Overpowered ancients

Is it just me or is ancient magicks way too powerful?

It totally ruins castle wars in my opinion since most the ancients seem to gang up on one team to ensure victory, so there is a constant ice barrage on the opposing team, it's totally unfair.

I don't really go to the wilderness but I can imagine any "professional" pker, or group of pkers probably has one or more ancients.

To me it's a pure player killer that makes mages too powerful.

Never in wild do you see what you see in CWs. If you're in multi and there are that many ice barrage targets, they'll all be on you and you'll be dead. They (unlike most CWers) know to bring hides.

As for CWs, I often go without barrows on normal spells and beat the stuffing out of ancients. All in all they're still mages, and if they're owning you, it's because of your mage defense. They (even in ahrim's) are very vulnerable to cbow/dds spec.

Yes. It's very powerfull though, You can only auto-mage it with a 80k Acients staff, it takes lots of runes. And can't do lots of spells like Alchemy or teleports. Lot's of downsides so it's ok to be way to strong.

This is what I've been thinking ever since they came out . Is a 30 damage 20 second snare and hits 9 targets fair? No.

Have you ever tried ancienting at cw? After you try it yourself and find out how 'easy' it is and how expensive, I bet your opinion will change.

get hides/karils and magic short/karil/crystal bow, its not hard... fun casting ice burst (cant barrage yet only 82 mage  ) on groups of clueless meleers in castle wars then running behind things so when they are unfrozen they are frozen before they can get me again. its not cheap or easy at all, thats why i only do it when im very bored, and noobs who just got ancients and use it as their only thing and just press "auto cast ice burst" then attack people do no good, unless theres a huge group on me usually i just cast burst whenever they are unfrozen/have protect from melee on.

I have done ancienting in CW multiple times. Expensive is no problem at all. Heck some people have 300mil. Thats enough for a gaint amount of ice barrages. Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they can be overpowered.

And also easyness it's pretty easy. If you got some warriors chasing you. Just wait until you get a nice distance (Kiting) then snare them.

Class, note the key word bolded. It's obvious our specimen here hasn't heard of the Combat Triange.

ahrims has low melee def and no range def and you splash alot on hides... if people knew what to do, then ancienting wouldnt be so good.

Yes I have heard of the Combat Triangle. The combat triangle is a peice of "Insert offensive word here" A ranger is supposed to "Own" a mage. *99 ranger with Full karils goes against barrager mage with Ahrims* *Mage pwns ranger* Warrior and mage hybrids basically own everyone. *Ice barrage runs up 4 dds specs dead*

I wear Black D hide against every mage I meet. And I can assure you that The god spells splash way more then Ancients. It's like wearing rune.

Only because you meet ancients with higher levels.

A guy with 99 range 99 mage, fighting another guy with 99 range 99 mage, where one guy ranges with xbow and another barrages, is a definite win for the ranger, who gets two hits to the mage's one and rarely misses.

If I saw an ancient mage I would Seercull and Xbow him. The end. They're not overpowered.
While most would not try that in wild, that has a good point for CW. One seercull spec with mith or addy and the mage is probably reduced to silly little ice bursts, or less.

can't say i've ever heard of a combat triange either :-w

but no its not over-powered, its expensive it lacks all of the nice things modern magics have and you have to do a annoying quest for it

Ancient is one of the reasons why I don't do Castle Wars.

I agree they are overpowered, but why wouldn't they be?

I mean it requires nearly impossible quest to use them.

Desert Treasure isn't that bad...

I didn't say it was bad, I just said it was hard.

It is hard. For some people it is hard. I've even heard people complaining about "taking hours" to do the quest.

ancient magic isnt really over powered, its more like its under apprecaited. everyone uses the ice spells ive honestly see 10 times as many ice spells as i do smoke and blood and 20 times as many shadow.

how is ancient magic over powered? is it because it hurts more then 1 person? or because it freezes for 20 seconds?

now im sure every1 here as been hit with ancient magic, but im not so sure every1 has been hit with shaddow spells...

if you every want to prove to some1 ancient magic is over powered heres how you do it.

1. goto world 6 remmington house portal

2. goto a nice house with a nice dungeon with a cage under the throne room.

3. ice barrage people in the cage near the door to exit it or in the center.

4. shaddow barrag EVERYONE with FULL ahrims, including the staff.

5. watch as their attack goes down tons and their str is effected by ahrims spec.

rite their you have effectively paralyzed people for 20 seconds and then you have hurt the most widely used combat area of this game, melee stats. attack and strength.
