9 Year old Boy busted for bringing 2-inch toy gun to school

So don't read the threads you don't think you'd be interested in?

OT: Absolutely ridiculous, but I don't even know what else to say really. The idiot principal overreacted, what more is there to say? I do find it interesting that the principal was a woman, and I'd like to know what would happen if it was a man. I mean, can any guy honestly say he never played with those green little plastic army men?

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

Dizzle - They're kind of hard to avoid when there are multiple shock news type threads on the front page. What discussion value does it have beyond "oh, this is so stupid, why did they do that?"

Anyone with their home page on Yahoo would've already seen this.

Anyway: I don't think that was a Lego.

... And to be honest, with the volume of stupid situations like this, I would find it far more interesting to debate the legitimacy of the Lego in question than the article itself.

It's quite simple.

Americans lacks common sense.

Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

Lego guns barely reach an inch long and are rounded so that the figure can hold it. That gun was slightly larger and not particularly round. It probably would have been difficult for the figure to hold it, mostly because the gun was probably bigger than it...

Oh right, the topic.

What risk is there in a 2 inch gun? If it was a larger squirt gun it would have made sense, but this, no.

Haven't you heard? The government is sending out spies all across the country with microscopic weapons to kill corrupt elementary school teachers with. The principal probably got word of the sneak attack and sent out teachers to scout the playgrounds for suspicious activity.

It's a conspiracy man!!! B)

Yea that definitely wasn't a LEGO gun, but still. "OH NOES LOOK OUTS FOR TEH LITTLE PLASTIC GUN GET DOWN GET DOOOOOWN!" I find it odd that the principle hasn't commented on it yet.

Yeah, the picture provided shows it's also far more detailed than normal Lego accessories. Or at least the ones I grew up with... I was actually hoping from this that they released Operation Iraqi Freedom Lego sets. Aww... :(

Also nice conspiracy theory...

That doesn't look like any piece of lego I've seen. It reminds me of those little green plastic soldiers I had with a kid, but anyway, I'm not sure there isn't more to this story than it lets on.

i remember when my dad prepared a steak for my lunch and put in a KNIFE in my bag LOL

Was there anything that needed to be done other than saying "Put that up and don't bring it anymore."?

Elementary school sure has changed in the last decade. I'm almost positive we played with that sort of stuff in class. I don't entirely see the point in punishing it since it won't deter someone who wants to bring a real gun to school since the probably don't care about suspension.

That being said, I think that objects that represent guns shouldn't be brought into school, but they should be taken away and given back at the end of the day or require having a parent pick them up. Suspending a nine year old kid isn't going to solve any problems. It's more likely to cause problems later on in my opinion.

[bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp

They try to hard to make situations like these seem bigger than they are.

"I'm never bringing a toy to school again," said Patrick, whose favorite subject is math

How is this even relevant?

They completely crushed any chance of fun from the outside he could have had because he fears being in trouble again. I bring my DS to school when I know we aren't going to do anything in class.

Haha.

My primary school had a rule where no-one was allowed to bring toy guns in, but they meant like cap-guns and air-rifles and such, not tiny guns for an action figure or something.

The world nowadays...

Sadly this doesn't surprise me in the least. You see there is this little thing that most people know, and that is that people in general are stupid.

If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.

We weren't allowed to draw guns when I was in elementary school. Yeah, the public schools here are messed up. (I remember the art teacher kicking a kid out for drawing one in fifth grade. Seriously?)

And I wonder how that principal would have reacted to this: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/22413748/detail.html

While I agree that this is ridiculous, at least in my school the rules state any look-a- likes also, and if this kid didn't get in trouble for this what if he brings in a bigger one? i realize it is all circumstantial and a stretch but people ARE stupid.

God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND

" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done."

That principal is being soft on the kids. They shouldn't be able to use shoe laces either, they are weapons in the hands of children, I tell you!!
