TheRealist
Same sex marriages are not right, and gays are not humans. Wow. How old are you and where are you from? I mean, sure, you're a closed minded idiot. And you're probably just repeating the words of your friends and family, who's only reading material consists of Guns N Ammo Magazine. But, that statement was completely inhumane, and illogical. Just because someone doesn't share the same views as you doesn't give you the right to deny them basic human rights. After all, I'm not going to say, "Idiots are not human.", because even though I'm not 100% sure, I believe that you are, in fact, human. He's from America- he said he has family fighting in the Iraq war I think he said? But anyway the age is what I would like to truely know. He just comes in here, spits his opinions with no facts that make sense to back it up and calls that a good argument? His point of views are just wrong. As for saying Weez can't read, he can read fine yummy. He just didn't agree with what you said, which no one else does either kid. One of the most ignorant people I've ever came across :? Quer_Skulll
Well it's true what do you expect from a country like that. Revolutionary policy in freedom Same sex marriages are not right, and gays are not humans. i'm pretty sure you're just afraid to be one. Also there are legal drugs and illegal drugs for a reason. Only sad idiots take drugs that do not help you in anyway. certain joints prevent cancer.. and make cancer less painfull if you have it in some cases even cures it. so your point being? Please mary jane being legal? That hurts your lungs and damages your brain it offers no positive effect. no idea what mary jane is but the stuff we legalise is less damage-able to your lungs then normal cigs and offers a whole load of positive effects. not to mention that because of it's legalisation it's no more in that dark underground world. Again I wouldn't expect anything more from someone from a stupid country like yours. don't worry i didn't expect you to understand and convert. by the way im not dutch i'm half blood thai and half blood Moran a foreigner. Zerocool11
You're right about the bonuses, at least most of them. 1) They do pay for college. 2) They pay you well for enlisting. However, you have to remember that you have to survive Iraq in order to collect on those rewards. Remember we are at war right now, with no real end in sight. You will be shipped to Iraq or Afghanistan, guaranteed and put on the front line since you're joining the Army. I suggest the Air Force or Navy. They'll pay for your college....If you don't die. I think the Army is a joke, but if you want to join, be my guest...It stops them from trying to draft people who want no part in their BS, like me. I find it particularily funny that every troop in Iraq claims we need to "Fight for America's Freedom!" by going to Iraq, yet...We were free from the start. Propaganda ftw. I didn't see Iraqi's invading us. If anything, it was Afghanistan, who crashed into the WTC...Iraqi's haven't done anything to us at home, lol. It's all about oil and politics. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!

hohto
If anything, it was Afghanistan, who crashed into the WTC... Not really. If wasn't Afganistan, it was Al Qaida with Osama Bin Laden. The goverment of Afganistan (Taliban goverment) didn't "give" them to USA and then they attacked. Afganistan didn't arrange the plane crash, but they gave a bit too much support to Al Qaida. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

logic-is-overrated
*turns into indian in bikini*An army of Indians in bikinis would win the war. That much bizarre sexiness would make their heads explode. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. havesometea1
only reason why i want to join is becuz well collage is not for me and i think the army can help me better sucseed in life. for my own person reasons It is hard to succeed in life if you are dead. I would encourage you to find other avenues for your future besides joining the Army. The TV commercials aren't a true reflection of Army life. They are designed to dazzle you with the cool things that "some" of the troops do in the military. The fact is, very few people do those things you see on TV in the Army ads. But it wouldn't be as glamourous if they showed you a bunch of guys staying up until 3:00AM cleaning the latrine for an inspection. Or covered in oil and grease from breaking track on a M113, M1, or . Equally unglamourous is spending weeks on end without a shower or hot meals and then spending 3 days cleaning your M16A2, M2, and M203 because the jerk in the arms room says..."its not clean enough". Who knows you might be lucky and get a Platoon Sargent who used to be a drill Sargent...but who still "thinks" he is a Drill Sargent. Or worse, you could wind up in a Company full of these sort of ex-drill Sargent idiots from the 1st Sargent on down. These are the kind of idiots who come in on a Sunday morning at "o dark thirty" and wake the whole barracks up to make them clean it for 4 hours...just because they can. Or maybe one day your Platoon Sargent, who still thinks he is a drill Sargent, will take the platoon to an area that has fire weed in it and make you low-crawl for a few hours....just because he can. If you are lucky you won't be in a unit that beats the crap out of you when you get promoted. If you really want to "be all you can be"...forget the marketing hype of the Army and do something else with your life. Merre
Well I don't feel like reading 7 pages of opinions coming from people who know nothing about the army. I'm in the army for over a year now and i'm corporal in an infantry unit. So I I think I can give you some decent information. Although I doubt the military system in belgium is same as the country you live in... I must say the army is the best job I've done so far. I've worked three years in factories, tree plantations, shops etc. And this is the job that offers the most variety and tax benefits. It isn't the best paid job, but one thing is sure: you have to be born for this job. People who only come for money are fools! I really mean that, because someone who's only after cash doesn't survive here. Soldiers aren't the same as civilians, you know. The mentality here is way much tougher than anywhere else and if you don't bite back to people trying to mess with you you're lost. You have to be motivated, physically well trained, have a tough character and you have to be able to suffer a lot without collapsing. I've been weeks in the woods here last winter. Running around with an equipment of 50 kilo and a rifle, bulletproof vest during minus 10̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâð isn't fun. Especially not when you have to guard a spot and you aren't allowed to make light, sleep or make noises. I can guarantee you the regime isn't always fun but there are loads of benefits too. Like I said: * variety. I never know what I'm going to do when I wake up. If one crazy chief tells me we're departing for some days I have to follow. If they say I have to stay in a classroom for a boring course of e.g. radio communication then I have to do it. I mean, it's sometimes boring. But you'll never hear a decent soldier say "Darn, every day is as boring as hell..." * Brotherhood: I would do anything for my team. I'm responsible for 8 men who are the younger, the same age and even older than me. Just because I was smart enough to go to a military school for one year. That will make me sergeant in two months. Others have to work 20y for that. Imagine  Teambuilding and love for the mates are the most beautiful thing the army has offered me so far! * Financial benefits: Tho I earn less cash than a year ago when I worked as a civilian, I have less costs. Doctor is free, hospital insurance is free, using train/bus is free, less tax costs, life insurance when you do a foreign mission, etc. * Sports: Here I am paid 2 hours a day to practise a sport of my choice, so the soldier's health and condition remains mint... Not sure if other countries do it too... But I have to tell you one thing: doing the military school at your age isn't such a good idea I think. Here in Belgium you have to stay in the school during the two years you follow the training. You can go home friday evening and you have to return sunday afternoon. You also have less holidays than other kids, since you are paid for the work you do you also lose vacations. So don't forget that puts a lot of pressure on your social life. I'm already one year further and I still see my girlfriend only two days a week. In my opinion it's better to finish school so you have a decent degree in something. If you join the army after that, and you don't feel you're at the right spot you can still get back to the civilian way of living. A last point: I'm not sure if the American discipline is comparable with the standards here. The American army is way more conservative (not only the army  ) and I also think they treat the soldiers worse than we're treated here... Anyway, I'll stop typing now since I lost feeling in my wrists :D but if you have any more questions feel free to PM me. I'll gladly answer your questions or share my experciences so far...
