are pretty simple, but you better hope someone else doesn't set up their own without you noticing, otherwise you're dead, since mortars appear on the radar constantly (which is pretty stupid IMO). Helicopters... well I have no idea. I'm ok with them, but I prefer ground warfare.

Also, flares should come with a set amount, or a longer re-arming time. Can't shoot ANYTHING down with a stinger since by the time you're reloaded and locked on, the enemy has flares again.

EOD boosters are more in Rush, while I imagine the nemesis boosters are in Conquest. Haven't seen those before.

He was far into the 'if you walk into this area you die' boundary, right by his team's spawn, there were a shitload of blind spots where no one could see. Also no air vehicles.

It's redundant, but this game is so much fun playing with friends/people who communicate. I actually had fun when metro came on the rotation. Holy shit.

Also, does flak even help? I keep feeling let down by it. Maybe I am expecting too much?

Op. Firestorm is great fun when you're sitting on a hill picking off jets. :D

I managed to get over 200m with a Abrams on Caspian Border last night. Pretty sure that's my longest since I never touch the recon class.

It's shit like this that makes me wish I had a PVR or some recording device.

669 m headshot = camping sniper doing barely any good for his team. Also note the decent KD but below 1 WL. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to be.

I imagine it's probably more worth sniping when you've got friends you're playing with, who you can support by taking out the guys who're pinning them down.

Wow, saw is amazing compared to the type 88. There's a little recoil, but it's much more manageable than the t88.

Also, I'm loving the ragdoll effects. Rocketing an enemy into the air with a tank shell is hilarious.

Criticize me all you want, I play however the hell I want to and will continue to. I manage to get usually 15-20 kills from that distance, and playing rush it usually helps out. And win/loss really has nothing to do with 1 person, more or less I play the game for fun, not to brag about stats. Thanks :)

[bleep]ing hell, my xbox keeps freezing mid game. This is really annoying.
