Abby Whip becoming the new Full Rune?

Featured Replies

Only problem is that whips are the best weapon in the game...personally I hope the 100th quest has some awesome (whip speed) weapon thats untradable, takes 80 atk, str, and def to use, and you can buy it from some new store for 5m cash (also it would protect over everything else)

sounds good to me :D

and yea everyone has whips now- they cheap, but they good, so fair enough no more d longs

118+ combat

1730+ total

i think more people are able to get more money at low levels now. when i first started playing a year and a half ago i didn't get my first mil until i was like lvl 70 and now i see lvl 50s running around in full zammy. atleast to me it seems that the game has changed and lower levels are able to find ways to generate a bigger cash flow than before. imput on this idea? :?

It's a lot easier for low lvls to get money now, such as getting unid herbs that sell 1k each, or vials, they cost 10gp in store can sell for 100gp or more on forums if in bulk. I actually saw a lvl 79 I believe it was today wearing full dragon... That kind of disturbed me. Over time not only are all the items going to get cheaper and cheaper but everyones stats are going to get higher in higher. I remember in RSC when it was extremely rare to see a lvl 100+ at times. Now you walk around and they're everywhere. A year or 2 down the road, full dragon is going to be on the majority of players, and being lvl 110 isn't going to be anything of an accomplishment as it use to be. A lot of games have done resets when this happens which is where everyone has to start completely over.. I don't think Jagex could do that seeing that people pay every month to play RS... It always has worried me though.

ok this is my point of view

1. People with RL money. yes RL money. as most of you know, $5 in today's world is practically nothing. i probably have $5 lieing around somewhere right now. With this, more people are buying member's. now all your p2p newbies know what im talking about. it's very easy to make money on member's. Recently i had my mained banned because my bro macroed. Never thinking of quiting i made a new account, in two days i was a lvl 3 with 400k, now thats easy money. now as a lvl 41 i have a networth of about a mill, and i'm not even trying to make money. all in all, more members, more money making stats= money, and more money

2. People with no lives. Yes there are people who pretty much just play rs. even people who have lives still can find a big chunk of time to play rs. This results in a new wave of "Slaves", or people who play rs just for money. Me, personally, like to get stats up, i could care less if i'm poor, but i know in the end i'll be able to make money easier with stats, and many other people know this, so they do it too

RS is a game where those who pay for it, get to make money easier. people with lower social time and more rs time make more money than those with a limited time schedule for rs. all this results in rich people walking around, low lvl or not, millions or BILLIONS, and caluses(sp???) on their fingers :)

Well thats my two cents

RAWR!

(,,,) (-,-) (,,,)

all about what is happening is supply and demand

i agree totally.. wads wrong with that? from here.. could see many players aspire to become 85 slayers.. and using full guthans and camp @ slayer tower having fun with the abby folks..

As more and more players become 70 attack.. whip became their first goal.. as more and more players capitalise on this.. whips tend to be cheaper as there are more sellers who could supply to feed the buyers..

As one waits on.. whip could still fail in price.. i believe.. the magnitude i am not sure..

I bought my first whip for around 4.5 mil and I was lvl 75. everyone would say "wow! a lvl 75 with a whip!!" Then at lvl 77, after a sold my whip, I waited about a month and when I posted my account on a rate my account forum, everyone was saying stuff like "Dude, your account is good but you should get a whip."

My point:

Whips used to be the "Almighty Weapon of the Gods", but now it's just (dare I say) the next "dragon weapon"

Whips are still the best weapon in the game. They are just more affordable now, that helps trainers and makes people less worried to risk them in the wilderness.

Anyone who works hard enough can get enough money to buy one, but they still have to get the 70 attack to wield one.

If you aim to be unique, Work harder to get a fury and a fire cape.

Jealousy because your weapon of choice is more readily availble is rather petty.

well rock bottom price for whip would be about 500k. that might never happen but it's posible. also cmb lvl doesn't say everything about person. i like my low cmb and high total, well not that high but a lot people are suprized to see 1250+ total with 83 cmb. and i don't have whip, and i don't know if i buy one :) maybe down the road. i'm happy with my d-long.

jagex should make more untradable items that had to get like fire cape. thats my future goal with less than 100 cmb :)

1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb.

02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb.

07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.

but, being petty is fun. it was nice having a whip when they were at a "reasonalbe" 6mil a very low # from the previous months actually, i love it it was a rare occasion i saw someone else with one now its like, i see every kid with a whip and i guess i am jealous i didnt have the oppurtunity to buy it for 2.5mil to.

the whip pricing drop is really strange if you think about it. I mean, in the sense of supply and demand, there are an exponentially larger amount of people gaining 70 attack every week as compared to new 85 slayers. Even if every 85 slayer got 5 whips per week i bet there are more than 5 people reaching 70 attack per each of them.

its still pretty sad how d sq went from 8M to 3M in a couple of months imagine if that happened to abby whips.

well it happens now. week ago if u bought whip for 3.3mil ti was pretty cheap, now it sells under 3 mil mark.

maybe d2h has it's own influence in prices, nea weap kills old one's price

You know its sad when an inferior weapon *cough d2h* is almost 8 times the value of a whip these days.

i think its complete trash, i brought 5 abyssal tails into the game yesterday, best trip yet...to find whips went down 600k over night

yes, i feel for ya man, my friend chris complains about merchants alot, he said if merchanting was in this game, like totally void of it whips would be nearly id say half their original price.(20-25m maybe?)

everything would be up, thats the problem raw materials for training skills would be pricey and runes and such would be outrageous.

i hate to say it sk8er, merchants and dropping of prices on things like whips barrows and d chains are an unnessecary evil.

I'm 106 cmb and I DON`T use whip...

I dont like whip, I use it only for KBD slaying or so

I USE d long, I personaly don' t like d scimmy, with d long I ht more often 20+

If I want to train att - Verac or Dharok

P.S. I' m curently 85 91 80

and the best wpn in game is full dharok or verac

pures as in...not pures

dont need to be pure to have money, or 70 attack

~Urm to be lvl 70 and 70 attack you usually do, unless you lkeave your defense at like 40-50 and half of your sentence didn't make sense.~

As whips go down. there wont be as much pople wanting to achive 85 slayer and soley use it do get whips. Aas they could probably make more money doing other things.

Therefore whips will rise again. Its simple economics really. Prices will fall, then rise. Yesterday whips rose back to around 2.9M.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

As whips go down. there wont be as much pople wanting to achive 85 slayer and soley use it do get whips. Aas they could probably make more money doing other things.

i doubt they will "rise" buy more like the term, "rebound" like now 2.5-2.6mil is going rate i see for a whip, now they MAY rebound to 3m but i think the amount of people whom just give up on slayer solely because whips dropped so low will cause a stabilizing factor.

im 78 slayer, i have no real abition to reach 85. yes, it would be nice to beable to reobtain the best weapon in the game solely on my skills without putting any amount of realistic $ back into reobtaining it

like someone said before abby demons are the new rune rocks, so whips will turn into the new rune set it keeps dropping in price for about 100K a week and no clue when it will stop dropping.

the best way to find the eventual price of the whip is easy, find out how much it costs to buy from general shop then add 1gp.

eventually the price will go down (as with rune etc) that it will cost slightly more then it can be high alched/sold for in shops.

of course this will take a very long time (100k per week...)

this is also very over simplified[not fully explained]

The reason the average joe can afford them is because that average joe has been saving up for one for a long time, because he knows it's the most powerful weapon and he wants it. The price drop helps him all the more.

i am lvl 78

look up vill_ranger0 i am about to get 70 attack this slayer task and of course i will buy a whip, why shouldnt I. They are easily affordable. They are the best weapon in the game so naturally everyone would want one. Eventually there will be a new weapon with 80 attack, the abbysal 2h, whatever, and i will work hard to get it. It's the cycle of the game and its how it works. You are right.

I honestly don't think he is trying to put lower levels down. I think he just means that not to long ago, 70+ CBleveled accounts had full rune and a dragon longsword. Now that most level 70 players have abbyal whips, it might come as shock to some higher level players. By the way, let me be the first to congratulate you on 70 attack. You've worked hard, I imagine, and if you really want to buy a whip...I say, go for it.

Pjtomboy.png
Long long ago, in a game far far away... well actually I'm referring to the days of RS Classic - especially in the early stages - it was very exceptional to see people walking around in full rune. Then, as the game progressed, it became more accessible/available/affordable to the lower levels, and lower levels... and yet lower levels... and so on, until the current stage we have been at for a few years, where every newbie and his dog is wearing full rune.

Now perhaps I'm just getting paranoid in my old age, but I am convinced the same is starting to happen with whips. They are NOT cheap items, no matter what some of you millionaires may claim. 2.5 million or whatever the current going price for them is, is hard earned money, yet I'm now seeing the majority of level 70+ players running around the world with whips in hand.

What do you think? Is the community becoming more efficent at making money in general, and thus the average Joe has no trouble affording such an item? Are too many whips being introduced the game at once? Am I getting paranoid in my old age? Or is this just another extremely pointless thread with no discussion potential?

You missed 2 important things.

1) Full rune can be bought in shops for less then 300K, whips cant be bought in shops not even for 100Mill

2) How long does it take a 99 smither with 85 mining or a rune miner to make full rune ? and how long does it take a 85 slayer to get 1 whip ?

I hope this clears up why its not comparable.

Look at the dmed that still is no full rune and it hadnt nearly the starting value of the whip.
