It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

If you are using supercompost & magic secateurs, you're unlucky. If you don't, you need to get them (you may still be unlucky).

You aren't using supercompost or magic secateurs. The minimum herb yield is 3. With both of those factors, it is 5. Get them. Use them. You won't regret it.

Great part: Supercompost helps prevent disease as well.

Supercompost reduces the chance of disease by 30%. By far enough that I need not check in on them if they are diseased.

Doing all 5 patches with snapdragons, magic clippers, and super compost is always going to profit you. Even more if you use scroll of life.

Sounds normal to me.

3 is the minimum with both those things.

Although, over 5 patches I can usually score at least 20 herbs.

3 is the minimum without boosts, with compost and secateurs, it's 5. If Golv meant to say it isn't, he's wrong.

It should also be noted that herb yields/deaths are not affected by your farming level as your OP seems to imply; just use supercompost/magic secs and get scroll of life/juju farming pots asap and you'll do fine.

There's actually some doubt about that. When the objectives system was still around, you could set your farming level to any level that didn't give immediate rewards (like level 83 = spirit tree, etc.). It would tell you that higher farming levels either got better harvests or less deaths. (I forget which of the two it is.)

Of course, that doesn't at all mean it's correct, by any means. But in my mind, it certainly does cast a little doubt. I do feel like on the road to 99 farming, my yields have steadily gotten better, but of course that's horribly un-scientific, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm pretty sure there would've been data confirming or denying by now, and all the responses to this question on these forums seems to be that level doesn't affect yield...that said why can't JaGeX employees confirm things with others before writing guides/text ingame :wall: .

If you start the harvest and get one herb it doesn't matter if you equip the secatures later, over 1000 seeds farmed before I got my scroll of life and jujus and I've never had less than 5 except when I forgot super compost or to have my secatures equipped from the very first pick.

i did 50-90 farming 90% by herbs, and i can confirm, you can't get less than 5 with supercompost and magic secateurs, no matter what seed you are planting/what farming lvl you got. About the farming lvl affecting, i did some research with player's farming logs, and i had alot of troubles finding any significant relation between the lvl and the amount of dead seeds/ herbs per seeds rate. At most, i found out that (once again, this could be simply a coincidence) that some seeds generally yield a bigger harvest than others, problem is that the example i took showed 5k snaps vs 200 kwuarms, so that's why i think it doesn't prove anything :???:

using all farming aids...maybe just a run of bad luck..reported as a "bug" to Jagex has been a consistent prob for about a month...maybe they do listen because the next day...whoopee!! 9 units...same seed type, same prep, growth times back to "normal" rather than up to 140 mins..go the bug reports!!

Logging in or logging in from the lobby slows the growth of all your farming patches. Maybe you were doing that a lot?
