Dunno, don't care to be honest

When it gets released there will still be people raging because it's underpowered/overpowered/pures can't get it/it costs too much/the quest is too easy/hard, etc etc.

jagex made a comment along the lines of "what do ninja monkeys carry in their pockets?"

and the immediate reaction of everybody was "dragon defenders!"

(that and dragon throwing knives)

 

this coupled with the fact that we are getting a monkey quest along the end of this month and we have that rumorr.

It will either be released this year or before summer next year from my guess.

The only thing that would qualify this topic for Questionnaires is the lack of an argument in the topic body, but since discussion is already rolling and expanding past just the aspect of the defender and (ideally) would continue to do so it really doesn't belong there.

Gah, I hate that rumor. It really is delving too far into it. I can't imagine this being more than just a thieving update alongside this quest. Monkeys don't fight with defenders--at least the monkeys we've seen. And since this quest is featuring monkeys based off the community we've already witnessed, I doubt that would change. Just because the previous quests from this vein of lore rewarded us with the Dragon Scimitar doesn't mean every quest thereafter will be a part of the dragon defender. In any case, I'm buying my DFS now before they release this quest, just to laugh when it goes back up...

It seems a little soon after the Twitter hint (which said they still weren't sure how they're going to release it) for it to be coming out, but it would be fitting. I certainly wouldn't mind it coming from the same quest series that gave us the dragon scimitar, it seems very fitting.

 

It would also be awesome if it was a rare high level pickpocketing drop that requires a little more than your usual right click-pickpocket. And if it were then tradeable. Could be a "boss" for something other than combat for once, which is something I've been advocating for a long time.

 

@above: Lol, DFS is going to continue going down regardless. We know a defender is coming out in the next ~5 months, and we know that the DFS is crap for most applications anyway. It has no reason to go back up more than maybe 500k before continuing to plummet.

No silvia, its just a guess. For all we know it could be a banana that they carry in their pockets, or a new type of greegree that works anywhere in RS, or anything. But it could, with could being the optimal word.

Quests never give dragon equipment directly (the only exception being the 1/3 of a dragon platebody from WGS). I would be very surprised if the Dragon Defender was released from a quest - at the most, I would expect it to be a drop from a monster unlocked through a quest.

It probably will be a quest. I just hope it's not a quest with crazy high requirements... Cause I really want a dragon defender. :shades:

I hope its exclusive, or more so then a lot of things.

Obviously ninja monkeys carry dragon boomerangs in their pockets. They just yank them out when in danger, and hurl them at their opponents. The boomerangs do over 9000 damage to multiple targets sequentially, ensuring that they almost all die at different times. :thumbup: for sweet weapons.

 

 

 

OT:

I really doubt the Dragon Defender will come out with the quest. I want it to be some sort of cyclops boss that you still need tokens to fight. Maybe single combat or something, and instanced, but with regular cyclopes drops besides the dragon defender so that people don't camp there to earn money, they just get some defenders to use elsewhere.

I hope its exclusive, or more so then a lot of things.

 

I'd have to agree. A potential dragon defender would be overpowered and should come with a bunch of requirements.

Heck, I almost hope I Can't get it. Give me another goal to aim for.

It will definitely be untradeable just like the rest of the defenders thats an obvious one. I don't care when its released as long as its a tank friendly quest if released with a quest.

defender is comfirmed, but in the same way as dragon plate boddy. we all knew it was going to be relised sometime but no one on the planet had a clue when.

Nah, platebody was confirmed in a "yeah I mean some time there'll be one" kind of way; dragon defender they flat out stated that it was already in production.

 

And there's no way it'll come out too late to be useful unless they release some even better offensive off-hand item first. Right now the rune defender is untouchable as the go-to offhand item for 90% of melee combat since myriad healing methods have made defense meaningless; an improvement upon the rune defender is guaranteed to be extremely useful.

Dragon boots are a slayer drop.

 

A pickpocketed dragon item, though, hasn't ever been done.
