Ok no offense to anyone but I'm gonna say how I feel.

 

 

 

I use to play runescape a lot

 

I evently slowed down and then I evently quit.

 

Now as I look back I think of runescape as a horrible game that made me have no life for a year.

 

Runescape dosn't get you anywhere cause it evently will be closed forever and it's kinda pointless playing when you know it has to be closed down one day.

 

So why do people sit around the computer for a long time playing a game especillaly if there older people (no offense) older people still have to have fun but maybe in diffent ways.

This is a pretty subjective question, how do you define what having a life is? It not importent what you do with your time as long as you enjoy it. But from the tone of your question I know where you are taking it and yes, I do have a life infact sometimes I wonder where I get time to play

Definitly not, your argument that its going to end eventually so why bother can be transfered to anything. Eventually your going to die so why do anything?

Do you think you have a life? I don't think, I know. Runescape only makes up 1-2 hours of my usually 16 hour day. Max. That's usually time spent when I have nothing better to do (like now). I still hang out with my mates all the time, play football, and get good grades. Yea, I have a life.

 

 

 

Do you agree with what i'm saying? No, because I think you're taking this a little far. Runescape is only bad when people get addicted to it, and play waaaaaay too much. For me, and for probably most people, it's just a hobby.

 

 

 

 

 

And I prefer football when I can get a team together.

I think the questions come from the assumption that everyone else plays the game exactly the way you used to when you were hooked.

 

 

 

I've been playing for a year and a half and I'm only a level 78 with most quests either unstarted (is that a word?) or unfinished.

 

 

 

Personally, I find the game an extremely amusing diversion. Then again, I'm not a graphics freak.

 

 

 

I'm probably one of those "older" people you're referring to at the almost geriatric age of 29. If people want to make generalizations about that I can't really stop them.

 

 

 

To answer your questions; yes I still play. No I don't have a life but that's not because of Runescape. It's because I don't consider my life my own. I dedicate most of it to my wife and children and I'm quite happy with it that way. There really wasn't much to agree with or disagree with. Most of what you stated was your own story and a few questions. The only real opinion I saw was this statement:

I guess I agree about it being pointless, but that's the point. It's a liesure activity. Many liesure activities lack practicality. Note I didn't say "all" or even "most".

 

I've seen The Godfather twice this year. What's the point in watching it a second time when I've already seen it once, you might ask. Because I enjoyed it and I enjoyed it the second time too.

I play about five hours a week. Somedays I don't play at all and some days I play for an hour or two. I only play games when i'm bored, so I do have a life.

 

 

 

If you had no life you'd choose Runescape over a social event with your friends. Now that is sad, my friends...

Do you think you have a life? Be more specific. I think what you're suggesting is that, has Runescape interfered with some of the more "important" things in life (education, career, family etc)? In this case, no, RS has not caused me to not "have a life".

I play it because I think it is fun. No I do no play as much as you once did to lose your sense of worth. It in no way affects my life except as a sort of stress relief because I enjoy the game. People who think it is pointless because it will shut down one day are the kind of people who get hung up on things that can not be prevented... think about it... we are all going to die one day, does that make the time between life and death pointless and a waste? In my opinion, no, it does not...although I seem to think differently than you.

I play Runescape right now just to communicate with other online players, such as friends and fans of my site. I am often quite busy chatting, and I have meeting places with people just to chat randomly.

that's a good question. since school break started i went n0valyfe, so i play from morning till i go to sleep. i don't play on weekends because i go to my dad's and i don't have a computer there and i'm sooo happy i don't play it there. but when i can play it i play it all the time. i am addicted, but if i don't play it it isn't that bad. so i dunno if i have a life. you decide

I know what you mean. I remember playing Runescape for hours a day, seven days a week. Thinking back, that was a lot of time wasted -- but I do remember all the people I've met and all the things I've learned from the game and it makes me smile. I guess it's why I still log in once in a while. :)
