Four new Skill Gear Sets on the Squeal of Fortune!

As part of this update, existing skill gear sets (Fishing, Mining, Woodcutting, Construction, Runecrafting and Thieving) have been improved, rebalanced and boosted to 5%, so its a good time to start training those skills again!

In addition, four new XP boosting skill outfits have been added to the Squeal of Fortune. Not only will each 5-piece kit certainly make you look the part, each item within the set will give you a 1% boost a 5% boost in total on any XP earned in that skill whilst wearing these items. The boost lasts for 30 days before the kit becomes cosmetic only so make sure you get your Sous chefs toques and Blacksmith's helmets at the ready!

Planning to cook, craft, smith or concoct this weekend? From 00:00 (GMT) on Friday the 28th of September until 23:59 (GMT) on Monday the 1st of October, players will have increased chances to grab these new skill gear sets for Cooking, Crafting, Smithing and Herblore.

For players who want their boosts to last a little bit longer, recharge gems will also be added to the wheel. Available in 1 day and 7 day versions, the crystals will allow you to recharge the boost on an item.

Remember - all members receive four free spins per day only until Sunday the 30th of September 23.59 (GMT), so subscribing is a great way to maximise your chances to win.

Happy spinning!

I was like wtf when I got this, had to read the news post to find out what it was. Got it from an uncommon slot, seems like a nice group of items as they only last for 30 days until they become cosmetic and all the existing skill outfits you get from game content are a permanent 5% boost.

Mhm if this appeared in the October bts as a normal update.

Blacksmiths -- Artisan Workshop or Blast Furnace

Botanist -- Herblore Habitat or Flash Powder Factory

Sous Chef -- Gnome restaurant minigame or Trouble Brewing

Artisan -- Trouble brewing

Or maybe even Stealing Creation for all of them.

Seriously, this could had easily been a weeks worth of content rather than on the SoF.

tbh the xp outfits are not a huge thing for me due to the time it takes to earn. I am glad they boosted them though. 5% makes a lot more sense than 2.5%

For one second, I read the newspost as "New Skill Gear on Solomon's Store" and crapped my pants.

Fortunately, it's just the effects of runespanning for a couple of hours straight.

That being said, pretty sure I saw a strange "glove" thing earlier on the SOF which was a member's object. They haven't tried offering F2Pers any costumes or SOF-only items since Queen's Guard outfits.

...i'm almost speechless. I mean come on these sets would have been perfect for permanent content from any one of a dozen different minigames instead of using them as more lame promotion for the sof....and i'm guessing that this is gonna be like queens guard and ceremonial where jagex is going to one day just arbitrarily remove from the sof?

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

I assume they'll eventually move up to the rare slots and become more difficult to obtain than any of the other in-game sets (unless you buy a ton of spins).

Of course, I really hope they eventually move them to being minigame rewards, much like all the other sets, but that seems a bit far flung for Jagex at the moment.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

come on really...really!! no the outfits are going to stay as lame sof gear... they run out after 30 days....unless you spend more cash on spins and get a skill set recharge that makes it last an extra amount of days.

All that work for a 5% boost.

I don't actually see anyone spending money just to get these. They aren't a game changer, they're something that a player will get when s/he buys spins for another reason, then they'll probably get ignored, especially once the pieces become rares.

So, it looks like they've probably created the SoF's first piece of dead content! I suppose that makes it an actual part of the game now? :twss:

Wrong. They are cosmetic outfits, that will be desired if they look good.

I'm tired of this sof shit that you can only get if you buy spins or be blessed by [bleep]ing Yelps.

This is stupid.

How long will it be until they just put all this shit in Solomon's rwt emporium?

There we go. It was quite some time since the last SoF weekend promotion. I almost started to think they had decided to stop doing these every now and then, perhaps just do it like once a month or something. I was wrong apparently. It is good the outfits are not permanent and just gives a 5% boost. I don't think this promotion will be as popular as the recent alchemist's amulet one because of this. But certainly it will increase the number of spins sold.

I agree with all of those who have posted here before about that these outfits should be obtainable in game as well. Either through minigames related to the skills or stealing creation. I would love if you could spend sc points on getting these xp-boosting items.

What I however really like with this update is that my master rc robes now gives me 5% bonus xp instead of 2,5%. That is a whole lot bonus rc xp to me when doing runecrafting (which I do a lot). Yay :)

The 4 content developers working on solomon's store and sof have to be the most productive people at Jagex. A ton of new animal-related sets ON TOP OF 4 full skilling sets? Could you move those 4 to actual content and replace them with a few monkeys or something? Would be nice.
