I saw a topic on RSOF about Jagex closing down botsites, so I did a google search and they seems to be right. Rsbot.org, one of the biggest bot site is shutdown. I took a screenshot

That is strange, why would they post a page like that when moving?

It was forced to change website names,because it contained "rs" in the site name.

if only they could actually punish botters, because just banning em for 21 days, or even permanently probably wouldn't cut it ,.,

No, .net is a different bot, that's the paid one. This is still .org

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a ploy to downsize what they were doing in order to keep Jagex guessing? Who knows, but it's funny as hell that they posted that page.

I would lie if I didn't think this was good news. I just hope a more permanent solution can be implemented. Permaban and credit card "ban" would solve the bot problem, but it might be too costly for Jagex seeing as many vheaters would simply stop playing.

They could only shut it down because the website name is similar to Runescape, and the content supposedly encouraged browsers to go to other games in direct competition with Runescape, lol.

Eh, it was bound to happen eventually. Jagex is moving in the right direction with actions like this, though. :thumbup:

It always happens, they'll never shut down for good.

You can never stop botting, just like you can never stop the drug trade. The harder you suppress it, the more profitable it becomes to make up for the risk.

Hopefully in short long term it will impact those pesky hunter bots each week when I have to get my strange rocks.

 

Couple weeks back one glitched up and kept following my traps as I was hunting. It couldnt hunt itself. Bloody annoying having it follow me whole time... <_<

 

As for a larger impact on the game this can only be a great thing. :thumbup: Probably take a few weeks for botters to actually be effected. Plus those sites will just start elsewhere as usual pretty quick.. but it should impact game somewhat positively..

 

..If anything its a good laugh to see their site down anyway.. Most people who leach bots are too thick to find the new site or understand how to click a link for a couple of days and gives those who are intelligent a headache dealing with those people.

So they remove one site, and then it's back on another domain, don't know why everyone thinks they're making progress.

But at least with every attack Jagex throws at them less and less people seem to be using bots. Remember in 2006 when there were so many yew bots (you couldn't find a single yew tree in runescape with less than 10 bots), yew logs dropped to around 120gp? Nowadays their numbers seem to have lessened (although there are quite a few).

There were so many bots because RWT was a lot simpler for large companies, it was not so much individual users abusing them. Now that profit from RWT has dwindled, large companies no longer need 400 bots all chopping yews such. :P
