More worlds?

Featured Replies

Do you guys think there should be more worlds, seeing as atm everything is so incredibly crowded

I'm mostly talking about skilling/training spots like;

rock crabs

green dragons(/blues/blacks)

dagganoths

hill giants

bosses (kbd, gwd...)

bandits

flesh crawlers

a lot of slayer monsters, say bloodvelds

ankous

willows (f2p mostly)

maples

runite ores/magic trees (understandable since they're high level)

etc...

Overcrowded spots is a problem that you don't find in many other games, runescape generally has a low number of mobs spread over a lot of people with a slow respawn rate.

I just get tired over having to 'fight' to get mobs

We're playing with nearly with an average of 100,000 people over only 170 worlds, we should just have more worlds

What do you think tip.it?

Sure there will be more worlds, but right now I think it is fine. There are countless training spots these days to try which are not crowded. When the new skill comes out I expect there to be many more worlds made.

It's been a hell of a ride.

2002-2013

But a world takes 2,000 players

So an average of 100,000 players only fills 50 worlds.

Therefore jagex have given us over triple the neccessary worlds whihc is quite generous

The problem is that you can't just kill another boss when you are going Bandos. Skipping tasks because they are often crowded is not an option either.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

more worlds would be amazing. I hate crashing and being crashed at bosses. Just creates bad feeling all over the place.

But then you'll get stupidly barren worlds when it isn't peak time.

Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.

They could just increase the training spots on existing worlds, as they have been doing so far. See for instance kuradal's dungeon.

I would rather see more reliable worlds then a greater amount. They really need to put more dedication onto heavier traffic servers for worlds which house activities such as trading and pvp.

Typically when I train, I don't find any [severe] problems with overcrowding. For me, I go to a lot of different areas to train (Slayer does this to you), and the only time that it gets really overcrowded is when there's more than 4 people in the Temple of Light, killing Dark Beasts.

The Runite issue is a whole 'nother battle, and adding more of that stuff would probably cause a huge fallout from the higher level miners.

Someone also said it earlier, we have about three times the servers we need for all the resources (given a perfectly full world). Personally I can't see the issue with overcrowding all that much.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

The max needs to be that high but it can't really handle it that well. I've got a high end pc but I still lag at the ge in a world with only about 1400 people in.

and it's not that they don't have the money ;o

There's also the law of diminishing returns. Back in the day where there was about 30 worlds, adding 5 pretty much solved overcrowding completely, at least for a while. Adding another 5 now is equally expensive, but it won't change the overcrowding situation much.

equally expensive, but not as expensive for the company since they make a buttload more money

I think the solution to overcrowding is to add new monsters to fight

Kuradal's dungeon helped alot. And jagex already told us that they're adding a bunch of high level bosses and dungeons later this year.

I say just hold your horses, it sounds like overcrowding will fade away gradually over the course of this year

For slayer, there are usually a few alternative spots to train in (although as a mid level, I can't speak for dark beasts etc. nor crowding at bosses). The alternative spots may not be so convenient in terms of banking and will probably require a quest to get to, but they will be empty. I can think of several new spots added in the last year or so, and we have been promised more dungeons this year. I am content to have to make another trade-off decision as to whether I'll waste more time world-hopping and looking for something that isn't being cannoned or getting back to a bank.

I wonder whether our slayer masters can sense the crowding at spots and assign tasks accordingly? Guess it would be too complicated given that some of us ignore/ put off tasks we don't like....

Yeah in addition to my point before I agree with the alternate spots etc.

Eg Fire Giants in Brimhaven are rarely used at all

Dark Beasts now have Kuradals dungeon too.

Red Chins while the spot by the map edge (well now its not the map edge its like boravs and stuff) and the one by the lake r the best theres like 3 other spots

etc etc

well too be fair fire giants in brimhaven also have wild dogs. a major pain.

But when i go to kill fire giants or another crowded task not that many people look ahead for convenience.

A few rooms back from the normal fire giant rooms are two more.

I'd rather much see more worlds improved.

I'd rather have more mosters to kill and more places to kill them than more worlds.

In a topic like this i have to quote Jagex official stance to this matter, or at least as far as i can remember (someone has it quoted on his sig)

In an online game where thousand compete towards the same goal, either get better or get out

Not the exact words.

My point is: There are enough worlds, either you get higher levels so you can excel or you hop worlds until you find one empty.

To be even more fair, the wild dogs are no problem once you hit 127 :P You also have two great spots to kill fire giants in the chaos tunnels. Nearly always empty as well. Heck, there's a lot of great places for a few slayer tasks in the chaos tunnels which are rarely used. If you have good defence, or are able to heal enough, fire giants become more of a 'sit back and read the forums' sort of task in the tunnels, too. The only rooms which tend to have people are the gargoyles (probably cause you don't have to use any portals), dust devils and black demons. All of which are along the way to bork. I'm sure people are simply more comfortable using those portals, which would explain why so many other great rooms are empty.

High-alching that REALLY expensive item in my inventory looks more and more tempting with every beer I drink.

It doesn't matter if you excel or not, you don't need to be a high level to get a mob. It's just that when there's too many players in one spot it tends to be very frustrating (for me that is).

World hopping is just tedious

2d0f03c.png

As someone already said in this thread, I would rather just have more places for all that stuff. Instead of having more worlds that is.

World hopping is kind of a pain.

Best solution: abolish the 30 second rule for world hopping they imposed a couple years ago?

It's been a hell of a ride.

agree

Can't remember why they even put it in atm

Wouldn't that make it almost impossible for some people to do things such as runite mining? I mean, it is very difficult to get a rock in the first place, but when you have a lot of people being able to switch worlds in basically just a few seconds...the competition would become far too much I think.

That's just one example. I know that world hopping is a pain, but I think Jagex probably knows what they are doing.
