How long do you think Runscape will last?

Featured Replies

I say it'll last until the day that you have to pay in order to play. At that point, JAGeX will lose a lot of their players because they either don't want to pay, or they just can't.

With as many new updates as they're having, eventually JAGeX will want more money to continue with more complex updates. This, in turn, will cause them to either charge more than $5.00 a month, or charge everyone.

Not saying that this will happen any time soon, but that's how I predict RuneScape will lose popularity.

As said before, the game will last as long as the crowd does.

personally, i hope it doesnt last long cuz im addicted to it and need to get ouside more....

Jagex doesnt stick a gun to your head and say "PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!". It may be fun, and somewhat addicting, but you've gotta remember that it's just a game.

yea, and no1 sticks a gun to ur head and tells you to smoke or drink either, as i mentioned, it is an addiction, so please dont flame (u didnt exactly flame, but it was on the verge) over a reading error next time.

Isn't the average life of a MMORPG game estimated to be about 10 years? I'm guessing that Runescape will last a little longer, so maybe 5-7 more years.

[if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Everything that has a beginning has an end.

Except for a ray or a parabola or anything with an even exponent. :)

If Runescape is going to end in the future it will be in a long time. They have a huge fan base, hundreds of thousands of members and there are almost always over a hundred thousand players online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The game would have to slip in quality to lose it's members and then they would have to stop offering Free gameplay to really lose it's potential market.

Just making a guess here, but i would have to say around 3 years. By then Runescape will be known everywhere, and lots and lots of little kids/hackers/other things will be playing Rs. By then autoers will most likely become much more advanced too.

Another thing might be the names, as in there are probably around 500 to 5k accounts created daily, from new players, hackers, people making autoer chars, (guessing) and that adds up, someday all the good names will be taken, and Jagox will have to do something about that, or no more players.

Also... Another online game could be made inbetween that time span, that may be good/better than runescape thats has an all f2p, or f2p and p2p version.

Runescape might someday be haxored and lose its st00f, as in someone would find exactly out how it works, every little detail, then ruin it.

A meteor could collide into the earth and everyone dies... no more runescape.

Too boring, just keeps getting repetitive (sp?)

Just a few senarios that might/could happen.

Otherwise if it just has good updates, more items/bank space, quests and other stuff, it would do ok.

Oooo, sounds interesting. Or maybe when that happened Jagex would evolve into super whiz's and conquer all! OMG mind boggling.

As far as them actually dying out, well I really can't see that happening too soon, unless Bush orders it, lol.

Runescape's still going for a long time. I don't think it's risen to the "golden age" yet... After the golden age, it will plummet...

I think another 6-8 years, but i hope it doesn't fall....

when the ppl get sick of this game, itll end. Thats what happened to the pokemon games: lots of people quiting and why would u want to make an ultimate team if there is nobody to fight with? well the difference is that this is an ONLINE GAME. so people who enjoy the game will always we able to meet. in a few years the game will update, i think, just like rsc - rs2, making the game mutch more enjoyable. this game is gonna last for allot of years. :P

In my opinion something such as runescape (free online game for some) would only last a short amount of time. But due to constant updates the game still play and will keep playing to find new experiences within the game. Runescape will constantly draw players! :D

If something is hard then it is not worth doing!

2-3 years. Besides Jagex is already working on a new game or so i've been told

Creepy :o Not that I would believe it, Jagex is earning so much money because of RS.

This will probably not happen as long as they still make updates to the game, such as the new game engine.

As long as people play it then there will be runescape. They're not gonna stop working on something that makes them millions.

3-5 years, more if they keep updating it, making the map bigger would be awesome, more wildy.

[iNSERT "I R EATIN TEH SHIX ATM" BILL COSBY SIGNATURE GIF HERE, LOL]

It's going to last as the people want it to last. It might end up as cokemusic or habbo hotel. Only like a max of 400-1000 people play those games. They were very innovative such as Runescape when they came out. Although, as long as they keep feedin' us updates(Good ones) then I dont think anyone will leave just yet.

I dont want the world to end in 2012 :( Dont scare me :shame:
