First day of school was fun. The combination of forgetting to bring my lunch, terribly muggy air, a surprise thunderstorm, walking up a steep uphill slope, and the five textbooks that I needed to bring back home almost caused me to pass out (well, I don't have empirical data supporting that conclusion, but that's what it felt like).

 

Surprisingly it seems that the classes won't be as much work as I thought, so the primary challenge for the new school year is physical.

I just realized why my endurance has been severely impeded compared to what it was a few years ago:

I drink diet soda, use artificial sweeteners and eat low-sugar versions of pretty much any food that usually contains a lot of it. My diet which is supposed to have 57% of its energy composed of carbohydrates only gets a fraction of that from the grains I eat, and in the end there's no surplus left so with a deficiency of dextrose, my liver and muscle tissue are unable to produce glycogen and my primary energy stores are left empty. With this happening, whenever my level of activity exceeds what my energy intake is able to fuel, my body starts burning what little body fat I have, which is much slower and results in my muscles being unable to perform as well as they're intended to.

 

Who'd have thought that the fact that I eat less junk than most people is the cause of my weakened performance?

Though then again, what else could one expect when I eat both low-carb and low-fat foods to keep my cholesterol at bay?

 

EDIT: Oh, and honey. The one or two teaspoons of honey I ingest a day as flavoring with my tea are probably the largest doses of sugar my body gets unless I decide to get a candy bar or something that day.

Seriously though, no one here (but you) cares about what you just posted, or quite a few other things you post. That would be like me keeping a daily log of what I do (which is; school, make cyanide for "bug collecting", homework, "collect insects", rinse, lather, repeat, thanks for asking)

Seriously though, no one here (but you) cares about what you just posted, or quite a few other things you post.

 

The fact is that Lei appears to care, and since there not everyone posts that their dislike of it, does give grounds for the opposite argument.

 

It is somewhat inherant in discussions on social dynamics that people come to the table with a conception which cannot be changed because everything is built around it. For instance, if we were to claim that the Tavern mostly consisted of Right Wing Extremists (Which we could quite easily do on the basis of Hegemony and the quest for Despotic power, disregard for civil liberties, etc, etc, etc), then unless the majority of the Tavern (Consisting of everyone from RPG to ALG) would need to make an impassioned defence of liberty before the claim would need to be abanonded. If a mere five people claimed that the Tavern was not mostly Right Wing Extremists then we can simply point to examples and claim people are ignorant/misrepresenting things.

Likewise you can point to the various political positions adopted in discussions and make a case that we are mostly Left Wing Radicals, or Centerists.

 

So unless there is some incentive to change people's minds...Something to be gained from abandoning their previous position...There cannot be change, and since Mather and Lei see each other being interested, and see the Back Room being used for Off Topic Discussions, which do occassionally encompass our personal lives, it is therefore fair to assume that it can be used in that way. Ultimately they are not wrong and we don't really have an arguement.

Also given that there is no downside for Mather and Lei, other than generating activity, which they like, there is no reason for them to stop.

Similarly there are few downsides for us, since we run circles around them when they do respond...Or at least we think we do, they may think differently...And when we didn't respond to them at all they posted more often, so it is neccessary while we wish to continue using the Tavern.

 

It is practically inherant in systems where there is not a single unifying authority...people don't have a sense of right and wrong clearly displayed and so they feel free to create their own views, based on their own experiances, which are at odds with other people's experiances (most of the time) and unless one of the groups/individuals rises to power, and wield that power effectively, the competing sides just fight themselves into impotence.

Fair enough, so Mather and Lei get along (maybe they can be live journal buddies!?!) and like attention (Whee cherry picking ideas from an argument, what could go wrong with that sort of logic?). As I do not want to hear them rambling on about M: How god like he is with computers/life/womeniftheywouldonlytalktohimdamnit/homestuck or L:How everyone hates and or is out to get her, I guess I will just ignore them. It's better that way.

Using Nuclear Weapons as Standard Ammuntion was American policy for the second half of the cold war...Apparently Air to Air Missiles are not dangerous unless they are nuclear tipped.

 

Grim, the only other alternative, that I can think of, is to create a Backroom 0.5, which we take it in turns to visit and respond to the innane ramblings. If we don't then they innevitably gravitate back to here...

I am making no more effort to impress her than I am making to impress you, which is to say if there's any attempt to do such, it is a subconscious one.

 

In all likelihood, her presence and my level of activity are either unrelated, or you've got cause and effect reversed.

 

 

And since you are under the belief that I am attempting to impress her, which insinuates attraction (which I can understand may make sense to you), either conscious or subconscious, let me make one thing clear:

She is my friend, the only one I am capable of having a prolonged conversation with since Ouyso did a heel-face turn and isolated himself in his room, ceasing and defying all contact with the outside world except the small online gaming community he partakes in. One could say she's the lifeline which keeps me sane...er as despite my asocial tendencies, even I require socialization, though this is merely assumption on my side. Further more she keeps my destructive tendencies at bay by being and outlet for when my stress builds up, for example as during the last anime I watched, when one episode was repeated not once, not twice, but seven times, totaling 3 hours and 12 minutes of the exact same repeating plot divided into 8 episode with only slight differences in clothing to emphasize the duration of a time loop.

 

I know, this may sound like just another case of denial, but fact is that I am incapable of speaking with people I am romantically attracted to, muttering at most maybe 20 words over the duration of an hour, most of which are just "Yes", "Yeah" or "Mhm". Additionally I am likewise incapable of having any sort of battle of wits with them as part of a mental barrier.

None of this is the case here, I point out any idiocy she mutters, I disagree with things she says and I get her flustered by pointing out Freudian slips and indications of denial of her having lingering feelings from when she had a crush on me, the latter which is just being an ass to the same degree it is common to be towards your friends, which would serve against any ulterior motive I could potentially harbor.

I am not entirely sure how your increase in activity after Lei came back caused Lei to come back before your increase in activity.

 

I won't patronise you with Freudian Paradoxes related to the first sentence...But I will say you don't have to be physically (or mentally) attracted to her for you to try to impress her. Given that myself, Grim, Nex and Earth are all more or less hostile to you, and, as you say, you have lost one of your friends, and you were/are bored during the break, its not unreasonable for you to seek people to like you, and because you are a man that means impressing people into liking you.

 

And I will point out that conversations about who blocked who and why they did are not exactly productive, but just lead to recriminations.

There already is one girl I've got a slight crush on, probably because of her similarity to me, like you said. And while she does live quite a distance away, that distance is no longer than approximately 1100km, which is to say back in Drammen. Also while I have lost a friend, that was almost half a year ago already, and it's not like I was traumatized even then.

 

And for the record, my attempts at attracting women come in the form of (honest) flattery, not attempts to impress.
