Mirror
If you ask me high alching needs to go, if high alching is the problem then a money sink is only a temporary solution. And then have a shortage on gp? I dont think so, and stop worrying about the economy everyone! High alchers will come and save the day as usual. hellbellz
Yes, the economy will bring it's prices back up, just wait for the High Alchers to make some more GP! Then I can finally merchant again...
scruffman
i dunno, i don't think there will be an instant return of previous prices. i'm gonna estimate 8 months before items are worth as much as they were before construction, but purely my estimate

Adam007
I've heard that the prices of many rares are already bouncing back? I can't verify that since I don't keep track, but I've heard they're back to normal already.

I'm guessing everything will be back to normal in a few weeks. Surely people aren't going to train construction for months. Give it a few more weeks and it will be treat just like any other skill. swordwarior
If you ask me high alching needs to go, if high alching is the problem then a money sink is only a temporary solution. From what ive seen, you are somewhat correct. I know people are flaming you for that comment but heres why i agree... Back in rsc high alch wasnt something used very often, thus keeping gp out of the game that now isnt. When they brought rune crafting into the game is when it started to get out of control. So yes i think the problem is high alching, just need to think of a better way to fix it, cant just get rid of it...

dogfever
Price inflation in RS is fuelled by gp entering the game, this only happens in a limited number of ways. By far the most important contribution to inflation is High - Alching. The only way prices will not rise is if Construction reliably and continually drains more gp from the economy (payments to npcs/ shops etc.). This seems highly unlikely. The only real question is how much construction will slow inflation and that remains to be seen. So in conclusion yes prices will bounce back but we don't know how fast. df
eloi44
Bounce back? I thought the economy is better than before, gp is worth more now. amen construction helped the economy alot IMO, but unfortunately the gp will come back in time and people will spend less cash on construction
DarkDude
It's already going back up, not much but it is. Will take a few months for things to go up to a max price, but this probably won't be what they were at before construction. But of course things might go over their old price, take Robins for example, they were down to less than 2M a few months ago, and before construction they were up to 4M, the highest they'd been in 1.5 years. But if Jagex leave the game unchanged for the next few months, the prices won't reach up to that before Construction, but close to it.
bflitny1
I was on official forums this morning and it seems like santas are already on their way back up, people are taking a rest from construction and want their rares back. Phats have gone through the roof with blues going for almost 300mil. Masks are going back up too, almost back to what they were. I can assume this will mean that all prices start to rise very soon if they haven't already done so. Construction isn't a temporary money drain, it's just that once the fad is over it won't drain enough money to keep the economy steady, so we will probably expect to see more money drains in the future. However, they don't seem to have affected phats, so I think people with phats are going to continue getting richer and richer whilst everyone else will go back and forth a lot. swampjedi
Prices on party hats are already higher than they were before construction - significantly higher. My guess is the folks who sold their hats got tired of construction and now want their hats back. My Goals and Achievements
Sky_Assasin9
Like you said, it's a fad. The economy will settle eventually, though with fewer GP. "And if Strength is born from Heartbreak, then mountains I could move..."GMT-5:
chenw
Those who wants to level construction will reach it someday, and once they reach it, they will unlikely be spending anymore cash into construction. Those who thinks construction is a waste of money, they will continue alching as normal. Of course there is a money sink now, but the size of the pipe is shrinking the money making rate is making its way back up, until gain = drain. The prices wont go back to what it used to bem but it will be close to it, because Construction, though a money drain, its not continuous (only temporary), thus will only have a temporary effect. If they really wanted to do something about it, they should introduce very high level equip (for lv 80 or so stats), but much more expensive to maintain than barrows, as well as much more expensive to obtain (like i mean 5m per fix or something, but have definitely superior stats and effects than barrows). 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. aussy4321
Yes, It will come Back. My Veiw of this is: A system update comes, Construction Appeared! everyone is running around like a head-less Chickens! They see the price's needed and sell all their Rares,Barrows and Weapons, the forum turns like this Selling Rare Selling rare selling rare!?!!11 Selling rares Selling rares Selling rares Buying Santa... Same thing with the Armour and Weapons forums...With so many for sale all the buyers are gone...People get desperate, And when people get desperate they drop prices like mad! First everything drops by 100k, then another 100k, then a big 300k, then a 100k....The desperate people are everywhere selling everything (i was desperate and sold ranger set 4.1) But soon all Selling will be done, Alchers will make cash, Sellers spend their money on their house which dissapears (the cash.) And no mor Desperate Idiots to DESTROY (that's right DESTROY) the economy, IMO the money drain was a large hit on Runescape. My money making was affected and Barrows rewards are worth less...They were low enough already. Kb100
Jagex saw the drop in economy and tried to boost it with the pest controll update, failing slightly. Next time a big combat update like a new fight pits type game or somthing the prices will greatly raise Kb Battousai Private Chat - ON
Evrae
The thing with the economy before construction is that it was stable - you could rely on the prices of normal items being the same from day to day. Now though, prices are all crazy, with some people selling really low etc. which while its good for buyers is bad for sellers. Some people are still trying to sell at old prices, and so there are no 'standard' prices at the mo. oh well, time to doi some alching while its cheap!
