January 10, 201214 yr Here is a link to some artwork to some places we've visited and places we've yet to even see. Some people speculate the building designs may be for ardougne. http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/01/runescape-is-getting-a-facelift-heres-some-art/ Here are some images we haven't seen: Maxed [February 14, 2012] | Completionist [October 25, 2012] | Trimmed Completionist [in Progress]Visit my Blog!

January 10, 201214 yr Author Uhm that article states no source at all.....Its a jagex artist-for-hire. Also this thread is purely speculation on what jagex could be doing if these images portray future content. January 10, 201214 yr I don't see where the big "facelift" idea is coming from. There's 2 or 3 concept arts that look as if they are new content; but in no way display any game upping for existing levels. A heap of already released concept arts. And a couple from runefest (player armour & the demon chart) And its not like things aren't getting updated graphically most months, whether they are small tweaks or larger releases. January 10, 201214 yr Author ill believe it when I see it. I can believe that it will look like updated Drayner throughout the game not that it will look good. Is what I call good, of course they would have to substantially change their game engine for thisTwo decades on Gielenor? lmao. January 10, 201214 yr ill believe it when I see it. I can believe that it will look like updated Drayner throughout the game not that it will look good. Is what I call good, of course they would have to substantially change their game engine for this I believe I've seen that picture before. Am I right saying that it has been in the players gallery a few years back or something like that? Looking at concept art, and saying that it there's coming a "facelift" isn't really working, since the detail of a drawer of a model of course would be much better than a whole landscape ingame, or figures that need to be animated. But with that said, I must say that Jagex have done a good job through the years of updating the looks of this game. Comparing it to the game I started playing in 04, (rs2, so all you that played RSC must see it even more) it doesn't even look like the same game anymore.
January 10, 201214 yr Considering they run in game in the browser and with Flash, I'd have to say they do a remarkable job with the graphics. To upgrade to the level of detail in the picture Ring World posted, they'd probably have to move to a downloadable program like games such as WoW use. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
January 10, 201214 yr I haven't seen that demon chart before. It's cut off on the linked site though... Anyone have the full version? I'm wondering a bit why they show a Greater Demon evolving into a Kalgerion-esque Demon when this has yet to actually be applied in game, or why they would worry about updating Dungeoneering-era graphics when some areas are still stuck in 2003-2004. Honestly I wouldn't want a monster as weak as a Greater Demon to be portrayed so awesomely anyway, but they are due for an update. And@ the above...Why can't they still have it browser based with current graphics and another version that must be downloaded but has graphics like those? They would both play the same way, one user would just see much more detail than another.Well, I say why, but we already know THAT big of an overhaul is pointless to talk about.

January 10, 201214 yr I don't actually like that Catherby picture. I'd much rather they went for the slightly exaggerated fantasy look they're developing than dully shaped but textured realism. Kotaku doesn't seem to get that this is happening incrementally. The concept art for ardougne (maybe) looks nice. Pity we can't see things from the excellent bottom-up view given by some of the concept art, which in my opinion ends up being a real weakness. Some of the concept art (notably the wilderness volcano one) doesn't look half as cool once it's in-game. I'm not an efficienado.

I'm talking about a multi-gigabyte application file. Many other MMO's do it, and can get great graphics for only a couple of gigs of hard drive space. Being able to run RS in the browser on dial-up was a noble ambition 6 or 7 years ago, but it's horribly outdated. I think they'd attract more new players than they would lose with a major engine upgrade that required this type of download and broadband internet. Heck, they could even implement Blutters' idea and run both. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. I had gone up into the northern wilderness to collect bones to bury for prayer, it is a world PvP area but generally people were polite enough to leave you be if it was obvious you weren't there for fighting. Anyway my door bell rang and I went to answer it, when I came back to the PC I was dead and because you lose stuff when you die in PvP, I had dropped my armor... which happened to be some of the best in the game. Like you I quit there and then. ROFLMAO! What a load of baloney!

RS can get installed into several hardcoded locations, e.g. C:\, user home, Windows directory etc. If you delete the one with over 300 megabytes, you'll see the difference when you next play RuneScape. Anyways, if Jagex wanted to put several gigabytes there, they could do so.

January 10, 201214 yr Maybe it's just me but I feel like the 2009 model looks more menacing and evil than the alleged 2012 model. 2012 is too bright, almost a cartoony face. my youtube
