Expensive skills becoming cheaper?

Featured Replies

I've noticed the supplies in order to train expensive skills such as Herblore and Prayer and gradually decreasing everyday since the end of March which obviously means the demand has suddenly decreased. Perhaps the previous Bonus Xp Weekend has had an impact on the costs. Do you think the costs of supplies will continue to decrease or increase in the next few days?

Welcome to summer.

Decrease because of all the bots.

Cheaper relative to what? Speaking from a F2P perspective, when the price of all moneymakers crash, and the price of bones slightly decreases, the relative price of prayer becomes more not less.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

Bots bro. Black demons = new green dragons. Also rare drops table probably helped herblore, as it brought a bunch more herbs into the game. But yes, bots are the cause of this.

How has herblore become cheaper? The price of pots also went down, the gp/xp is pretty much the same. And 6k for d bones is pretty high for pray.

Cheaper? relative to bxw, yes, but if you looked at grimys sheets(oh, you can't...) you'd see that the gp/xp figures are still nearly the same so no, they haven't and i doubt they will- most of the cheapness comes from gp being easier to accumulate.

Well 85-95 prayer is costing me 122m, and I'm pretty sure like a month ago it was going to be almost 140m. Seems cheaper to me, but I could be wrong on my numbers (the month ago one, I know its 122m right now cause I just bought it lol).

Edit: Maybe it was two months ago, back in February....

I suppose we make less gp per hour 3 years ago, but I am not sure we make 3 time less back in 09. Might be related to the supply of money from pvp, but we need more figures and proofs to say stuff are now cheaper in gerneral.

Dragon bones are around 4.5k in Jan,11 and start booming shortly after Jan (could be related to turmoil prayers in the deserts). However it is true that the trend seems to be going down (maybe something to do with nuclear in eastern lands).

No, not compared to that graph, compared to 2 months ago, like I stated in my post.

It could be a lot of factors and we are never going to resolve an answer. Simply not enough data. A lot of people here would love to say it's bots, as if they got a treat every time they say the word, but it's a lot more than that.

To add to this: at some point there was bound to be "turn" in prices:

When the extreme potions were released there was an enormous amount of "backlog" of people who had high combat skills and cash, however never bothered to train the unprofitable skill "herblore". Suddenly that was a very worthwihile investment, and all those people would train.

This caused a massive increase in price, however as not everyone could do it at once (and there was a huge amount of players who want it - every day coming more and more) it won't act as a spike, but instead after some period of rising fastly it will slowly fall back as it "catches up" to the player base.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

There are a few causes to the price drop in herbs and bones.

1) Bonus xp weekend ended not too long ago.

2) Hundreds upon hundreds of bots at Sorcerers Garden is driving herb prices down.

3) Hundreds upon hundreds of bots at Green dragons are driving bone prices down.

So yeah, blame the bots.

This, but even big bones and accursed ashes have slightly dropped.

As for the other moneymakers yeah, since free trade most methods I know have massively crashed, the only exception being GOP water talismans, for some reason. :???:

Recently due to the fact of p ess bot bans ess went up from 87 to where i had to pay nearly 140 each.

On another note though i was paying 3gp per xp doing addy plates so smithing is cheaper but yeah overal everything will most likely keep going down since more time spent on runescape by players=more items put into game which=cheaper prices.
