I'd rather see the game remain in Jagex hands than some sort of evil, money grabbing corporation. Oh who am I kidding... The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. This game is more then just some game, it's very inspiring to all game developer's. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if the Jagex team would get an award for it some day. Anyway, this game will end, but when that happens, it will be very likely there is a Rs 3, and I don't doubt they've been researching for new methods and code to make the next game better. And when it happens, there will still be this runescape (just as there is RSC). You need to look further, someone said MMorpg survive 10 years or so. But you must reconsider the fact that Rs it bigger and more well-known than most other games, therefore has more potential of surviving and grow bigger, we have certainly not seen the last or even the most majestic move of Runescape. Last but not least, Runescape is a perfect alternative for many players, not wanting to put money in WoW or other games. The crowd will need to take very long to diminish in size (2 years is out of the question, it'll take literally 20 years or so). Achieved quest (07/08/2009), woodcutting (28/06/2010), attack (21/07/2010), strength + constitution (07/08/2010), defence (26/09/2010), summoning (13/01/2011), herblore (03/03/2011), cook (31/08/2012), firemaking (01/09/2012), magic (08/09/2012), prayer (16/09/2012) and ranged (29/10/2012) capes. Any one in the world peridic the world to end yesterday. Though i can't say a certain number of years it will be alot longer than most MMORPGs. They did not predict 2012 as the end of the world. They predicted there to be a "great" change in the world. Like major change. It was the end of their 12th B'ak'tun. The Mayans divided up human existence (as we know it) into B'ak'tuns. Each B'ak'tun ended in a great catastrophe. This is the end of the twelfth. So we kind of assume that there will be a great catastrophe. The Mayans were also obsessed with time. They had a calendar 20x more accurate than ours. So, all this is based on their calendar. Here is stuff about the calendar. Specifically, it is based on their long count calendar. Since their Calendar Round can only go through around 52 years they needed a long count calendar.
