Easy way for New Players to make GP

Featured Replies

Quite by accident I found a way for newer players to make a lot of GP in a short amount of time.

All one has to do is hang out around the grand exchange, and collect all the ashes that are left behind from folks burning logs. Currently they sell for over 50 gp each, and there are tons of them.

Maybe send this tip to an editorial staff member as a "Did you know..." and it could appear at the end of a week's articles with your name attached to it  .Otherwise, this doesn't really belong here.

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Blogs are dead

Conversely, you could go to lumbridge and ask the Duke for antidragonfire sheilds that sell for 441 gp and bank them, and then sell them on the GE for huge profits.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

That would require questing though. With the aversion many players seem to have to quests, and the fact that the quest of this topic requires numerous other quests be completed first to give a sizable amount of quest points (nearly all of them if the newb in question is f2p, which they ought to be if they're poor enough to be satisfied collecting ashes rather than splitting granite or picking flax...) Basically nobody that would consider getting ~12-13k of shields over the span of 5 minutes of dialogue spam-clicking to be worthwhile moneymaking actually meets the qualifications. That being said though, many people prefer getting 15k fishing xp an hour totally afk over paying attention to the game and getting maybe 70-90k xp instead, so I could definitely see where somebody might be just the right level of newb to benefit from your suggestion.

I'd still say killing cows for cowhides and chickens for feather and then selling them on GE would bring in quite a lot...

You could make more money killing level 2 men.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. NICE TIP.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

They should just do all of the lumbridge tasks they can. You get way too much coin for that. Nice easy way for a new player to have a few hundred K

just use your skills. it will help in the long run.

Now to discuss this.. Is this a new trend? That people tend to waste their money? Is this because of the upcoming free trade? Should we be the saint and pick it up, then passing it on to it's rightful owner? Or should we go opposite and let the human instinct of greed take over? Maybe someone should do some calculations and see whether it is efficient or not - should this test to be really efficient, will the prices of ashes sky rocket? Will this cause rares to drop? There are so many unanswered questions.. We can only guess.

I see what you're doing here.

Anyone can use a bronze hatchet and can cut normal logs. You can make more money selling those, honestly.

But it's a- er, decent alternative, I guess?

You can obtain an anti fire shield without questing, iirc.

You can just stand around edgeville and pick up trout and salmon. They're good for general purpose food in f2p, and training. Plus, all the food is in a pile.

I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks!

When I first started I would steal the Wines of Zamorak found at the temple north-west of the Goblin Village. You can either telegrab it, if you have 33 Magic, or you can just pick them up if you use protect from magic, rapid heal and rapid restore (37 prayer). You're right next to an altar so it's easy to recharge your prayer points.

I think the Wines are worth about 1.8k now, also it's best to do this on a busy world so the wines respawn faster.
