March 3, 201016 yr The system update for today's release will be slightly different from the usual format. The game worlds will still display the system update timer with a 10-minute warning as normal; however, after the 10-minute countdown, all game worlds will be temporarily shut down rather than rebooted, to allow us to make some necessary changes. These changes will require around 15 minutes, after which we can restart the game worlds and you will be able to log in once more. We have done everything to ensure this downtime is as short as possible, but, if this takes much longer than expected, we'll keep you informed and make every effort to bring the game worlds back online as quickly as possible. I think it's Clan Chat upgrades amongst other things but it may require changes to the core of the game to handle the data or something? I could be right or I could be horribly wrong (wouldn't surprise me) but people shouldn't get their hopes up too much. I'm personally looking forward to what today brings!

March 3, 201016 yr At first I thought - "Ooo, this could be big!", then I realised we really shouldn't read into this much. It could really mean anything when you consider the technical possibilities that could warrant a reboot. Still, am interested in seeing what it is - and also, glad it's update day! :)
March 3, 201016 yr For everyone that still thinks this will be the new skill: every time jagex says something is not coming out they have held true to their word. They have never said something would not come out and then were like "GOT YA!" :P Im thinking the same as Jon Arcane (some posts above), seeing it requires some updates/setting changes to the servers it can be anywhere from graphics changes, to the way stats and information gets uploaded from and to servers, to changes to chat systems (as they are processed via different servers than the game (iirc). But it could as well be a preparation for a future update where we wont see anything different today, we'll know in about 2-3 hours :)
