Will H
I hope it defies the rule of "if the first sequel is good then the second will probably suck". I mean, take a look at The Godfather, The Matrix, and the Spiderman Trilogy. Ah, but this is Pixar. They have a habit of making ridiculously good sequels. It's a very strange thought that what should be regarded as a kid's movie is probably going to be mostly watched by people who are young adults. I'm 17 now, and 'heading to college'. Basically, my life has been simultaneous with Andy's and it's a very humbling thought that I myself will have to donate or throw away my own childhood toys when I move out. If this is as good as it promises to be, it would be for me the greatest movie trilogy of all time. ~ W ~
Shazarabbit
I have many hopes for this movie. It's only natural that they changed the scenario, I mean they have the same cast (even the same Andy), but they wouldn't be able to keep Andy as a child. I love Toy Story, but I'm afraid to it will be like most other Disney sequels. :( Proud Tip.It Moderator December 07 - October 2009Proud TETAU Member 2006 - 2007 <3"I had a standing agreement with god. I love Toy Story, but I'm afraid to it will be like most other Disney sequels. :( The whole disney cheapquel thing was stopped thanks to Steve Jobs back in 07' (yeah, was a pretty awesome year indeed). The Walt Disney Co. will no longer produce direct-to-video sequels of its animated features, according to Disney watcher Jim Hill. Hill, who has had a hit-and-miss record in reporting on inside decisions at the company, said that Sharon Morrill, president of DisneyToon Studios, has been forced to step down as part of the decision to shut down the group that produces the DVD sequels. Prior to Disney's acquisition of Pixar, Pixar executives Steve Jobs and John Lasseter had publicly complained about the quality of the sequels, maintaining that they undercut the value of the original features. Disney executives had responded that the sequels had proved to be enormously successful for the studio. According to Hill, Lasseter made the decision to halt further production of the DVD sequels and fire Morrill after viewing a "work-in-progress version" of The Tinkerbell Movie, which Hill described as "an awful mess." Hill said that Lasseter complained to Disney chief Robert Iger that the movie was "virtually unwatchable." As a direct result of that meeting, Hill wrote, "some $30 million worth of animation had to be scrapped." http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/disney-to-halt-dvd-sequels_1034895

It just seems to me they're taking Toy Story too far.

I'm not going to hate because Toy Story is my favorite Pixar movie of all time but all three Toy Story movies follow the same general plot. Thinking about it they've also aged Andy correctly from the first film to this new one. :P

Skull
I'm so pumped to see this. June 18th is my last day of school plus I have to go to a graduation so I probably won't be able to see it the day it comes out, but hopefully I'll get to see it before I go camping a week after that. It was such a huge delight to be at Pixar Animation Studios. There was a reception in the lobby area and then they took us on a tour through their gallery where they had concept art, sculptures, storyboards, etc. of a bunch of their movies. Plus we got to peak into a few offices  As for the movie itself, I really enjoyed it. It felt like it had a little bit of a different "vibe" than the first two, but it was hilarious and very enjoyable. [hide=Photos]This photo was taken when we left.. I didn't get a chance to take one while we were entering (which is why it's dark out). The famous lamp in front of the studio. Inside the studio (lobby). That big "house" in the middle is Ken's Dream House. And some of me: Made out of legos! And of course, you can't expect me to go to the Pixar Animation Studio and not come home with loot. I got a sweatshirt, two t-shirts, three posters (all the same but me, my mom and my dad all got one but they gave theirs to me) and a Pixar iPhone cover.[/hide] - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

I don't know how to best explain it.. but imo it was the structure of the film, plot, etc. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Denith
Just saw the film today, loved it :D Sweet pics :D Different vibe? Must be the animation. No it wasn't the animation. I don't know how to best explain it.. but imo it was the structure of the film, plot, etc. I think it was the tone and the humor. A bit nihilistic and absurd/irrelevent. If Lotso was the protagonist of the film it would have been a H. P. Lovecraft story.
magekillr
Just got back from this, and I can't recommend it enough. I'll admit, I'm a crier at a lot of movies; I get attached to people very easily, what can I say? I didn't cry during this one, but I definitely had lumps in my throat at the end of the movie. Better than the second one, not better than the first; all three were amazing, so meh, w/e. I saw the first one when I was 7 years old, and I'm now 21 turning 22 in August. It's strange following the same life as the kid on screen. Spoilers (maybe?): [hide]When I left for college, my mom had the same reaction as Andy's mom. We just both sat there, stared at my empty room for a good 2 minutes in silence, and then she looked over and said, "Oh, Justin..." and cried lol. They really got that down well. Good job, Pixar.[/hide]

Plugpoint
Annoyed that the UK have to wait til mid-July for this, I keep seeing links to watch it online and I'm like 'must... resist...' heh. Can't wait to see it having waited 11 years for this. Triquos
Not fussed on toy story 3 to be frank, and the 4th shrek movie just looks like an attempt to keep a story going when it could have easily (and graciously) ended on the 3rd, and even then the artie storyline was a bit strange. I reckon monsters inc deserves a trilogy, the fluffy blue guy is my favourite XD One movie I'm looking forward to though is harry potter and the deathly hallows :) the trailer doesn't really do it justice but maybe they just chose the wrong parts lol. Two good movies I've seen so far though and can recommend are: The Blindside, really cool motto and storyline - and sandra bullock is really funny in this movie XD I'd rate 9/10. I don't know why it's not as popular as some of the other movies, though I guess life lesson sort of movies aren't as popular as animated movies etc. I dunno. Prince of Persia I'd rate 8/10 - great storyline, you certainly can't predict what's to come in this movie. The only part that let it down were some of the minor characters who sometimes felt to me like they were saying something sarcastic to someone or like they were being watched as to what was being said, but it was just a case of bad acting - though it doesn't ruin the movie. The graphics are epic and the princess does a great job of the -get me outta here- role.
