April 13, 200620 yr Children still go outside around here. Some play baseketball, other play football (soccer), others act cool and hang around. I get out regulary as well. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
April 13, 200620 yr I think I'm living evidence you can have a good balance of the PC and have a good social, sporting life away from it. That's what I do and I turned out just fine. No, seriously! This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
April 13, 200620 yr What the * at these little kids going to the library during spring break to get on the computer and play games. Back in when I was 5 - 12 On hot days when I was outta school Id be outside, running around, on my bike, playing football or basketball, hide and go seek, swimming, and water wars with my super soakers and gallons of water. THAT was fun, the internet is destroying todays society man. How can kids rather be inside a library on the net than having fun outside with friends. Technology has changed though. :? yes i agree, internet and computers destroy (social) lifes... But the next time u wanna steal someones avvy ask it first ok...
April 13, 200620 yr I'd still rather have kids on computers than outside my house drinking white lightning and zooming up and down my road in a 25cc scooter or mini moto, basicly just acting like complete *. Young kids still go out and play, at least in my areas anyway but probably not as much as they used to. I used to go outside virtually all the time with my friends, rarely were we sat inside playing on the megadrive. Yeah, I totally agree. Throughout reading the topic I thought of that several times. I'm sure in the US it's much different than here in the UK, though. Even though several parts of the US have that stereotypical background. As for myself, I'm on the computer most of my spare time, yet I'm still the best basketballer at my school. Maybe that has something to do with the fact I'm 6ft 2" and barely 15. But until I was introduced to RS, I was out playing Rugby, Javelin, Basketball, Football.. I was sports mad. I can honestly say I'm not as fit as I used to be. And it's because of this. But now I'm getting back in-shape. Hour of Powerballing a day and down the gym a few times a month. I'm not so pale, as some of you say you are, as I just visited Lanzarote. Very hot there. Played basketball the whole time. But back on-topic: I'd rather my kids stay close to home(when I have them) rather than drinking and smoking drugs on a street-corner. And if I had a daughter, that would be worse. She'd definately be a gamer-chick. 8) If she was let loose around here, she'd be pregnant at about 13-16. -Grrs at modern-day society- Good discussion. -Mitch- New sig to come!
April 13, 200620 yr You compeared two differant times, when u were little u used to go outside and play cuz it was safe and NOW? Kidnappings...all sorts of stuff.... than id rather have kids on the computer!
April 13, 200620 yr seriously... if i got outside in the light, and you hold a white sheet of paper up to my skin... :| yeah... it blends nearly perfect.. Natural Goth here babes.. come and get it :P  Same here. I'm so pale, the kids at school often make fun of me for it. "Oh! You think YOU'RE pale! Compare your skin tone to Kayla's!" Im so white I can get off school saying I dont feel well 8) I play outdoors and on the computer. Its getting the right balance thats the hard part. Thats why I think golf is a good sport, it takes time to play properly, requires alot of thinking and can tire people out.

April 13, 200620 yr I think I have a good balance between computer use and everything else. Hanging out with my friends and even family still takes precedence over the PC, I do a lot of sport, (rugby, running, serious cycling, tennis, karate, cricket, swimming and sailing) see my friends plenty enough for me, do very well academically but still sometimes like to kick back and relax on the computer. It's just how I do it. Normally i'm listening to and researching music, looking up stuff on Wikipedia and browsing the forums, so i'll rarely just focus on a game. But I never worry about it if I do. As for kids these days...yeah i think they probably do play on computers to much. But as Merc said better computer games than ASBO's, they just need to learn about how to play out and hang out responsibly and safely. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
April 13, 200620 yr their life, they can do as they please. Personaly, through my childhood i found that sports were boring, so thats why i went to playing on the computer and video games. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!

April 13, 200620 yr My childhood was fun too. I live in a rather rural area. So, I would go over to friends' houses and we would have tons of room outside to do whatever we felt like... We went exploring, had water balloon fights, played tag, rode bikes, or just took really long walks. There's alot of farm land out here too... So, when the cornfields started to grow, we could play hide and seek in the corn (it grows really really tall, and it's very hard to navigate through. We would have to climb on each other's shoulders to see which way to go to get out.) Also, there are alot of abandonned buildings/farmhouses out in the country. We used to explore them, write our names on the walls, throw bottles around in them... It was so fun. The only thing my friends and I really do anymore is talk. Occassionally, when we go out looking for fun, we get tons of it. Recently me and my friends went out to an old, ooooolllld, abandonned farm with a huuuge lot full of nothing but really old cars. (Another friend of mine's parents owned the land and told us we could do whatever we wanted to the cars) So, we picked up shovels and beat the windows out of the cars. Ah... What a stress reliever!

April 13, 200620 yr No kid should be able to live without having at least one hardcore water balloon/weaponry fight with a bunch of people. You can't experience that on the internet or watching television. Television is evil. Retired from runescape(Banned for bug abusing)

April 14, 200620 yr I guess I'm a mix of the two extremes. I do my school work and I do go online (since I'm posting on an ONLINE FORUM :P ), but I also spend the rest of my time out with friends, playing football, riding bikes and the lot. I'd like to think that's the ideal, but I could be wrong. But the kids who never do anything active... that's a bad thing. :?
