Clubbing

Nightclubs are a place to hang out, dance, hook up and drink alcohol. I plan on going to my first one next weekend and was wondering about some of your experiences?

Have you ever been to a nightclub? Did you enjoy it? What did you do? GO.

I snuck into a strip club when I was 16. That is just about it. As for what I did, I passed out and awoke in my bed with different clothes. I still have no clue what happened and my uncle laughs at me when I ask.

You know what, it sounds funny until you think about it happening to you.

Dance or you'll have a pretty boring time. Don't bring your beer glass to the dance floor though, because you will spill beer on people. Bring a bottle instead.

General advice is to: Don't drink too much, don't start fights and behave.

But i don't know what experiences you wanna know? I've been out probably too many times for my brain-cells likening. Just be in a good mood and you won't have a pissy night.

Also, if neither of your friends know where the toilet is, ask the bartender so you don't run around the club at 02.00 half drunk and in need of some relief. Not too fun to stand in long queues.

So far the one's I've been to suck. One here (Known as Fannys) is a total Cess Pool of which everything and anything is on the floor, walls, bar etc. I usually sit back and drink because Dancing sucks, I cant dance and haven't even met a women yet because as soon as you walk towards one 5 more guys run at her in competition. <_<

I generally have a fun time. If your scared, don't be, get a few drinks in you and just have fun! Don't be afraid to try new things. ;)

Thanks but I'm actually pretty excited to go :-P. I mostly wanted to see people's opinions on them.

I went to Montreal for my March Break, so we went clubbing on three of the four nights. I personally just like going to clubs to dance with my friends; I'm not the type of guy who wants to go up to a girl I don't even know, grab her waist, and start grinding with her. I'm also not a drinker, so dancing is my only option. Don't get me wrong though, I have a great time dancing with my friends to the music. I suggest sticking with your group of friends until you're comfortable enough to roam the floor and converse with other groups of people. And don't be afraid to dance just because you can't; I've come to find that the only people who look like fools are the people not dancing, so go crazy and have fun :D

You just dance and drink...?

That's what you do at clubs.

I've been to plenty, and it all depends on what type of club and what music they play. I often end up spending a lot of time in the smoking areas outside just talking to people as i am not exactly a great dancer.

There aren't many good clubs here. I think there's only really two that would qualify as clubs, but all the bars have cute little dance floors. The clubs here are disgusting, actually - the two I was talking about, I've been to, and odds are you'll be getting in a fight if you go there or one of the numerous sports bars.

Here, let me think ... I know one gay bar, like four awesome bars that everyone goes to for actual good times, the two clubs, there are a few strip clubs just out of town, and then the rest of the bars are really just sports bars. It's a southern college town, what did you expect ...

But, if you go with a small, tight group, and are open to making lots of new friends, clubs are fun, even the nasty ones here with [cabbage]ty music. Just have to be open. Bars are fun in a different way. You're much less likely to meet lots of people in a bar than a club, and usually people are closed off with their groups. In my experience, anyway. The piano bar here is so tiny everyone ends up cool with each other. I'm a pretty awful dancer, seeing as I'm taking ballroom dancing classes and that's sort of ... ah, whatever. Just move with the beat.

I don't think I can even go in one yet (that's if I wanted to), and I'm 18... There are lameass laws where you have to be 21 to even enter a bar...

There's a nice Irish pub in a nice cultural area not too far away that I think might be a nice place to eat, but I will almost certainly have to be 21 to enter the goddamned place thanks to idiots like Carrie Nation and some other [kitties] that we had during the 19th century prohibitionist movement...

EDIT: I actually am not sure if all pubs have the 21+ rule. I just remember going to one and then being kicked out because I wasn't 21.

Here if you're in before ten and aren't really drinking, or get in good with the staff, nobody cares. Luckily my brother's kind of a regular at a bunch of the best places in town, so I've become generally accepted there. It helps that I look a whole lot older than fifteen, and usually am there with an older crowd as well.

Although I don't think they kick you out if you're eighteen, either.

Depends on the area too, like if your going around to the bars and clubs around where I live they are pretty extreme about checking IDs and that mostly has to do with it being near a college but some places sorta off the grid will let younger kids in as long as they aren't buying drinks. Also a lot of clubs do 18+ nights too.

Yeah, the two clubs are really popular with the douchebag college crowd here - all the rich kids from Dallas, Houston, whatever go there to drink and fight. They'll check IDs on weekends like guys in polo shirts and cowboy boots check out girls wearing ... well, the same thing.

Not a club man at all myself. My enjoyment and ensnaring of women relies on being able to have a half decent conversation (or at least for people to hear what I'm saying). I'd stick with a pub anyday - The drinks are better and they're much easier to get.

I go pretty often, every two or three weeks. It's pretty cool here cos I live in a Uni town with 120,000 people, at least 20,000 stuedents so you get pretty cool young crowds. I don't wana sound liek a total [bleep], but I've never been to one sober, the less sober you are generally the better you enjoy it.

I don't know what it's like overseas, but here drinks in town are realyl expensive, so normally you just go to a party, drink til midnight, then go into town (where the clubs are). Sometimes it can be heard/awkward trying to dance with randoms, so I normally only dance with people I know or kinda know. I guess its a bit different, cos I'm from a smallish place, so I'll pretty much see someone I know at some point during the night.

Next month I'm turning 18 (legal drinking age here) and already have had a number of people say they want to take me out drinking. Should get a good perspective on some different places this way.

Been to a fair few, usually go to a bar or a pub before hand to get liquored up. Student nights during the week (here at least) are definately the best. Entry and drinks are normally cheaper and it's filled with students and theres sometimes a theme of some sort, the other week everyone that turned up with a moustache (real or fake  ) got in for half price. Quite unreal seeing all these moustached people dancing about. When i'm back home, we usually go out friday or saturday nights which is usually more expensive, theres a lot more arseholes in the clubs on these days as well.
