When it was posted here that just killing the six brothers and the go opening the chest gives you better chance of getting rewards then killing the monsters down there. I have heard if from guys while I was there. Now when I tried it I never got anything good I did that 5 trips and went back to killing witha a moderate kill count 20 -30 more towards the high 20's. Anyways, doing so I gotten more runes, auctaul armor and etc. I think the getting the kil count higher does help you.

Anyway, this looks like an interesting matter, however, there's a big chance the mod is incorrect, as they have been many times in the past. Our own players have tested many theories and come up with the best solution, and I'm sticking by that :lol:

Yes, let me clarify some things...

 

 

 

1) The Knowledge base does not clarify anything about increasing chances except for the fact that killing all six brothers gives you a better chance at an item drop. Other than that, it just explains what kill count is. This was fact before, and not in controversy.

 

 

 

2) The mods reply seems to be one of two things....

 

 

 

....A) This could be a reversed reply, and the mod is mistaken. The standard response USED to say "Although the kill count increases your chance of getting better (not more) runes from the chest, we cannot confirm if it increases your chances of getting a barrows item." This means they weren't revealing any drop rate secrets, but are revealing that higher kill count improves your chances to getting bloods over minds.

 

 

 

...B) They have changed the script to finally reveal that kill count does increase the chances. I have a feeling this is true. They have been "not confirming" for some time, and they might have finally decided that the mini-game has been out long enough to give up some info on it. The mod's first section referring to "does not increase general drops" might be in response to the inquiries referrence to "number of runes"

 

.....B1) The number of runes are a set range, and the "type" of rune drop you get is random. You will get either around 300 minds, 160 chaos, 80 deaths, or 40 blood runes from each brother drop, if they drop runes. You can get coins, around 35 bolt racks, or a rare item. The kill count increases your chances of getting a better "rune"

 

 

 

3) The only way to confirm this mod's reply is to see if other mods reply with the same "form letter" for confirmation on the new reply. So, more inquiries will be required to "double check" this.

 

 

 

4) My own stats proved to show a "significant difference" with a kill count over 20, compared from 10-19. The margin of error was 3%. Meaning there is only a 3 percent chance my data was wrong. (This is pretty good)

 

I had enough numbers to make a statistical comparison that lowered that margin of error to a convincing figure.

 

 

 

5) If you read all this, you are now tired. :P

One of my mate was there with guthans and kill count 1000+

 

 

 

He got like 2k chaos and bolt racks..

 

 

 

Then other friend did barrows with 7 kill count and got guthan wear spear..

I stopped going for high kc awhile ago...I get just as many runes and every barrows drop i've gotten was from a "low" kill count below 20.

 

 

 

err, i mean, yeah 500kc is the way to go...More chest opens for me in that time then haha.

one run with high or low kc won't clarify nothing. to get data youneed make 300+ runs with 500+ kc and then tell that kill count doesn't improve drop rate.

 

 

 

in other hand while u do 300+ runs with high kc, other people can do much more runs with low kc, and guess what, they will have more items at the end.

Further to this, please note that the more brothers you kill, the more you will be 'haunted'. As you continue to spend time in the tombs and crypts, you will see the ghostly faces of brothers that you have killed. When these appear, your prayer is drained by a considerable amount. Hence, the more Barrows Brothers that you have killed, the more faces will appear and the quicker your prayer will go to 0.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is obviously wrong....... the prayer drains at the same rate... the whole time. Jagex needs to stop acting like numskulls.

I agree that kill count does affect chance if rarer armour or wep drops. Shouldn't the rune tips guide be updatyed to show this. Also the burgh de rott bank give a much easier method of going to barrows which should also be included. However, I went to barrows recently and met someone who said that they always did the tunnel mound, got the chest drops, then exited, then did mound again. Is this Possible?

 

He did say he had full Verac because of it.

It appears there has been some confusion, the only thing that will increase your chance of finding the rare barrows armour and weapons is killing the brothers, your kill cound only affects tha ammount of regular items, such as runes or coins, that you find in the chest should you fail to recieve any barrows equipment.

You don't need to contact Jagex to get this information. You can find it out yourself..

 

 

 

Myself, having done barrows too many times to count.. I know that kill count doesn't effect your chances of getting armour or a weapon. It only changes the amount and type of runes you get. I've searched with 6 KC and have had many items and either deaths,minds or chaos, or more than one of them, never bloods..

 

 

 

With 15+ KC you get bloods, deaths and chaos nearly every search, never minds. I also got about 200+ KC about 5 times now, once i got a dmed with a massive KC so what the guy said above about 'Rare Barrows Item' being dmeds and half keys, is probably correct :)

 

 

 

Oh yeah and every trip has been random, I havent yet noticed I've been getting more items with a higher KC than lower, and the other way around.

 

 

 

Test this out yourself and you'll see... :D

Now I have never attempted the Barrows, however from what little I know it seems that killing more of the 6 brothers increases the chance of a rare drop. As killing a brother adds to the kill count, the more brothers killed, ie the higher your count, the greater the chances, this would mean that what was stated in the first reply is true to an extent.

Why keep asking? None of the mods know what they're talking about (None on customer support anyway) There's only about 5-6 mods that know what they're talking about, and most of them are ones that were there on RSC.

The reason for my inquiry was a couple reason...

 

 

 

After living at barrows for the first 5 months it was out(Was there day 2), I tweaked my approach. I started gettin KC to at least 20 and have had better luck then most.

 

I heard people asking questions and posting stats, so I thought I would send something in to see what there response was.... Which was a circle jerk..

 

 

 

I wanted to see if there was an official answer to my madness.. NOPE

 

 

 

Is the KC really anything to do with Rare B items from chest (yes, no, wait yes, Uhh It says no in knowledge base, yes Leesters stats show that....)

There is no Clarity.... The programmers prob. don't know exactly what the previous programmer did and what Random generator they are using...

what are you talking about??? they said "It dosent help general drops"=runes, gold, ect. but "it does give a better chance of getting a rare barrow item". Now i sure wonder what rare means, i must be very lucky getting 300 mind runes every run because according to you they are rare unless you kill alot.

 

 

 

PS: i get 10 kills tleast every trip before chest.
