September 3, 200619 yr Hello, Recently I got a job making decent cash and since I have extra from time to time I like to purchase completely frivelous (sp?) items and have fun. This time my victim was one of those lasers that are capable of shooting up to 5 miles and the beam is visible. I Received it two days after shipment which in my opinion is a great delivery time. First test? Play around with my cat using the laser... After getting my cats attention I turned on the laser and had a nice game of cat and mouse. Fairly fun, especially when you make the cat run into a wall or something :) Second test, Durability- I obviously dont want to break it so im not going to far with this but I have done a few things. Dropped it on the concrete floor from 5 feet, No harm not even scratches. I stepped on it with the toe of my steel toe boot and nothing. Third test- Distance- At abour 8 pm its fairly dark where I live, in the city but even with street lights the beam was highly visible and got the distance from the start of my neighborhood to the end and the beam was still shining strongly aproximately a half of a mile (could have gone farther but I dont want to get mugged eh?) Fourth test was battery life, Battery lasted Id say 3 and a half hours of straight shining which was about a week of all the fun shining I could do. The model i got used AAA so no problem there. Cheap batteries and a decent life. So all in all I would say this is DEFINATELY worth it if you have 100$ or more to burn. Its fun and really interesting to see what you can do with it. If your expecting a lightsaber that you can see from the moon, youll be dissapointed but if you just want to blast a solid green light across a street, neighborhood or even across skyscrapers its a fantastic "toy" Thanks for actually reading through all of this if you stayed with me. Reveiw for laser? A+ Fantastic Quality with Great fun. (please keep in mind i bought the 100$ version no tthe 3500$ version, for action shots (laser in action) go to) http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/ ... n/210cd9d/ Thanks. EDIT- I forgot to mention the burning capabilities, The expensive "spyder" serious can indeed burn through a piece of electrical tape, but you will be spending about 3 minutes at 2 inches away to burn the tape, and if you dont hold it supremely still it will take much longer (I mean, you are going to need to tape it down or lie it against a flat surface to burn something. September 3, 200619 yr I was interested, because I thought they could light cigarettes, but it turns out that's only the most expensive ones. They're quite fun, but I wouldn't buy one just to shine at stuff. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
September 3, 200619 yr this that wicked lasers site? i was sceptical about these, see if $500 can burn through thick black tape, why doesn't the goverment have one in irag 100 times larger burning off parts of the country!? mind, ive got my 15th coming up with a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 budget, might have to buy a $700 version! \ Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?Final Fantasy Currently Listening To ~ Hotel California / The Eagles

P.S. From what I hear the upgrade from a 100 dollar laser to a 700$ laser is fairly minimal (less battery life, more expensive battery. Although you will get a stronger laser meaning more distance. September 4, 200619 yr :D Hehe, it's cool they made a mini version of that kind of lasser. I have a proffesional lasser, cost me $500, it's awsome, shoots several beams, and make's patterns, etc... So yeah, if you don't have $500 to spend, and know nothing about programing lassers, I'd recommend this product. (The lasser he mentioned) Here's the lasser I have, well it was $500 when I bought it from a different site. http://www.idjnow.com/StoreModules/ProductDetails.aspx/PID=TRIBEAM--BranchID=--DepartmentID=LIGHTING%20EFFECTS--SubDeptID=Lasers--CategoryID=--DeID=0 Me doing staff.
September 5, 200619 yr thinkgeek is my favorite site lol i was considering the green pointer but i came across another site that has ones that can shoot upto 35miles and light cigars and cigarettes  The world would be a whole lot better if little green men in UFO's came down to earth to abduct rednecks.
September 5, 200619 yr Ive noticed that theres been loads of adverts for Wicked Lasers on Tipit recently. They look pretty cool, complete waste of money tho really. September 5, 200619 yr The ones with up to 300mW are really powerful (but also come with a price tag most people can't afford). The blue one with 40mW is still quite strong and it costs a bit under $4,000. If you bought one of these, be careful. :) People can see from 10 miles away where the laser is originating from. On the other hand, this is an excellent tool for schools, especially for teachers (or boasting students who, when asked by the teacher "could you show me which excercise on the blackboard are you actually talking about"? whip out a laser and say 'that one'). Those are at http://www.wickedlasers.com and they have military lasers too but I seriously doubt they'd sell them to you... Also, excellent for pesky kids. A 40mW laser can pop a balloon at a birthday party or amusement park so easily in a fraction of a second...
September 5, 200619 yr They are also pretty dangerous, would be harsh to get shot in the eye with one of those :( Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. September 5, 200619 yr They are also pretty dangerous, would be harsh to get shot in the eye with one of those :( Yep, so if any of you actually buy one of these, get the protection goggles as well (they don't look dumb at all if you were wondering about the word "goggles"). Just looking at some of the stronger rays can be blinding from close distance; No 'eye contact' necessary.
September 5, 200619 yr darn those look fun, never heard of them over in England tho. Please click below to help with my ICT A Level, for which I have to monitor my website for 8 weeks, hits and feedback welcome. http://www.chauncystweb.co.uk/sm Feedback page now up and working.
September 6, 200619 yr PLEASE BEFORE EVER BUYING ONE READ THIS If you ever buy a laser pointer, regardless of what it is or how much it is, never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever, god I cant stress how important it is to never, shine point or direct the laser towards an Aircraft, Public building, Goverment Vehicle(any vehicle to be safe), bridge, walkway, water towers ANYTHING. The authoritys will find out and you WILL be ARRESTED. Any kind of laser can be used to direct a projectile at a target and the gov't will find this as an immenient threat. Im not kiddding, some idiots at the nearby International Airport, shined a laser at a U.S Airways aircraft, and the TSA immediatley found out. The kids were apprehened and are facing trials for being idiots... Tip.it tip of the whole friggin millinium: Dont point a laser at anything that isnt in yours!!!! Just shine them on the search planes...
September 6, 200619 yr I often go around of the Wicked Lasers forum, and they seem pretty cool. If you do buy one, just be VERY CAREFUL - lasers are NOT toys. ARENAscape: Baratus [AS] max hit: 166 with Moon Battle Hammer ixfd64 [AS] max hit: 116 with (untitled spell #2)

September 6, 200619 yr Mines an effect lasser, not a 'fun' lasser. So I can program it to a point. Me doing staff.

Yep, that site is the 'standard' for quality lasers (outside of military use) and their lasers are often cited on the news and used in movies and TV series. Also while you mention it, there isn't really a 'cheap' option - unfortunately. (Though expensiveness can be relative, but I think I'm talking for the majority of the users here when I say $3,500 as a starting price is quite high)
September 6, 200619 yr Don't bother paying big bucks for a lasser pointer. Buy an effect lasser and put on lightshows, you can even charge if you have a good enough show. No joke, I know someone who has lasser shows with mirrors in his garage, costs $5 to see it, and it's worth every penny. He's made a good couple $100 off it. Me doing staff.

And these that put on light shows are cheaper than regular lasers you say? Do you have to pay a lot for a decent 'effect laser show(if thats what they're called)' though?

I made up the name 'effect lasser' because they don't technically have a name. Go here, there are some. If you're crazy enough you could set up a show, like the guy I know did. Basically they move to music, or can be programmed, via DMX, etc. I use them to DJ, and they're a hit, like a fog or a bubble machine. I just think they are cooler than lasser pointers. But then again, they are also stationary for the most part. Me doing staff.
