What're the reasons for the new computer? Because that $700 is a BIG HELP in college, whether you believe it or not. I'm sure that's what she's thinking.

Jeez, do you realise how boring you sound?

I'm getting old. -_-;

But hey, $700 = 2-3 quarters of books! I'd love to have $700!

Man those things are growing in price!

But yeah, listen to your parents. They are right most of the time.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

I wanted a ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã2000 pound new computer they went no ay so i threw my other one out the window and blamed it on my older bro and i got his one happy ending huh? :D

I dont find that at all surprising that somebody would do that. However, I really consider it quite sad and pathetic that not only would you do something like that but you'd then proudly post it in public (probably hoping for a childish "lmao" responce).

Im really sorry if you find this post offensive to you or if you feel Im going a bit far here but Im being brutally honest, if I ever have children that are so spoilt that they would do that sort of thing Id give them a good hard slap.

You know what? your posts are really annoying since you act so stupid. What kind of idiot throws their computer out the window? Your mum needs to give you a good spanking and i would give you a big slap on the face even if i werent your brother just to refresh your memory on what the word "money" means.

On topic: good luck on getting a new computer :) If your parents wont allow you to buy it just ask permission for you to make which is alot cheaper then buying a ready made one. :D

arg the devil is back from vacation. now i want a computer again, and an ipod nano 2 gb black. my friend is buying my old one sence i "fixed" it. all i realy did was stick a rubberband through the lanyard hole, and wrapped it around the headphone plug so it is pulled in the direction that i need it to be. but i also have a new excuse for getting a computer. you see we are doing a redigion thing in boyscouts, and we are going to do a video. i wanna edit it on the computer, then show it as a dvd. and i will tell them that i want to do it on my own computer so that if i break it it won't break the computer they use. i also just came from a computer class on multimedia, and i said that if i was gonna make a pc game i would have to spend a lot of time on the computer, and that they might wanna go on the internet on somthing with more than 128 mb of ram once in a while. but my shopping list is as follows:

video capture thing $60

ipod nano with stuff $300

xbox stuff for better graphix $15

computer $630

moniter and speakers $120

for all of you who cant do math that is $1250 american

right now i probally have $730 so i wil need some loans maby from my colage fond? its only wow i take that back $520 i will hopefully be able to pay it back in 2 years on my current alowance 240 a year. also i will need software which will be expensive like bout i donno gotta go.

edit: that computer is too slow i need somthing with a faster processer

indeed. if i were his parents, id be saying "how much would it cost to ship him to boot camp?'

as for the computer, from what ive heard, it sounds like the only thing u wanna do is create games and edit a video. so from my point of view, you need to set your priorities straight (not to be harsh). you have to think about what else you could do with that money, and what you can do if you spend that money on the computer. IMO, that $1,200 could be used for much more than buying a new computer, Ipod, and other stuff. so yea, live with what you have and dont complain. just wait for a good computer to become obsolete and buy it cheap.

i quoted my self last time. i dont know why. but some1 said "live with what i have. i will tell you people what i have. i have a broken mp3 player. a win98 computer that's not hooked up. i got an xp pro with a 1.5 gb hard drive. i have a ME computer that is soooooooooooooo laggy. and i have a dell xp home computer that some1 else is ALWAYS on. it also has mcafee privacy service and i have a young teen account so i cant go to like any websites i find on google. it stinks. also for my xbox i have a coaxel conection. COAXEL. i had to spend 15 for the cable, and the quality stinks. so i will be updateing my room to the 21st century standreds. and it will kick butt! but my parents control the scales on my new room. and what else should i spend it on. i've been saveing my $ for like 5 years. time to reward myself i wonder!? i think so

Look a*shole, did you PAY for any of that yourself? Your parents have no legal obligations to provide you with anything other than school supplies, food, drink, clothes, and living space. And, a "coaxel" modem (by that I presume you mean cable) is faster than a dial-up connection, and even if you had to spend 15 bucks for the cable, your parents have to pay at least 30 a month for service, so stop whining. I'll tell you what I have:

A $1300 computer with 1GB ram, 80GB hard disk, Athlon 64 3500+ and a 7800GT graphics card

A Creative Zen Vision:M (MP3/video player similar to iPod)

A 5.1 Logitech speaker system and two JBL speakers hooked up in a 7.1 surround configuration

A 19" 8ms LCD Flat panel display

400 Songs and 20 CDs

But see, I had to pay for all of this myself. I'm 14 and I work. I give up my weekday afternoons and Saturdays for a job and get paid what are reportedly meager wages for what I do, since I am the youngest person working at my company, which has upwards of 2000 employees nationwide, and I do my job as good as all the adult employees, who spend all their work time watching videos on Google and IMing each other. It slays me whenver my friends complain about how they are so unlucky, despite the fact that they have big-screen TVs, surround sound, iPods and computers in their rooms, free of charge. Know what I got for Christmas? Two music CDs, a computer game, a Gamecube game, Guinness 06, an almanac, a book and a Lego set. Retail: $150. Many people around where I live are upset because they got an iPod nano instead of an iPod video, and they treat everything they own like crap. I know somebody who is on their fifth iPod because they throw it around the lunch table and then just commit warranty fraud and send it back to Apple.

Case in point - I have to work for my stuff, and I have been since I was 12. You do not work for anything, you complain about having free high-speed internet access, and you are totally disillusioned about what computer you want, given your price range, and you have yet to seek help regarding what you should buy.

You need a reality check.

But you should probably save it. Unless this computer will be faster or more advanced to allow higher studying, the gaming speed is just a side effect .

well i didn't mean internet. but i have that i suppose. i meant that i have a coaxel conection from my xbox to my tv. i actualy had to "downgrade" to it from the included cable. so i have somthing to complain about. some1 said about paying for it myself.

xbox =birthday present

mp3 player= myself

tv= it is extremely old so my parents gave it to me. only coaxel input.(1)

and none of the computers actualy belong to me. one the xp pro practaly belongs to my 5 year old sister. i think that, as a teen, i deserve at least what a 5 year old sister has. this computer does stink, but all the hard drive space is full of her games. when i try to explain to my parents that my 5 year old sister has a computer, and i dont. they get realy mad and say "well it keeps her off the 'family' computer, and scream at me for the rest of the day. so please don't say that i am a spoiled brat anymore, because i'm not, and it really hurts my feelings :( :x

Just wait it out. Sooner or later you'll have your heart set on something else.

I have $500 of my own money from a few weeks of work and selling my guitar and for about two months I was adamant about buying an Acoustic Bass Guitar.

However, about two months later, I didn't think I really needed or wanted it all that badly. I already had an electric bass...and the acoustic was merely for a 'different sound.'

Right now, I'm considering a digital camera, but I'm sure that will change soon. For now, I'm just waiting to see if some new 'thing' comes out that I would like to buy.

If you're really smart, you would ask to buy a LAPTOP. Not only is it portable, but more and more colleges are requiring laptops in school. You're going to need a computer for college anyway, so why not get a laptop now and not have to buy it before your first semester in college begins?

I'm sure your parents would give it much more consideration. My sister had to get an APPLE Laptop for Ball State (# 1 in the country for wireless and Wi-fye Internet). Laptpos are a bit more expensive, but you can get a nice Dell or Compaq for around $700-800. Unless your parents are willing to pitch in a bit, you're probably not going to get *top-o'-the-line* equipment, but hey...you can't complain too much.

Well that's my two cents at least.

That makes no sense. You will pay just as much or more money for something that will be more obsolete by the time you get to college. I'm 14. If I buy a laptop now in 2006, I would get something that would be less powerful than a computer that I bought for the same price in 2009, when I start college. Money is money, and it makes no sense to buy something before you need it, unless there is a sale or something.

Additionally, a computer you buy for four-year will barely last you that long, further invalidating the point. In short, unless you're a senior, you shouldn't buy a laptop for college.
