Gift giving

Seeing the holiday shopping season has started, I'd like to know what you all are giving others, and whats on your wish list.

I'll start -

For my parents, I'm writing them a check for bar stools. They're remodeling their kitchen and won't have space for them come Christmas, but they'll enjoy them once the dust settles

Older sister and brother in law - gift cards to buffalo wild wings, macaroni grill, along with a bottle of wine (unsure which one yet) and six pack of Sam adam's.

Older brother - Holiday gift box of Johnie Walker Black Label, includes flask

Younger sister - Purdue sweatshirt, sweatpants

Younger sister - stud earrings 1/4 ct total weight diamond set in silver.

Youngest sister - Lego Winter Toy Shop 10199

Youngest brother - Hot Wheels Sky Jump track set and Beyblade Metal Fusion Light Sword

Yes, I have a big family. Fortunately they were all easy to shop for.

On my list are work clothes. I think I'm getting something like 6 pairs of dress pants and 6 dress shirts. Should be a good Xmas.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

I have a new iPod in store this Christmas. Usually my parents just get something for each other and I pay for it because I really have no clue what they want lol.

My list so far is just Skyrim and Saints Row 3. I really just want cash so I can get a car soon, but my mom likes to buy me actual things. I'll probably be getting her a TV, and a couple CDs for my sister. I'm really bad at thinking of things I want around Christmas, then there'll be a thousand things I want in January.

My list is Skyrim and WoW: Cataclysm (Yeah I know I'm late on that...) and some cash from my extended family. I can't really say I can get anything for anyone because I'm broke and nobody is hiring me...

I cant even afford food, much less give it away!

My family doesn't really celebrate Christmas, so I can't say I have anything on my wish list.

I can't afford too much but I'm getting my parents the usual shower/bath/deoderant/smelly stuff. Don't know what to get my brother yet, he's 12 so unless he's getting an XBox, which I might get him a game for, I'll give him money. I'd rather him do what he wants with it.

I've no idea yet what to get my boyfriend, I should start thinking. I need to get him something really nice :)

As for presents for myself I only want money. I need to get some new clothes and some running shoes & gym clothes. I'm hoping to get in the range of £300 from cash presents overall.

I already gave my parents their gift: a home made 2012 calendar. I give them a new one every year. I have no idea what I'm getting my sisters... or my bf for that matter D:

For Christmas all I want is an epic art book :P

I don't personally celebrate Christmas myself, and I don't really have much to ask for. At most, a few sketchbooks, some drawing guides, and good quality pencils (all the ones I get are terrible) or just books on random subjects.

We're Sikh so we just use Xmas to chill with our famalam and we give them sweets or chocolate to share.

As per usual, I myself want nothing for Christmas. I still need to go shopping for everyone, and I am generally the kind of person who just wanders from shop to shop until I see something that I know would suit someone. However, here's an idea of what I'll buy for others:

Mom - An item that best describes my love for her. This could vary from buying an item with a witty saying to simply writing a poem. It's always hard because I try to find the best thing for mom.

Dad - Something that will be of use to him (knife, fishing equipment, something for the farm/shop)

15 y/o brother - Something for his car or his truck, or guitar related (some really cool guitar picks would be great stocking stuffers)

20 y/o sister - Xbox game, chocolates, some bath stuff

Girlfriend - Dance slippers, sexy guitar picks, a string for her mittens, write her a poem, sing her Hurt - Johnny Cash/NIN

Gf's sisters - DS games (or w/e their handhelds are), hockey apparel, something relating to horses

Gf's mom - Something antique

Gf's stepdad - No clue really. Hopefully something will come to mind.

Gf's bro - Flask, something related to one of the many instruments he plays

Gf's bro's gf - Something related to her instruments

Gf's grandma - Something relating to sunflowers or angels

That's the best I have thus far. I still need to make time to go to the city and do some shopping. If all else fails, I send everyone on vacation.

Damn that looks liek it could be an expensive list.

I only normally get stuff for my immediate family, so my list won't be too big. I have crap all money anyway so I probably won't get much, haven't started thinking about it. I don't normally ask for much, so I don't expect other people to expect much.

rosssigfinal.jpg

My parents actually told me not to get them anything for Christmas since I'm living on my own now and don't have a job yet. So I just have to buy for my girlfriend, which I have no idea what to get her as of now. I'll think of something though.

I'm just getting cash most likely from my parents, which will go to clothes and savings.

I honestly have no idea what to get anyone.

I'm probably going to get my girlfriend the new zelda, other that that I have pretty much no idea.

Anyway. I just want an iPhone 4s.

Not sure what i'll be getting my family, at all.

Might try and find them something in the US that i won't be able to buy back home.

For my mother I am buying her something simple, and some people might consider shallow...but she LOVES the Trans-Siberian Orchestra...So I am going to buy her the latest album that came out. It is older, but she doesn't have it, and personally I want it as well

Father is a [bleep] to shop for...I really have no idea what to get him. Just might give him a package of socks just to be a troll.

My sister loves owls, so I am getting her something owl related...maybe a real owl. Maybe not the best of ideas but I know she would love it.

Well I got to pick out what I wanted for Christmas this year, and this is all I am getting this year.

  • 2 months later...

So all the gifts and celebrations later we are very close to Valentine's Day. Does anyone of you celebrate this? I am looking for a great last minute gift for my girlfriend. I thought about the classics like flowers or chocolate or taking her to the movies or a restaurant. I know she loves wine but is it an appropriate Valentine's gift to make a wine delivery? Or might I be totally wrong with such a present. Of course, I would include the classic flowers - not roses but lilies because they are her favorites.
