I actually wanted to try something too even knowing I wouldn't stand a chance.

And when I see all these really awesome entries I truly realize that that would be impossible. :razz:

 

Here's what I got to so far though. Couldn't be bothered anymore to make ground textures/background thingies.

I knew there was some talent hiding around these forums :) Im super excited to see what else is entered :thumbsup: Remember even if you dont think youll win against these new entries still try your best and enter it in! You cant get better if you give up as soon as somebody else with more experience steps in.

I never really got into it if I'm honest, only did about two small pieces that were very poor.

Alright I added all the entries so far to the first post! I also extended the deadline to make it a solid month from the making of this thread (was given the advice to do so by another judge and I think its a good idea)

 

 

Im really glad so many people are participating in this contest :) Its really great to see more people around the gallery.

Well, I'm no artist, and this is my very first pixel art. Ever. So, how did I do?

 

Is it an overhead "birds eye view"? If so, I think the rocks were copied and colored over from rs too.

 

Youve got the right idea for lava flow and everything but id suggest doing a different perspective. Maybe have it from the ground view or even just eye level.

Vrogren, stick to the pencil tool when drawing pixels (like on the "floor" with the orange lava lines going through, that's pixelling) even if you think it may look blocky cause that's what authenticates a pixel.

 

The idea of a pixel is adding every pixel yourself... so that brush you used for the gold rocks (the yellow lines specifically) added extra pixels on the edge making it not a pixel.

Well I was going to do a piece for this contest, but I ran out of time due to RL things. Anyway, here's the work in progress. I'll probably finish it over the summer.

 

I haven't done a pixel in such a long time! I think my last one was in 2008 or something, holy cow. I decided to draw this up. I spent so much time on the character that I forgot about the background, so that's why it looks so terrible. Also please excuse my low post count, I just really wanted in on this contest.

 

 

 

 

I obviously need some more practice so expect some more pixels coming from me in the future. I forgot how much fun pixelling was!
