I think setting our hopes high for this to make slayer incredibly profitable (or should I say profitable) again is too much to ask, there are just simply too many people with high slayer nowadays. Unless the drops are items which degrade and can't be fixed, the price will only keep falling like every slayer drop has ever done.

However, very much looking forward to "interesting combat tactics", strykewyrms were a step in the right direction but more annoying than anything, anything to break up the click->kill->eat->pick up drop->repeat is good in my book :)

I don't want my slayer to be incredibly profitable because it means there will be more noobs or bots taking up my spawns -.-. I want areas that are hard, require high apm, and offer superior slayer xp as a reward. Just like how ct fiends are way faster than ac fiends, if you got the stats to survive. And how mithril dragons can be killed in Bandos with protect magic instead of the easy Karil's + prot melee. Something like multicombat dark beasts, where you have to deal with both magic and melee attacks, while also balancing prayer needs because you are using a titan over a yak.

I'd love to see some more drops that can be attached to existing items to enhance them. Not only are such drops valuable but they enhance outdated equipment.

As long as the bonuses from said item are better than the vine whip I think it would be pretty cool to see some attachments for rune armour or something that needs a High Smithing level to attach.

Something that makes (modern) magic attacks 1 speed faster and reduces the range to melee range or salamander range. Good dps (fire surge not as good as rapier though) and not as useful in pvp. I think. Because of modern magics only & robes having low defence.

you do realize that everything can be botted if someone just takes the time to write a script. Im sure people bot abby demons outside of kuradel so odds are it could be easily adjusted. Shame i just went f2p right as this comes out. I would hope a slayer monster that uses all 3 styles of attack which actually gives it a challenging aspect rather then just 100% pro (skill of your choice) the entire kill. I doubt it will be that great but, slayer is without a doubt my favorite skill and i would love for jagex to prove me wrong.

Wait what, theres been one announced?

read the topic about 15% off membership & bonus xp weekend.

Btw I am hoping on some slayer only untradeable drops :)

Yes please.

Vine whip is definitely a step in the right direction because it requires a slayer level to wield it. I'd like to see more of that along with this idea.

Pretty difficult to screw up a slayer update. Think Jadinkos are about as close as you can get.

Lots of good ideas on this page, too bad Jagex will screw it up again.

They didn't screw up Temple trekking and did quite a good job of updating minigames so maybe they make it good :) (at least I am hoping they will do)

As long as Chris L is the one making it, it will be good. If it's whatever idiot developer made Jadinkos, it will suck. I don't see Slayer ever being as profitable as it once was though. Free trade will kill any worthwhile drops for sure.

I'm only okay with task only monsters if it doesn't apply to 99 Slayers (or if 99 Slayers can use slay points to buy the ability to kill off tasks). Ice Strykewyrms piss me off, they're the absolute perfect monster for mage training but I rarely ever get the task.

I wouldn't call it overdue, really. Slayer's a popular, well rounded skill, and it's had plenty of updates. The rewards are way more substantial than a lot of other skills (looking at you, Firemaking).

Slayer has no rewards apart from the Vine Whip.

Whip, granite maul, boots, masks, dark bow?

It has quite a few rewards: and good ones too.. It's not jagex who decided that those items aren't worth a lot.

Same could be said for any gathering skill nowadays - heck for mining the best reward comes at lvl 85. - and woodcutting at lv 80.. Those should be main priority with updating them to be "valueable" for anything else than total level.

I think the thing with skills like woodcutting and mining is that the higher you level the faster you can get the materials so some people might not view themselves 'maxing' the skill at those levels as, for example, 90 mining could get a rune ore faster than 85.

I like the idea of only being able to kill a monster on task and higher levelled monsters too, I'd support both!

Jagex is known for making shallow content and with that said I would be interested to see them implement summoning into slayer and having certain summoning creatures help us slay. Just a concept, really... But it would give more of a use to the familiars that don't see action.

Like summoning creatures isnt already an aid in slaying?

Steel titan is perhaps 10% more kills at things like abberants, mutated velds etc. and like 30-40% more at waterfiends etc. I'd say that's significant. Not to mention that uni allows you to survive some tasks (pre-soul split) and yak reduces the costs of powerslaying if you do irons/steels. Summoning already helps slayer a ton.

No I'm talking about them being used as a mechanic to kill the creatures.

If you have something like Gulega, but assigned, then I guess that's alright. Though I'd say it needs a summoning requirement to get them assigned if they require specific familiars. And whatever the slayer monster is it better be 50k slayer xp/hr or have a great effigy rate.

You can bot kuradel's dungeon, but you can't camp there. That means that even if there are bots in kuradel's dungeon it doesn't get overrun because you have to be on a slayer task. This means people tend to leave pretty fast because their task is up.

I hope they do more like kuradel's dungeon. Also, I hope they do more slayer drops for only slayer tasks.

The big problem with the economy is that slayer drops become more and more common, so over time their value has to decrease because they're exiting the game. I would like to see some systems in place to remove old items (better than the crap that was MA!) Some way to benefit by crushing up old rune armor or slayer items for smithing xp or something like that. It doesn't have to be much, but worth it enough that as the cost of the item goes down, it becomes worth buying and "destroying", but if the cost of the item is too high it is not worth it. (Thereby creating a semi-artificial floor on the price of items) But it cant' be like high-alch which puts more gp in the game. It should instead give xp or some other minigame reward or something.

As it stands, we are getting more and more whips and dark bows and vine whips and sols into the game, but hardly any are leaving. And it's happening at a rate faster than the players are expanding.

I agree with above. In my opinion pvp is a good way to remove combat gear from the game, dark bows, sols and whips are all used quite a lot, as are dragon boots, granite mauls and whatnot. Trouble is that reinstating Bounty Hunter or similar might not be very popular, making the effect too small.

Even if they add many small mechanics to the game to reduce items, it doesn't have to be one large one.

It would help, I honestly thing jagex do need to start sorting out the economy, but first lets remove the bots.

I voted for free trade & wilderness, as I wanted the free trade. Rather have to limits back now.

A lot of people seem to comment that the content will be "shallow", I am looking forward to this dungeon I think they can pull it off nicely but then I don't raise my expectations as high as other. I'm only 72 Slayer but once I finish 99 prayer tonight (hopefully) I am looking forward to getting back to my tasks, the vinewhip (with what little bonus it has) has made me want to raise my slayer, anything that makes you want to train a skill you've never really been a fan of is good content in my opinion.

Runescape has always been a very diverse game and by that I call them a 'jack of all trade' game. Being a jack of all trades means you cannot be a master of one. Jagex has a hard time coming out with very deep content and everything that comes out is figured out and mastered rather quickly. It's not to say content isn't enjoyable either, but because they are a jack of all trades content will always be shallow and be under par for the majorities expectations.
