Not a bad album if you like lo-fi indie rock.

I've been confronted with that record so many times, and I still never heard it. So I decided to just buy it when it crossed my path. The guy who sold me the CD said "Magnum is the Godfather of Freak Folk" and that the record is a concept album about somebody falling in love with Anne Frank. Especially the last part really pulled me over to get it.

Seeing that picture makes me angry :P I bought a used copy of Sleeping Beauty a few months ago, which only worked on my new computer, but not my old DVD player. Shortly after, they release this edition, which would work on both :P

Well I pre-ordered these two:

Well, I went on a Dream theater rampage and picked up some good stuff.

dtvf4.jpg

I find this to be underrated as a Dream Theater album. Its heavy, its aggressive (Honor Thy Father is a rant against the singer's dad). Even this beast has a mellow moment (Vacant is a 2-minute pit stop before the next monster)

dt3so9.jpg

Believe it or not, this is my favorite of the DT catalog. The special thing about this special cd is that it mixes beauty with a few hard rockers (These Walls, Panic Attack, etc). Unlike Images and Words, this has a way of taking the listener on a strange journey. The final 24-minute title track is epic. No, seriously! You have to hear it to believe. I recommend this and Images and Words if you want a mellower Dream Theater.

dt2xt2.jpg

Another beast of a cd by Dream Theater. This is probably their darkest and most aggressive disk around and the lyrics makes Awake even more frightening (take 6:00 for instance: "So many ways to drown a man/ So many ways to drag him down/ Some of them are fast and others take years and years.") Octavarium this isn't! Like all DT albums, The Silent Man is an accoustic song that mellows you down until you hit The Mirror, which starts the album in a heavy pace. This is the perfect music to crank up for crusing or working out.

dt4dr9.jpg

This isn't my most favorite DT cd, but it still warrants a listen. In DT fashion it mixes beauty and anger while keeping the balance, which is pretty good. My personal favorite is Constant Motion (I'm learning how to play this on guitar and its kind of complex). If you are desperate for this, you can pick it up.

but then the Dutch version without Skammen. But that's not a problem, since I already had that movie. It was nicely priced for only 7.50
