Bmms
you must have gave him it before the server went down, when the servers goes do it reverts back in time to another point of the day, and give you what you had at that time, so thats how it worked well played tho, i wouldnt be telling ppl tho if i was you its a 1/million chance ~Bmms Aefx(started 11/1/2002) Cb: 200 TS: 1900+Bmms--Jr(Started on 1/24/06)(Banned 11/13/09 ) Cb: 119(pre-eoc) TS: 1700+Bmms(Started 8/?/2001)(Banned 1/24/06 ) Cb: 101(pre-eoc) TS: 1350+

Jimmy_Kak
i say sell them both so u have the money and then jagex cant take any away from you. And bug abuse would have been if u did it on purpose or managed to keep doing it currently smithing
FuBai
Is this not bug abuse? No because he didn't knwo it would happen, nor did he acutally choose to do it... Not reporting a bug and using it for your own gain = bug abuse. He has yet to report the bug and gained from the bug = bug abuse. People who dont report bugs and gain from them are people who comit bug abuse. Since they are abusing the bug in the game. Now it is intentional since he has gained from it, whether he meant to or not he should report it. (Yes, i know to much use of the word 'bug' in there). you have a free party hat...and you have the choice of reporting it and ruuning the risk of getting banned (JaGeX are so unpredictable), or you can keep it...now let me think what would I do... Risen_The
I don't think you'll get banned since you didn't actually ABUSE it, but I also don't know if Jagex will be nice and nod to that. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=525348 - My Pking Gallery I'M BACK FOR SUMMER BABY
Fred_S
First off this isn't your fualt at all, you didnt do it on purpose. Therfore you can't be banned. You are lucky, think if it went the other way? Thats why you should always trade those items for what its worth then you really have nothing to lose. NETTY
So, what actually happened to cause this "rollback"? I know I've heard of it before, but I know it can't just be a normal system update, or everyone would be trading phats last few seconds before an update, lol. So, whats the deal? Did Jagex just decide to turn back the clock or are there reasons/driving forces behind this? :?

aj926
If he did not report that he now has a white phat sitting in his bank, from a bug in Jagex's system then it is bug abuse. Becuase he is gaining from the bug. Therefore abusing the bug. Its massivley unfair to other players who work hard, then bang this guy gets 120+ Million in his bank for no reason. I wouldn't put this at the player's fault. How is he 'abusing' in the present tense this bug? It's obviously unfair, but again, what do you want him to do? Drop the party hat? Reporting a known bug isn't really that necessary. If this was a new form of dupe, then yes, it's a different case and it should be reported. But it's over with and jagex already knows about the flaw in their system, which is the main point. The "abuse" was an accident. It wouldn't be fair if I got 100 rune med drops in a row, but does that mean I should be punished for it? No, it is luck.
dark_lord_fil
So did you sell this item, or give it away? If you sold it did you keep the gold when the server "rolled back"? Unless you actually keep the money you gained as well this cannot give any economic adantage, all that would happen in any such trade would be money turning back into the item, although the other party would gain from being given things free. This just raises more questions. Unless this happens every system update though it would be almost impossible to gain from. Remember your country code, and SHUT THE GATES! It wouldn't be fair if I got 100 rune med drops in a row, but does that mean I should be punished for it? No, it is luck. I think the only reason people are making such a big deal about this as "bug abuse" is because the item that got duplicated was a Party Hat. The fact of the matter is, to abuse a bug, you must be exploiting it on purpose. The reason why this is a bug that really can not be abused is the fact that the player has absolutely no control on whether or not a server crashes, and there is also nothing a player can do to predict when these server crashes are going to take place. Sure, it's quite unfair that this player ended up making nearly 150M because of a server crash, but it's entirely Jagex's fault. The company should fix the problem of items becoming duplicated during a server crash before this begins repeating itself. Although they are unpredictable in one sense, there are certain days and times during which they are more likely to occur (Mondays, usually 4-10AM E.T.). The last thing this game needs is another dupe, as Party Hats are so extremely expensive at the moment, and it only takes 1 duplicate to make more money than the average 100 players earn in a year combined. VOV
A few months back there was a guy from Kuwait who bought the character "Zar Family2", he was able to DDoS the servers whenever he wished. He used to fight someone at the mage bank, slap on protect from melee and attack the server. Everyone, including him, would disconnect. During this time his character would kill whoever he was fighting and live thanks to the prayer he had on. When he logged back on a minute or so later the pile was right infront of him. He did this to me and several other people I know. After we got in contact with him via MSN he would get us to call out servers and he would attack them. Looking back on this, I wonder if he could have used this to dupe items had he tried. I know the price. I pay it gladly.
