September 10, 200619 yr Since the OT crowd here is so smart and talented (which really is true), I was wondering what drummer you guys think is the best. As for me, I really enjoy listening to Brad Hargreaves but can't find any cool videos (that will play at least) of him. I also like Carter Beauford. Your thoughts? Oh, and be sure to post videos! I'm currently transitioning from a Wizard to a Mage and a Priest to an Archpriest. Lol both are nonexistant in the top 25. Hopefully I can change that. :D
September 10, 200619 yr Music & movies forum? Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

September 11, 200619 yr joey from slipknot is amazing. do a search on youtube for him of something He's good for his age, but he is definitely not one of the best. Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
September 11, 200619 yr Best in what catergory (sp), Speed, styles.....The drummer in trivium is fast and good, but he can only play metal as he never learnt anything else.
September 11, 200619 yr Vinnie Colauita of Chick Corea, Tomas Haake of Meshuggah or Neil Peart are the best drummers in the world in my opinion. It's also my opinion that Joey of Slipknot sucks, Mike Portnoy is overrated and nobody cares for the Trivium drummer :P
September 11, 200619 yr Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Cozy Powell are among some of the best. All overshadowed by Danny Carey though, that guy is nuts. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

September 11, 200619 yr Together with the ones already mentioned I always enjoy the Zappa drummers. Terry Bozzio (Sheik Yerbouti and of course his zapp debute bongo fury) and Vincent Colaiuta (Shut up 'n play yer guitar/joe's garage). Both succesfully came trough the audition which was "the black page". Which is suposed to be very hard to play. The Black Page is a piece composed by American musician Frank Zappa known for being ridiculously difficult to play. Originally written for the drum set and melodic percussion, the piece was later rearranged in various versions, including a disco and a new age version. It is told that Frank Zappa wrote "The Black Page" as a challenge for drummer Terry Bozzio. It was given its name because there were so many black dots on the page of sheet music that it was almost all black. As Frank said on the album In New York, the song has "statistical density" [1]. It is written in common time with extensive use of tuplets, including tuplets inside of tuplets. At one point there is a half note triplet in which each beat is counted with its own tuplet of 5, 5 and 6. The song ends with a whole note tuplet of 11 and then two half note tuplets of 11. The result is that the melody is played and then played two more times, twice as fast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Page Oh, an for both a drum solo. September 11, 200619 yr Meh I hate slipknot but their drummer still kicks all kind of butt. I also like shadows fall's drummer and Jaska from COB. Obviously this is from a double bass standpoint. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
September 11, 200619 yr The best drummer that I've listened to and liked (I'm going on sound quality, not just speed) is Mike Portney. I definetly don't listen to slipknot, or blink 182, but to assume a band's talent is immedietly cut off the moment they become to popular for one's taste is just flat out not fair. :o Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
September 12, 200619 yr Zak Starkey Good choice. And is that Bowie in your avatar? Indeed it is. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
