Chef Leaves South Park

Featured Replies

Legendary soul man Isaac Hayes has officially requested a release from his contract with the "South Park" television show, and the Comedy Central cable station. Mr. Hayes has been a cast member of "South Park" since 1997 as the voice of "CHEF."

Mr. Hayes has decided to part ways with "South Park" because of recent episodes and press that have embarked upon what he feels are inappropriate ridicule of religious communities. While fully acknowledging "South Park's" right to freedom of speech, Mr. Hayes is disappointed with what he perceives as a growing insensitivity towards personal spiritual beliefs, not only with "South Park" episodes but also the recent Danish cartoon controversy.

Yeah, in the new episode they had him in it and they voiced soundclips into his character, and at the end they killed him :(

Yeah, I watched the Goodbye Chef episode last night. All it was was random Chef clips put in to make him sound like a pedophile. Oh well, at least Hayes is doin what he thinks is right, gotta respect that.

I don't. He made a nice sum of money making fun of every religion on the planet. As soon as the show made fun of his religion he is all of a sudden against it. What a load.

Took the words right out of my mouth GhostRanger.

I've seen countless episodes where the show makes fun of .

And the only reaons I could think of that he finally pulls is because it was his this time.

Bit of a double standard really but whatever. I stoped watching South Park a long time ago.

I could care less.

More like not.

I don't respect obnoxious hypocrites who follow a modern religion-propaganda stunt. He's an idiot and he doesn't deserve all of this attention [Aka what he wants].

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

Ahhhhhhhh, read more about it on Wikipedia. I change my mind about the whole respect thing  .

He believes in scientology if no one caught on to that. He is in his mid-60s anyways and he has made his fortune. Maybe he was just looking for an excuse to retire. Anyways gonna be hard to replace Chef. :x

Yeah, we've never disagreed before, didn't want to start now. :D

Yeah I heard about that today, apparently he's a scientologist and they made fun of scientology so he left.

Maybe he should have gotten the Biggest Douchbag in The Universe award, and not John Edward :?:

The Darth Chef scene was brilliant, and although I can't quote Chef's eulogy because of the language the message they're sending is pretty clear: "We still think of Chef (Isaac Heyes) as a friend even if some stupid little club did scramble his brains."

such a great episode.

he may be gone from the show, but the real life man that chef was based on serves me food every day :D

The rumor has been out for a few days now that Isaac Hayes never had any intention of quitting his role as Chef on 'South Park'. He loved the show and needed the income, and the 'South Park' episode that made fun of Scientology - of which Hayes has been a member for 14 years - didn't change that. But in late January, Hayes suffered a stroke, and members of Scientology took advantage if his infirmed condition to issue a statement claiming to be Hayes leaving the show. Today the story gains momentum as the New York Post picks it up and now names names:

"(Hayes is) at home recuperating and did not issue the press release which said he was quitting because the show made fun of his faith. That release was put out by fellow Scientologist Christina "Kumi" Kimball, a fashion executive for designer Craig Taylor ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ 'Hayes loves 'South Park' and needs it for income. He has a new wife and a baby on the way.' "

I guess this could be more despicable, but only if Scientology attached the statement to a ten year old with cancer in a wheelchair, and then delivered the statement by pushing him down some stairs. And also, there's a puppy in the wheelchair too. And the puppy also has cancer.

Now I have no clue about Scientology, but it all seems a bit too 'culty' for me. And a really greedy corporate cult at that.

Dreaming of that face again

It's bright, and blue, and shimmering

Grinning wide

And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

They're a tad cooky for a religion that recruits new members through mental health tests...

Seventy-five million years ago, Xenu was the ruler of a Galactic Confederacy which consisted of 26 stars and 76 planets including Earth, which was then known as Teegeeack. The planets were overpopulated, each having on average 178 billion people. The Galactic Confederacy's civilization was comparable to our own, with people "walking around in clothes which looked very remarkably like the clothes they wear this very minute" and using cars, trains and boats looking exactly the same as those "circa 1950, 1960" on Earth.
And it only gets worse from there... (They also believe the universe is four quadrillion years old)

um, chef did NOT say he was quiting southpark. that was a rumor spread by the scientologists while isaac hayes was in the hostpital suffering from a stroke. after the scientology episode (before his stroke) he was commenting to people how good southpark is to him, since he lost the rights to a lot of his royalties from his old songs sometime ago. he might be retiring because of his health, but he hasnt made an official statement yet. i think he is still in the hospital.

Well, they pretty much killed him off in the last episode, and just used old clips for his voice. Wikipedia on Isaac Hayes has a bunch of the info, and quotes from Parker/Stone/Hayes on the whole issue. We're not gunna see Chef any time soon.

Tom Cruise and John Travolta are Scientologists.

Oh trey and matt made everyone clear on that fact on the Scientology episode :D

The self-proclaimed king of bronze.

why does he have to be a stupid scientologist :(

jakerules13badder1mi.gif

Wow I read about scientology and it sounds... realy....realy far-fetched. I mean, even more-so than any other religion  . (They flew threw space on what looked like a normal air plane, are you kidding me?)
