Adley
Hi, Have you ever worked on on a 99, your existed or proud that your close to it, then you likely have a small party, then get the skillcape? I have. However, whenever I get a 99, I also get the " 99 Blues" As I call it. I work for months on a certain skill, reaching it to level 99, I get 99, but now what?. Anyways, My question. How do I not get the "99 Blues"?. Also, please dont suggest getting the skill to 200m xp.

Obtaurian
Maybe you should stop getting 99s for the sake of having 99s. I just got my first 99 and I'm 135 combat. I got it while training slayer, which is my favorite skill. What do you enjoy in Runescape? To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
Cptbaker08
Ever heard of the expression "Its not the destination, but the journey", or something along the lines of that? Well that's what it is for a 99 you enjoy. When i was working on 99 slayer i was so excited since i loved to slay. I was still pleased when i got the cape, it was just i got bored since i reached my goal. If you enjoy that skill so much, why not continue to work on it? One of the few ways i know to not get the "99 blues" is to have another goal set up to work on after you got that one skill to 99. Edit: You can also use your new 99 while training dungeoneering. Albel
One thing I did was while working on a 99, I though of others to do once I got it. For example, my first 99 was firemaking. After I got that I worked on combat and getting strong enough to do barrows. After woodcutting, I worked on getting other skills to 50+ 60+ ect... One thing though, don't worry to much about getting a 99. If you feel as though you are wasting time, stop doing it and do something else. Some may look at me and say "He got 99 cooking because it's easy and he's a noob" or something closely resembling those. The fact of the matter is, Cooking's actually my favorite skill in the game, and I got it because I enjoyed cooking. Now I'm level 112 (I was 111, but Dungeoneering pushed me past it...I liked being level 111, still not high, but its not that low) with only cooking maxed, and no other stats even close. The thing to get out of this rant, don't get a 99 because others might judge you on it, or you just want the 99, get it because you enjoy it. What's the point of going for 99 if you don't enjoy it? Hedgehog
When I was going for 99 mining, I was so afraid that I would feel disappointed when I got the cape that I had worked for for so long. I couldn't shake the feeling that it wouldn't feel how I always expected it to feel. One day, I decided that I was going to force myself to enjoy every step of the journey, so if my fears had proven correct, I would still be able to look at my stats page and smile. Three years after the start of the journey, I finally reached 99, and I was; luckily, not consumed by the 99 blues; which made the achievement all the sweeter. This led me to believe that you can beat the blues if you focus on the journey, and revel in it. Don't let the thoughts of the destination distract you; do it for the fun. Rhonda
I get the 99 blues after every cape, even the skills I love. I don't see this feeling as too much emphasis on getting a cape or not playing for fun, like others have said. It's that down feeling of having completed a goal with nothing else to do. Yeah, I could try maxing the skill, but I don't care about doing that. I tend to look ahead to see what else I could work on, or do something like star chasing or kill and evil tree. spooferfish
The only 99 blues I got are becuase I'm maxed combat, but I never seem to be doing any slayer tasks that I can range.. Range just seems to weak...I don't need att/str/def xp anymore.. But Range is just so slow..
L0rdAki
Fork out and cannon with maxed gear and obby rings/karil's xbow. Yeah. I have the "rs blues" at the moment. I'm too low levelled to get much cash, not enough cash to powerlevel, and am too fail to get any 99's. So yeah. Just hunt monsters with friends if you're bored. You'll lose cash if you're not pro, but you'll have fuuuuuun. Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff. MstrMonopoly
I got 99 cooking in order to win a skills competition in my clan - I gained about 9M experience in cooking alone in the week double clicking sharks/rocktail. And when it was over I was sooo happy that I wouldn't have to do it ever again. Anyway, I would probably advise you to listen to Miley Cyrus "It's not about how fast you get there (noob, yes it is, always use Grimy's spreadsheets), it's not about what's waiting on the other side (extreme pots ftw)" It's the climb. Bladewing
Train skills you like, and pay no attention to capes or what people think about skills. If you love magic, go train it; if you love runecrafting, go train it. I like combats and I continue to train them past 99. I also plan to get more herblore xp whenever I can afford it :-\. aspeeder
Like others have said, it's the journey and not the destination, and for me that also translates into training without being super efficient because it lets me smell the roses and lowers the stress of it all. For instance, I love slaying and slaying is all I do, and I know the best way is prossy plate and verac's skirt praying piety with cannon and turmoil, yadda, yadda, yadda, but I don't slay that way because that's just not the way I like to slay. I enjoy just going to a task in normal armour and a yip summoned, whacking away at things whilst watching movies or browsing forums or talking with friends; I can't imagine powertraining slayer because it just doesn't sound appealing. Look at the way you're training it and, like hedgehog said, make every step enjoyable (Except gargoyle tasks, those can suck it <_< ). http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots

12pure34
I have 1937 total and I've gotten my first level 90 today! Yes level 90! That means it isn't even halfway.. I've been playing for about 6 years now or so? :P 99's are overrated. Just enjoy what you do. Set different goals. Like getting this item. Doing this. Having fun here. Having a life there. ;) I try not to play to much. Just loggin out half way just for the sake of logging out is a great start. Just browse the forums for 5 minutes or take a drink. Hameigh
I always set a ton of goals when I reach 98 in a skill. Then I rush to get 99 so I can start working on the new exciting goals. So set other goals when you reach 98, make sure they are fairly short though.
