Torag > Dragon?

I'm sure alot already know Torag is a bit better, but I'd figured I'd do some numbers.

For the armour only, with 68 smithing and repairing it at your house it cost, around 153k. (I rounded up, more around 152 or so)

So, at my cost at

_____________________________

Dragon Chain 15.5

Dragon Legs 2.6

Dragon Medium 550k.

Total- 18.65m

______________________________

So, 18.65m, minus the 1.9m base cost of torags... is 16.75m

So 16.75m divided by 153k, thats about 110 times you can recharge before you paid the same as full dragon.

1,650 hours of pure combat. 68 days, and 18 hours of pure combat.

Plus, the better defensive stats, and say if you die, you lose 1.8m, obviously alot better for PKing.

So unless you're planning to do 15+ hours of pure combat and don't want that to go back every 15 hours to recharge it (which unless your training on something weak, which rune could handle anyway, you're probably making trips) torag is no doubtly a better choice for everyone.

The status symbol of full dragon is gone imo, and the price is increasingly dropping as more and more strategys for the KQ become sucesfull, and more and more chains come into the game (the real bulk of dragon's cost obviously)

Well, what do you want us to say? You're right, of course Torag>Dragon and in my opinion, looks a lot better. Dragon is a symbol of wealth, and (usually) a knack for merchanting, pking, or plain dedication.

The sole purpose of D chain now is based on its look. For armor Torgas ftw!

But might I say it looks very nice :D

Heh nice work working that out, a bit bored ey? :|

Actually it all came from a rant at the offical forums about the dropping prices of dragon.

Of course its a good peice for wealth, it looks great and I wouldnt PK with it (Torag is a better option for that, if you have 70 def).

I'm definatly not saying don't get it, because it is a great item, one of my true favorites i'm just saying in terms of pure armour and overall money security torag is a nice option (I think people don't realise how long it takes either)

Barrows is pretty superior to dragon, dragon is a bit outdated, and used only for showing off now.

Does anyone happen to know death_siren? She stole a green mask from me, and I think I found my way into her ignore list. If you know anything, please, don't hesitate to give me a pm.

I bought my dragon, trained from 80-90 combat using 1-1.5k lobs and sold it for the same amount afterwards. 200k for more then 15 hours pure combat please (H) And now you don't even need armour because everyone seems to jump on the PC bandwagon which is making this game more and more of a joke everyday.

I personally don't do pest control often.

you dont do it, but pc has made combat training so easy, if you enjoy repetativeness.

serously, if you know the pc world, 100 trips takes like 2 hours....

thtas 148,500 xp every 2 hours at my level

which rounds to about 74,250 xp an hour..and thats just from the points...thats not including the games where you get about 400 xp per game..so add 20k onto that number...

your getting about 94k xp an hour..thats is crazy huge!

Agreed, but thats beyond this point.

Yes 200k per 15 hours isn't all that bad, consider it 110 easy payments of 153k

Good point, I mean you normally see people with high "money-making" Skills with dragon, just for the looks, and they're not even wearing it to train combat, usually fish lol. But if you want to sacrifice looks for stats, then definately go with torags

The math is incorrect, as you don't lose any cash in buying dragon, you can sell it whenever you want :?
Sure, fine, of course if you buy it say now and then in 3-4 months you want to sell it back, chances are your going to lose something, plus the base cost to obtain it is alot easier for EVERYONE.

You seem to have missed one of the major points of dragon. If you do spend such a huge amount of time combat training in degradeable armor, you can't get it back, it's gone on repairs. Wheras...you can always sell you drag for about the same price you bought it at (market dependant). So...your calculations are kind of screwed, as with one the money is irratrievable, with the other it's just held in assets.

Agreed, but still, its only in small portions every once and awhile.

For me, (however i dont hardcore combat anymore) making 153k every couple of weeks is alot easier on my bank then sending to total for dragon. Personally, I think people would rather have the small sums, every once and awhile even if they are not refunadable.

that is a factor, but the overall amount of gp currently stabilized in the game plays a factor too.

first i do most my compat @ castle wars or pest control these days.

torag has no purpose their, nor does dragon armor really. but degrading armor in either...not worth it.

dragon 1 torag 0

why is it every1 says torag this or that? guthan and dharok are only 10 less defense points...

or what about wearing dharok with a whip shield and berserker/warrior helm?...the list goes on

and let me get RITE DOWN TO IT, if i or any 1 else honestly needs those 10 defense points to save my life, a few thins come to mind

1. u shouldnt be where u are.

2. your garbage, or really low defense.... u can always use protection prayers to save your life.

3 ur doing something stupid.

torag looks like garbage.

dragon is red and shiny, and a squared body, looks decent.

dragon armor is very practical in fights, to an extent. obviously torags defense will make u negate a few hits entirely. but whats cool about a dragon chain vs torag plate is the chain is more flexible for using magic in. ive casted ancient magic in a dragon chain alot, the -15 compared to -30 is very helpful. now obviously u should wear mystic/ahrim. but in castle wars if some1 isnt wearing a peice of dragon hides, ull hit fine on them at -5 magic atk, u might splash occasionally but other then that ur fine.

yes, i own torags armor and a dragon chain, i wear my dragon chain into every fight, the only time i wore torag's armor was to test the diamond tipped bolts with a friend.

dragon>torag

i know toraags is better for the defsenive and how dragon armor is a sign of great wealth and has a cost to match

but if comparing how to obtain the armor what would be simplier

getting full torags at barrows or killing monsters to get full dragon

i figure torags is easier because its in 1 place but thats just a thought

i prefer my good ol mystic robes

Whats the point of any armour in pest controll? I pretty much just wear black dhide with my phat and i'm fine. I've died I recall 3 times.

Consider the extra defense as a bonus more then a strong point.

Agian with the pest controll/castle wars thing, yeah. Wear mystic, torag isn't for magic

Opinions, I think torag looks fine. I think dragon looks better but in the long run, if your wearing it for training who really cares what it looks like?

Yes, if I didn't have my party hat, and I wanted a symbol of some sort I would take dragon, with a nice black cav (great look, but too often used for my taste) but I already have a symbol.
