tru_vampire0
a recent survey by JAGeX, which began yesterday July 4, 2006, conducted the following poll which is open for all paying players to involve themselves in. The question was: "What detail do you play Runescape in?" Currently, after about 1 day of the poll being open, High Detail is winning by 27% with Low Detail receiving 36% of the votes, and 63% for High Detail. My problem is this: I can not easily play RS in High Detail and im sure lots of other people cannot. If i do, i recieve an insurmountable amount of lag, compared to my almost lag free play in Low Detail. If the poll ends with the percent of Low Detail players at a very low number, then JAGeX may possible close the Low Detail option completely so the it doesn't use so much space on their engine. This would not be good. So all i'm asking is for your opinions, my fellow Tip.It members. Please post which detail that you normally play in, and if you think JAGeX will close low detail if it gets to a point where not enough people play it to keep it running. Thank you When I Have It, It's the World's. When I Don't Have It, The World Is Mine.
Cypress85
Ummm no? Cause a good amount of people have bad computers that when using low detail, make runescape run fine. i once saw ruby and ash in the wildy, thought it was a santa hat.
peche
High detail They aint closing. If they close some ppl can't play anymore. That means less players and also perhaps less members: less money for them...
skeroh
whats the differnece between high detail and low detail? i know high detail runs slower because of the music- i think- but now i can hear music on low detail too? Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)
Chaos_Reborn
the landscape differs slightly, you can for example see rocks on the floor, grass and flowers which you don't see on low. For me, there's no difference... Visit my Runescape comedy website, based on in-game screenshots.
NY_Vice
i play low detail. i never use the music anyways and i find very little difference in the graphics. Also, the amount of lag is much smaller in low detal

Zodiak12
My computer and laptop can both run High Detail with ease. Usually I play in Low Detail unless something is easier in High (eg. Jad) or i just feel like the little extra bits too look at
no_way2go
Differences: - no music - no waves in the water - no roofs on the buildings - ... they have no reason to cancel it, it even uses slightly less bandwith then high detail (the music) - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -
00 Quanta
Low Detail for me because its not laggy
Lode
I used low detail before the may 2006 engine update, and use high detail after the may 2006 engine update because it goes much better now I dislike that you can't click through roofs, but the better graphics are worth that one disadvantage Runescape: Lodev (Combat level been fixed at 101 for years now, Total level 1500+, playing since march 2002)Arenascape: Lode (Level 240+ Warlock)
Kill_Life
It's safer in wildy. Not that much lags in busy worlds. "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"[Currently playing: K1ll L1f3]
Dexek
I used to go in Low Detail and it lagged. I now go in High Detail, with no lag.. although I have taken some steps to increase my internet speed.. I am on dial-up though, so that is not a deciding factor. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
Bubsa
My two cents: If you're computer can't support RS in high detail, you should look to invest in a new computer. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Umega
Ok, so I'm in the smoke dungeon using high detail. That smoke is pretty annoying, it's in the way, objects get distorted. Why not low detail!? Woot! No annoying smoke! I'm alwasy using low detail for smoke dungeon now. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
Blade8422
I'm usually on low detail, Just because...It's easier, and my internet service is a bit jumpy at times. But sometimes I go to high detail, because it's soooo pretty. :P Just started my new account.
tru_vampire0
Differences: - no music - no waves in the water - no roofs on the buildings - ... they have no reason to cancel it, it even uses slightly less bandwith then high detail (the music) just so u know no_way2go, when JAGeX released the new game enging, they were able to incorporate the music into the low detail aspect of the game. When I Have It, It's the World's. Dexek
My two cents: If you're computer can't support RS in high detail, you should look to invest in a new computer. Lol, agreed. You can increase the speed of the explorer you use by choosing options >>>settings. Also, by press CTRL+ALT+DELETE you can select explorer and increase the priority. Do not do any of this without your parent's permission, or if you truely know what you are doing. RScaper
My computers can support high detail and I used to play high detail for a while. But then I started playing without sound and wanted to minimize the risk for lag in the wildy, plus I cannot even tell the difference between low and high detail (besides the no sound) So now, I only use low detail RSN: Hellomoron
