It's over now in terms of new clues, presumably it will stay in-game for atleast another week though.

[spoiler=Suggestions to solutions to first clue]

Day 5:

Clue 1:

We hear the prenom of Robert from 802 for this offspring. (3) EGG

A shortened friendslist which is initially under royal oath ambiguously is milled. (5) FLOUR

This drink is fit for a thousand Empress of England who is missing mad Mat, but has the K. (4) MILK

= Cake?

That sort of makes sense, but I can't see the logic behind [hide]egg.[/hide]

ofspring leads to

eggs

I got that, but is that not kind of ignoring the entirety of the rest of the clue?

If anyone can give a full explanation as to why EGG leads to "We hear the prenom of Robert from 802 for this offspring.", please do so? It annoys me people know the answer, but nobody seems to know how they got to it. Offspring enough surely can't lead to egg alone? The rest of the line must mean something.

Same for the other clues, friendslist (friends list?) + under royal oath ambiguously = FLOUR?

thousand Empress of England + missing mad Mat, but has the K = MILK?

So without the K it would be MIL, but how does that link to Mod Mat K?

This is where Egg comes from, its the most tenuous link between clue and answer in the world.

The only reason I got cake was I worked our Flour and Milk and knew the 1st answer was 3 letters.

Thanks pal! So Robert is actually misleading then, for me the clue should have been something "We hear a part of the King's last name from 802 for this offspring."

Jagex are making these clues way too far-fetched. Boooo.

I believe it stems from Egbert being sort of the 'old form' of Robert

For flour shortened friendslist = F L under royal oath = U R O

Re-arrange to get the milled item known as Flour

For Milk

Mod Mat K without the mat gives us K

Empress leads to Matilda take off 'mad mat' we get il

so 'ilk' and it's a drink... milk

I must admit they are all rather tenuous-obscure links that I only solved via reverse engineering the known answers, even with googling the relavent kings and queens it's hard to pinpoint some of them too closely.

...Is anybody outside of the UK supposed to be able to solve these clues?

i worked just about all of it out with some wikiped use on the names in the clues. though i still cant see anything to do with anything in the last part of the last clue.

You say that like us Uk folks all have some intimate knowledge of all these kings and queens and didn't have to google them ourselves.

Standard Uk King & Queen History at best only really includes Elizabeth I Elizabeth II George VI Mary I Victoria I Charles I Henry V Henry VI Henry VIII Richard III and a lot of that derives a lot from Shakespeare's plays.

Well despite being "Immigrants from the UK", us Aussies are not taught anything about King/Queen Hirachy (Chrome wont give me the proper word) in any form of History class during school, nor Shakespeare for that matter, and I can assume the majority of the world outside UK is similar too.

We aren't exactly taught King/Queen stuff enmass most of our history lessons in school focus on world events like WW2, WW1 or things like 'poor and the state'

Of all like 80(?) odd english Monarch's the only ones I know anything about at all are:

Elizabeth I - The one who imprisoned Mary Queen of Scots and more notably The Virgin Queen

Elizabeth II - Current Queen

George VI - Queen's dad, the last King

Victoria I - Victorian age, just one of them things ya know.

Charles I - The King deposed by Parliament in a civil war

Henry V & Richard III - Better known shakespeare plays, but most would likely know nothing more than the name

Henry VI, Henry IV, Richard II and King John - Also shakespeare plays but fewer would know them.

Henry VIII - The 6 wives another one like liz I and Victoria thats just known.

Obviously by the process of logic I'm aware there must be Henry I - III + VII, Richard I, George I - V but dunno jack about em.

This is what I have for reasoning...most of it already mentioned, some it it very obscure, but well...

[hide]

Clue 1:

We hear the prenom of Robert from 802 for this offspring. (3) King Eggbert ruled from 802, take away the bert(As that is already in Robert) and you have egg, which is offspring) -> Egg

A shortened friendslist which is initially under royal oath ambiguously is milled. (5) the shortened friendslist is fl; initially under royal oath - take the initals: u r o; ambigously - It's an anagram of f l u r o, and has to do with a mill -> Flour

This drink is fit for a thousand Empress of England who is missing mad Mat, but has the K. (4) Roman thousand is M; Matilda(Empress of england) without mad mat is just il; plus the k -> milk

Clue 2:

Aethelred roughly lost his quick elemental shield in this stitch up. (6) Aethelred lost his elemental shield, so take away the ele(for elemental) and you get aethrd which is an anagram for -> thread

Point north east as these eight kings take fifty east. (6): northeast shortened is ne; eight kings reference the edwardd, so ed; fifty(roman) is L, east abbreviated is e -> needle

Particularly tough Aethelred without Edward about for this armour. (4,7) -> particularly tough: hard; aethelred without ed is aethel, an anagram for leather -> hard leather

Clue 3:

Fifty opulent Georges initially a bit wooden (3) The roman fifty is L; opulent georgoes initally: take the initals, so og; a bit wooden -> log (This should theoretically be logs....)

Like copper the 500th Queen fights with fists for this firemaker (9) Like copper is tin; The roman 500 is d; A queen who fights with fists is boxer. A friemaker hints, rearrange this to get -> tinderbox

This great can't read about the start of our own royal ground (6) Aelfred (The great) without read is elf or lf, depending on how you spell him. This should probably spell out -> flames, but I'm not sure how to get the mas or emas out of there.

Might aswell just buy these dang things ingame when everyone makes free accounts and spams them into the game. (If dont get them from free spins or wtf.) Or if your not allowed to do that (idk) plenty will still be spammed into the game by those who buy spins.

Say you bought 75 spins thats the same worth of about 27m ingame gold bought illegally. (Obviously dont do that.)

Once people spammed them into the game I doubt they be worth that much. Say you get one every 30 spins, thats about 13m gp. Im doubting it be worth that much gp. Say you get one every 15 spins, thats about 6.5m each.

Might aswell just buy the dang thing ingame than buying spins. Or atleast make free accounts or something. They charge ripoff prices... Earned gp ingame is better value than rl value money for this item. Let other idiots buy the spins and then buy it with gp for cheaper.

Obviously dont buy illegal gold or anything. (Just pointing out how ridiculous jagex prices are. Its a huge con..) Its just for sake of discussion.. As they both go hand in hand related to real life money. I suggest you do neither.. Buy them with 'earned' gp is probably ganna be best option when the prices plummet.

I followed that idea. Worked out perfectly. :P

Events are usually around for two weeks, so I'd say at least until next week's update.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

I noticed that the little music playing through the cutscene sounded like "Let Freedom Ring", which to my knowledge is generally a patriotic song for America. Am I wrong or is this just silly?

The tune is actually meant to be "God Save The Queen", the British national anthem, however both songs use the same melody :P

It's playing God Save the Queen, the British national anthem.
