i_love_burritos
I keep on wondering how you people afford all this. Unless they're second hand and bought from a discount store.
das
Awesome, the X-Men cartoons are finally out on DVD. Yes, reasonable prices too. 19.99 per set, cheaper sometimes on amazon etc. Considering it's a 2 disc set with 16 episodes I can justify them easily, Cheaper than most tv shows. I keep on wondering how you people afford all this. Unless they're second hand and bought from a discount store. I do buy a majority of my DVD's from Big lots - which is known for a wide selection of quality titles such as Rebel without a Cause, Casablanca to newer films, basically movie companies dump overstock on them - overstock can be very very good, and sometimes it blows. I rarely pay more than $5 for a dvd, most films drops considerably from the release price, for example sex in the city was $2.50 on movies4wholesale (new) and speed racer - last summer flick, was 3.99 at best buy twice this year, i really only make exceptions for superhero movies, and extended stuff like LOTR triology. On tv shows, I try to shoot for 15-20 a season (20 for say smallville, 24) and 10-15 for shows like king of the hill, lois and clark and batman the animated series. I also am a frequent buyer from my local movie store ($6 dollar for good quality used new releases every 4-8 months) and secondspin.com. Family Video and blockbuster online also come to mind, Movies4wholesale as well sometimes has amazing deals (Great escape 2 disc for $3) My Average DVD price including boxsets is around 3.50 a flick. Some stuff like Band of brothers, and citizen kane never really dip below a certain price ($40 and $10) so you just got to research and wait for sales. If you have titles you are looking for, I can keep an eye and post/pm you when they hit a good sale price. (It also helps to have a job) Also days like Black Friday often offer freaking amazing deals on movies. How2PK
I keep on wondering how you people afford all this. Unless they're second hand and bought from a discount store. Stuff on sale, second hand things etc. Also I still live with my parents, work full time and I'm really bad at saving. I also forgot to add three CD's. Masada - Live in Sevilla 2000 Cocteau Twins - Lullabies to Violaine: Volume 1. Cocteau Twins - Lullabies to Violaine: Volume 2. i_love_burritos
You're all obviously very busy people. Das and How2PK, you both work. And buy so many DVDs and CDs. My second question is do you actually get the time to watch them all ?
How2PK
I don't. :P But that's kind of how I like it. I got somewhere between 200 and 300 movies that I still need to see, also some full t.v. series. But I like to have some choice. :) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

das
I'm not sure what ships to aussyland - Secondspin is beautiful because every so often they run a sale with the promo code "heynow" that gives you 20% off and free shipping, I think that applies internationally, not sure. I dont have time to watch them all . i'd say 300 or so unwatched is an accurate amount. I've never seen any sales on the scrubs I can think of. new stuff like BSG rarely goes on sale :( I recomend DVDTALK's bargin forum, I use it quite a bit. indy500fan
Man, 200-300 movies in your collection you haven't seen yet? That is a lot. I have about 20 plus the M*A*S*H set which I have only seen random episodes of on TV.
assassin_696
On a slightly related note I'm the same with books. I tend to buy more than I possibly have time to read but I like the choice of having them to read for in the future. Just ordered The Thomas Crown Affair on DVD (the recent one with Pierce Brosnan). It's a great film and there's someone I really want to watch it with. The final heist scence with Sinnerman by Nina Simone playing in the background is superb. I occasionally buy them, but my local library is very large and has a wide spanning range. So I usually borrow.

I'd be willing to pay someone to get stuff for me and also pay the shipping.

indy500fan
Couldn't resist. 80 bucks, and I had vacation money so. \ Man, that is nice. I paid at least $20 a piece per season and sometimes up to $35. Probably cost me around $200 for all 9 seasons. Forgot to mention it before, I also made my second Blu-ray purchase a little while ago: The Die Hard Collection.
