Madmanpur3
I realize it's not the coldest recorded winter ever, but it sure as hell wouldn't surprise me if it was. Living in South Dakota I've had the luxury of experiencing above freezing temperatures once this month, yep just one time when it got to a scorching 36 degrees. The typical day this year however has been highs ranging from 5-15 with lows most days being below zero (I think the lowest so far has been -23 not factoring windchill). This arctic spell has been here since mid December and is showing no signs of letting up (how can it when the land is covered in over a foot of snow?). So tell me, how many of you have seen someone get pushed backwards on an icy sidewalk due to wind? Or seen someone wear full snowsuit to class and instead of getting made fun of people were jealous of them? Or seen people's beard's get frozen on their walk to class? I guess this discussion is for all of those who hate cold. As for those of you someplace warm right now, . Current temp is -3 F with a low tonight of -12 F. May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!First annual Clausmas - 2009 December
stevepole
My winter wasn't very cold actually, for a matter of fact our winter in Washington State was warmer then most years. It didn't snow once at my house this year and we typically get a foot or two at the least but it is also an El Nino year so winters are typically warmer because of that. Giordano
Last winter was the coldest for us...and longest. Still chilly during June...usually hot as hell by then; it was an awkward last day of school. So far this year hasn't been as cold but its not over neither. Coandca5
It's been warm here, too. It's 6 degrees and I've seen people in short sleeve shirts outside. Except, -6 wind chill ftl.
unkn0wnwarrior
-12 F? I waited for a school bus for 20 minutes in worse than that a few years ago. It's only down to 10 F here right now, though. This has been a mild winter to say the least. I'm just glad I work in a cold environment or I would go insane.
RpgGamer
This winter's actually been significantly warmer this year. In my memory by this time we'd already be in the 10-20 F range. But we're still chillin in the mid 30's. The other day it was like 46 F and it was AMAZING. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Anyone who likes logic is incapable of tacos. Flyingjj
How long have you lived in South Dakota? I've lived there my whole life, and temperatures below freezing are the norm. It's winter. Sure over the past few we've had some warm streaks in the middle of winter, but generally it remains below freezing into March, and sometimes April if we get a nice April blizzard. It's the norm in South Dakota tbh.
Kaphias
[kitty], its 5 above here and we say its WARM alaska ftw. just buy a nice coat and man up :)Where in AK, if I may ask? We've had an very odd winter so far this year, we had two cold spells where it got down to about 10ºF, but apart from that its been around 32º and we haven't had a big snowfall yet. It's made skiing a pain, you could still see the ground in quite a few places up until 2 weeks ago. 8,325th to 99 Firemaking 3/9/08 | 44,811th to 99 Cooking 7/16/084,968th to 99 Farming 10/9/09 | Runescaper August 2005-March 2010Tip.it Mod Feb. 2008-Sep. 2008 | Tip.it Crew Sep. 2008-Nov. 2009
Swiller2
I'm from Delaware, and its been as cold at times here, but briefly! We got one good snow, about 16 inches, that was it. Other wise been weird, one day is below freezing, next day its 60? Cant imagine below freezing most of the year! Crazy!
Asmodeous4
In Jolly Old Britain it's been hell. Not the snow, but the freaking media coverage of it. We are NOT going to run out of gas, freeze and die. We DO have perfectly enough grit to deal with the snow. Stop making such a big deal out of it! But the snow has been nice and certainly the coldest winter in my 15 years on Earth. Hit me up on LastFM to see my music taste and chat :)
tripsis
It has definitely been very cold this year and I love it :) I don't know if it's the "coldest winter ever," but definitely colder than the past few years, and just more stormy than usual. I can't remember the last time the power went out here tbh D: (before this year). I wouldn't rather be somewhere warm at all ;) In fact, my whole family is going to Hawaii in February and I chose to pass. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Dax
Usual January weather down here in Australia. So, usual Summer weather. Lenin64
It's been pretty cold here, and we did have that one big snowstorm, but other than that there's been 0 snowfall, which sucks because damned near every day is snow-capable. But while it has been cold, it hasn't been super-de-duper cold, but I've got them there finger issues where they're a good inch bigger than everyone else's, and thinner, and thus have less circulation. fakeitormakeit2
I hate the cold so much. And where I live (NY Metropolitan area) I wouldn't say its the coldest winter, but its so friggin annoying. It keeps snowing but no school off, and then I'm late for school because it takes like an extra 2hrs because of the roads. In fact, that happened yesterday -.- He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked... Apparently it's an El Nino year. Definitely feels like it. Usually this time of winter we have a couple weeks of -30C to -40 C(-40F) weather, but up until this week we had like 2 or 3 weeks of it hovering around -10, which was nice. Right now it's only -25, but -36 with the wind. Oh well, just gotta dress in layers. I'm in Winnipeg though, so it's colder than most places
obfuscator
Winter here has been weird (Ontario, Canada) stayed above 0 (celcius) till mid december, dropped to -20 till early jan - mild thru mid jan, now its back down to -15 and looking to stay that way for a week or so. We haven't even had a half foot of snow the whole winter either, which is really little. dsavi
Here it's been hovering around -20℃ to -15℃ for the last while, has gotten down to -26.9℃ we have nearly three feet of snow. (-4℉ to 5℉, -16.42℉) Really unusual as we usually have mostly rain and slush until February, but it's been like this since mid December.
